I have the Aea challenger.457 with the power valve, I wonder 🤔 if my 340g home made slugs @ 650 fpe would do the same job?

Hard to say without knowing bullet design and lead hardness. These MrHollowPoint slugs have never exited a pig. They expand up to .7-.8 in at air gun velocities. Short of shooting a pig yourself, you could try shooting some ballistic gelatin. If the slug penetrates more than 10-12in it will probably exit pig and likely will do less damage. Of course, shot placement is MUCH more important than bullet performance in dropping animal instantly.

@@DrPorschephile I kinda figured this. I can make hollow points but being a .459 size barrel I found one mold but it's only 220g hollow or 235g wadcutter. I won't be accurate at 1100 fps with that power valve. Can't wait for the regulator that should come out.

@@dickdyson3100 I see what you mean. However, if you spend more $ on a regulator, you are kind of defeating the purpose of the power valve. I would instead spend those funds on a mold for heavier .457 lead HPs.

@@DrPorschephile Yeah this is true. Stock 400fpe and 12 shots with the mag for a .457 is a good price, building a gen 2 with all the upgrades would for a little more would pissed me off more. Kinda like buying a car and later finding out i can add this and that to make it better then the stock version is still okay in my book. Having all these things in a gun already for the same price would have been better that's for sure, but some like to mod their platforms.
