So many wonderful musicians have come and gone. This show really chronicles some of the greats and Dave Sanborn was a respectful and humble host who gave homage to them. Sadly, Dave has passed on and joined the choir invisible but his musical contributions will never be forgotten.

This was the greatest show ever on American TV, Some years after the show was off the air I met David Sanborn and told him I thought it was the greatest show he smiled and agreed

Of course, he got to co-host a TV show and play with the greatest musical talent of the day. Who can say they played with Dizzy, Miles Davis, Stanley Turrtine, Ashford & Simpson & etc? David has a resume. 🎷🎺

I also had a chance to speak with Sanborn and Don Was and asked why this show wasn't made available in some fashion. They said that to get the rights from all the assorted players that came through the show, well it was a insurmountable task. Too many people with too many legal holds on their music. The show was one of the greatest, maybe the greatest, ever. The show with Was Not Was, was amazing.

Wow, It's 2020 now and I was surfing through the old Night Music vids, watching Marcus Miller etc when I came on this one with Squeeze. I play Tempted in English pubs on my acoustic - what a treat to hear that sax solo! Fabulous. What a treasure that series was.

Great musicians in the band! Nobody mentions him (not even in the above notes) but the amazing bass player is TOM BARNEY. A great eclectic bass player, one of my favorites.

Night Music was such a TV show that caters to jazz music lovers like me. Just watching musicians playing their music instruments brings great memories and is rare today. 🥲😁😄 Glad that Jools kept the concept of the original show, went back to the UK and have his own show. 🎷🎺

WOW, Sam Moore KILLS in this episode! The house band (especially Hiram) were vibin' so hard during his Otis Redding cover. You Got Me Hummin' was absolutely electric, and his Jackie Wilson cover was a cool way to end it all. 10/10, would recommend to anyone. Thank you for uploading this!

What a treat and a treasure! I never saw 'Night Music' when it originally aired-- didn't even know it was on the air. I've only seen clips of it here on KZfaq and know it was a quality show. This is the first time I've viewed an entire episode or even seen one in its entirety on YT. I hope more episodes of the show will be uploaded as I know others had the good sense to tape the shows when it first ran on NBC or repeated years later on BET. Thanks and if you have more, please upload.

Jools took the basic premise of this show and ran back to the U.K. with it. Bravo to him for that and for the audience there and abroad for keeping it(Later..) running. Too bad our audience couldn't do the same, BUT the difference is that there's some currently popular acts in the mix.

I’ve seen isolated clips but only recently found the whole TV series - it’s a joyous revelation. And you’re exactly right - ‘Later…with Jools Holland’ which was first aired in the UK in 1992 is still running on the BBC in 2022, thirty years later. Very astute move, Jools. 🙏🇬🇧🌞🎺🙏5.2.22.

This weird thing happened in the 1980s and '90s where the Hammond B-3 went out of fashion. People played these shit synth organ sounds, with none of the myriad avenues of expressiveness the B-3 allowed--different registrations, the rotary speaker and the extraordinary power of switching speeds on same, playing different sounds on the two keyboards, the percussive click, all of it. It's never worse than on this version of Stanley Turrentine's sugar. But a couple of tunes before it, George Duke plays a B-3 with Squeeze. It was right there on the set! Why did't they use it. Fashion can be a terrible thing.

Night Music is a tremendous show but esthetic choices like the one you debscribe make me wish it could have happened in another era. That's absurd of course and we're lucky that it happened at all but the 1989ness of it all is a bit of a drag.
