These aren't usually paycuts. Ocho is partially right. They move the base salary down and spread it back not forward. Then they convert part of the base into bonuses to spread it out more. It is most definitely a restructure.

Keenan was out for 7 games 2 seasons ago and 4 games this recent season. Mike Williams, who is their 2nd option, was out 4 games 2 seasons ago and he missed pretty much the entirety of this recent season. The Chargers defense (which consumes a ton of their cap) hasn't ranked above 21st in Herbert's entire career. Last season they were 24th. The year before that, they were 29th. The defense has been a huge failure, they can't run the ball, and their top 2 receivers haven't been healthy together since 3 years ago. Idk what you want Herbert to do lol. I know it's cool to hate on Herbert now, but it's just silly to point at Keenan as if that's "surrounding" Herbert with talent.

Well, this was Keenan’s best season, and that says it all. He’s amazing, he’s 32 and he’s injury prone and he wants tons of targets…. In other words, he’s not worth it. If Khalil Mack is willing to take a cut, Keenan could have too… it’s his choice to put money first. Millionaires wanting more millions is not good for team building. He’s out and the chargers are better off without him

Mack didn't take a pay cut. He restructured. He gets to keep all of his money and the cap hit this yeae gets lowered now but more is put down the line.

I think GB offered Adams more money. He said his decision was due to Rodgers retiring or not and now wanting to wait on GB to "rebuild". To be fair, rebuilding for most teams is a least a year or two. GB did it a season later and had massive success. He also wanted to reunite with Carr but we all know how that worked out. Money is great but Adams comes across as someone who wants a ring as well. I don't see him getting there in the AFC. Too much competition.

Love Keenan, hope he does well, but everyone was asked to take a pay cut. Herbert was the only exception but the teason for that is they intentionally frontloaded his new deal so by year two it will free up cap space to load out the team.

Too many people get hung up on state income tax. A state that doesn't have it makes up for it by having higher property taxes, sales, gas, etc...

Keenan’s a hell of a route runner, but when he goes against the Revis’s of the world and Surtains etc he gets slowed down

Life long chargers fan!!!!! Would love to see keenan in the powder blue still, but a 37 million cap hit is crazy. I understand why they let him go, but hope they do like they did with LT. When he decides to retire, they give him that 1 day contract and he reitres as a charger. This years draft is loaded with receivers, and we got the no 5 pick, i can see their logic on this. Doesn't make me super happy, but it is understandable
