Let's Build "Old" Tamiya 1/48th Tank - Crusader Mk III

Night Shift

4 жыл бұрын

How about we try one of those "old school" OG Tamiya 1/48th kits from 2007? Is there any difference in quality, or were they ahead of their time?
Crusader is one of their early releases. It could be a downsized Italeri 1/35 kit, because Tamiya is known for doing that with some of their other releases (M-13/40 and Panzerkampfwagen 35t), but then it was definitely refined and refurbished, because everything has beautiful crisp molding and the kit just falls together... like a dream!

That is biggest pro of being an armor modeler compared to making ships, aircrafts or cars: We can fuck it up and we can fuck it up badly - And then throw mud, tarps or storage on there and call it a feature.

This is unbelievably relatable. The drive sprocket is bent ? Don't sweat it, let's just say the tank crashed into something. Oh, I lost a headlight, bummer... Let's say the crew lost it in a sandstorm ! Ah shoot, I broke the hull MG... Ah fuck it, let's carve another one with my hobby blade. It 1/48 scale, my vision's so blurry I can't see the difference anyway.

I had and have a hard time remembering "pewter" for things like old Warhammer models too, because tin is "Zinn" in German as you might probably know.. And let's be honest here guys, it basically and usually is just that - tin. Also, why are they "tin soldiers" instead of "pewter soldiers"? It's really confusing at times. From Wikipedia: "Pewter (/ˈpjuːtər/) is a malleable metal alloy composed of 85-99% tin, mixed with approximately 5-10% antimony, 2% copper, bismuth, and sometimes silver.[1]" As usual, nice video :) Keep them coming!

Nice done. I have great sentiment for Crusader, one of my first tanks in 1/72 scale was nice Crusader from Revell. So, great to see that from Tamiya. All the best for You! ;)
