We need shows like this back!!!! PLEASE get rid of dreck like Real Housewives of (insert name of Urban Hellhole). Jools Holland is an international musical treasure.

I had the pleasure of hearing Slam Stewart perform Flat Foot with Benny Goodman back in the early 70's. Fond memories and now hearing Slam do it. Great show. Thanks.

While teaching at Berklee College of Music in Boston, professor and bassist Steve had his graduate students transcribe the most common “Jazz Standard”tunes and the lead sheets were bound and sold to the students as class notes and became the first “Fake Book” that turned into the Real Book vol 😍5 that sits on my piano today and provides the tune structure including song melody 🎶 , melody 🎼 (need an icon for a G7 or B7 for Carla Bley😂 compositions “Lawns” / “Healing Power” respectively. Intro, Verse, Chorus, Melody and Chord notes make it much simpler to perform an unfamiliar called tune AKA “request” from the crowd, promoter, or music contractor. For more information listen to the entire Blue Note catalog (It will take a lifetime) and the Electra Musician catalog. . . . “ If music be the food of love play on . . . “ - William Shakin’ Shakespeare Sincerely Yours😎, Rob Swofford 1966 - ♾

Great musicians in the band! Nobody mentions him (not even in the above notes) but the amazing bass player here is TOM BARNEY (not Marcus Miller). A great eclectic bass player, one of my favorites.

Poor David Sanborn, trying to be a comedic foil for Jools, but humour was _completely_ out of his wheelhouse. :^/

This show only lasted 2 seasons because it was great and ahead of its time! They suppressed it! All these episodes should be restored as a tribute to the music of David Sanborn, nuff said 🎷🎺🥁🎹🎸🎼🎵🎶🔥♥️

I love in the super energetic last song section, they were like.... Okay now Leonard.. go sit over there.🤣 He was probably happy they said that, though it was still really funny. You got to love Leonard man, The only person i've ever seen that is somewhat similar to me.

One thing I have noticed watching several of the Night Music episodes is the absolute joy that Dave Sanborn shows. What a delight to play with so many different great musicians every week.

29:54 The two guitar solo thing has never worked. It always takes away from the articulation that makes great players great. Do you remember this era of guitar? The wah pedal was a crutch and sax players still did solos. This is just after Slash's solo on Welcome to the Jungle which brought the wah back (Metallica was well known but not the behemoth it is today). Keyboard was playing drums during the intro !!! Loved these days.

That closing version of "Put a Little Love In Your Heart", sung by Al Green with all rhe diverse performers from this show backing him, should be the Democratic Party theme song in the year of'24, when the fear and hate, and lies and misrepresentations of the Republican Party are so horrid.
