Man, that original idea for NC3 sounds really cool, especially for 2001. But maybe that would have actually been a bit too ambitious for the time.

I guess that sounds fair. I think Nightmare Creatures 3 and remakes of the first two games would be more viable today when developed for current-gen consoles like PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Imagine a new Assassin’s Creed-type game that doubled down on the gothic horror being released today.

Wow I'm pleasantly surprised that the original game's developers were inspired by a Tim Powers book. The first Monkey Island game was also inspired by one of his books, On Stranger Tides. Seems like a lot of game devs were reading his stuff back then, and if you're reading this comment, so should you! He's an underrated author these days.

My brother was a huge fan of horror games back when we received the PS1, Resident Evil trilogy, Silent Hill, Nightmare Creatures 1 and 2, Alone in the Dark, Dino Crisis 1 and 2, just to name a few, but I was like 6yo, these kind of games scared the living hell out of me but I would still watch him play, I just couldn't do it for myself. Nowadays (I'm 29 and he's 33) Survival Horror is my fav genre next to RPGs. Nightmare Creatures 2 however, has a special place in my heart because it was the very first horror game I dared to play on my own after watching my brother complete the game a couple of times, I already knew what to do and that gave me a sense of safety.

When NC was originally released, 3D gaming was still in its infancy and the game felt so next level. The combo based combat system. The large, intricately designed levels. The disturbingly well designed creatures. But, the sequel totally dropped the ball. In all the ways the OG game pulled ahead, the follow up fell behind. Wondered what that steep drop in quality was all about. Now I know. Cool. Still want my $42 back.

Totally loved the atmosphere and the gritty feel that seemed damn near tangibly palpable- in all honesty despite being one of my favorite games in my 64 library, I somehow managed to utterly forget about this game entirely and then in 2015 when I had acquired the absolute perfection that is Bloodborne- I felt the brick wall of nostalgic memories flood through my mind and my heart and soul began to radiate and swell with total euphoric joy and utter elation….. since then anything that reminds me of Bloodborne brings me back to that moment and I can’t help but think of Nightmare Creatures & vice versa…. Never played NC1, but played the hell out of NC2. If there's something I remember about is the insane difficulty, the clunky controls and the anticlimactic ending and end boss fight.

really stoked to see FMF2 getting attention at the intro. FMF1 was so good!

The original Nightmare Creatures is one of those few PS1 games I owned for my PS2. Very fun title. I especially loved the cheat codes that let you play as almost every enemy in the game.

To be honest, I loved NC 2. I played NC 1 but couldn't even finish it. So yeah, I hope someday we get to see a new entry or at least a remaster for both games

So many fond memories of Nightmare creatures the original Bloodborne de-make. Making it to the final level thinking the game was glitched because the boss DID NOT want to die

Hi, thank you- I remember wanting to play Nightmare Creatures when I was younger and never did, but I’m looking forward to playing the Forgive Me Father series now that I know of it, thank you
