I agree with you. When I started watching Martin's lessons - started adding a little texture and seams to each model. But now I'm suffering... without the difference of models. Example: T-34 from dragon and MSD (Real plastic firewood) The experience has grown so much that only the color of the plastic distinguishes them. I feel like an insatiable student who wants knowledge and is waiting for a new lesson.

Just listened to your interview on the Sprue Cutters Union podcast and you hit all the highlights of that episode in this video haha- gloss before decal, MRP evangelizing, and the power of inks. Great video as always! Not to mention it's nice to see some Soviet steel again- there's something so brutal and alluring about the designs. You certainly do these subjects justice with your work. The story that unfolds from what you've presented thus far really captures the reality of Soviet wartime industry in a way that makes the history come alive. As a curiosity, have you ever considered doing a kit from start to finish without an airbrush (except for maybe varnishing) for the channel? I'd be interested to see how far brush techniques can go and what skills you're able to refine, discover, or master. Cheers!

Excellent work! In the world of AFVs, it's mostly earth tones and dull/drab colors (all about blending in) - amazing how you make this field interesting as you say. I see why the 4BO is a nice change. Kinda on the same subject as blending in, I understand the "thought" behind invasion strips, but sure seems to counter the notion of camo.... cheers.

Hi Martin! This is definitely the best soviet green base coating ever! I love your models and I started building tanks (I was an aircraft modeller) thanks to you. I’ve learned a lot and I’m going to build a king tiger from takom in 1/35 scale, inspired buy a book called “ PANZERS IN BERLIN 1945” where I found this tiger 311 with some photos and instantly fell in love with it. Hope you’ll do another cat soon, maybe the royal one!

Very authentic Russian color palette. You are right about Tamiya's yellow-green. It's useful for shading US WWII cockpits, as well. I find that I enjoy mixing to get the right color that I want. Gunze Sanyo has some off the wall colors that come in handy, too. Nice work, as usual.

Thank you for paying attention to Soviet armored vehicles. I would like to make a small clarification regarding the color of the paint. Russian modelers have long been discussing the topic of painting Soviet armored vehicles during the Great Patriotic War. True 4BO paint has not been produced since 1952. However, according to various sources, it was possible to restore the approximate composition and color. In the RSL color space, it has the following composition: 96-87-55 or a lighter version - 103-91-61. I think that if you have a calibrated monitor, you can quite accurately prepare a mixture of paints to simulate 4BO paint.
@jczeus
@jczeus 2 жыл бұрын
Well, I don't think 4BO wasn't as standardized as are colors today. Then there is the issue of exposure to sunlight. One would think that colors always fade, but that applies only to years of exposure, which was hardly the norm in wartime. One source states that 4BO could get darker, not lighter, when exposed to sunlight. In short, I wouldn't worry too much about the one "true" 4BO...
@abstractintell
@abstractintell 2 жыл бұрын
@@jczeus As for the influence of the Sun, then, of course, the color changed. However, the composition of 4BO was strictly regulated. Even the pigments that were part of this paint were of a strictly defined origin. Of course, upon the arrival of equipment in combat units, it was sometimes repainted to match the conditions of the area, and in winter it was completely changed color.

Night Shift could you please do a video of a Games Workshop Leman Russ tank? It's an old kit, very simple, with lots of blank spaces that I think you could really go to town on with your skills and knowledge of tanks, and show just what is possible with it. Incredibly for a 30 year old kit that has sold a lot, there are few examples out there with stowage, weld beads or extra details. I think it would prove a very popular video. Thanks!

Wow, amazing work as always Martin, just a question with airbrushing though. How do you airbrush without the nozzle, I know it allows for more detail but whenever I try to do it it doesn't work. Anything I should be doing? It's probably got something to do with the PSI, and how thinned the paint is (thats my guess).
