Floor had only joined the Nightwish tour about 10 months before this concert happened so for many of the audience it was their first time seeing Floor in Nightwish...

I was sleeping on this song until I saw them do it live this summer and now its one of my top 5 Nightwish songs of all time.

There is smth. in Nightwish music, yess, there is indeed. Tuomas is a creative musician , but also a great poet too. I think these kind of people like Tuomas only happen once in a hundred years, if not less often. I´m glad we can live in the same time. Thank you for your truly comments. Around @5:45, the instrument is both Marco's bass and the Tympani on the recorded track... tymps can be tuned (they have a foot pedal that tensions the drum-head) and they sound HUGE. They are hard to mic up rightas the fundamental note is very very low but the note attack has a surprising amount of high overtones in it.

Thanks for the reactions :) If you can get tickets for a concert you will not be disappointed. I have seen them twice now, first time was a year ago December in Dusseldorf to a small crowd of about 11,000, I could not get tickets for them in Belgium it was not opened up to international sales, so contacting the promoter they advised me to to to a travel agent in Aachen in Germany to get tickets. So I call the travel agent and the lady there advises me we would have to go in person, ... this is with less than a week to the concert. My wife and I go to Aachen and go to the travel agent and there are very few seats left, as an aging ex American Football player my knees are shot so need seats to last the night, all that's left is random seats in the tribunes or the full Monty business club tickets, so we took them, we went in to the dome and the setting was luxurious with a buffet meal laid on, as we had not eaten we had complimentary drinks and a 3 course meal while Turmion Kätilöt played, they were not really our cup of tea, but we seen their last number and then Beast in Black came on Wow! what a group, '90s Power Metal revisited with the tongue firmly in cheek Yannis Papadopoulos their singer was fantastic they were full on from beginning to end, they are well worth checking out especially Yannis' cover of Ghost Love Score - he could almost replace Floor ;) Then it was time for another drink and then Nightwish F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C the music, the lights, the pyro, the whole show was from beginning to the end something else, my wife whom is not a Nightwish fan asked: "Can we do it again?" oh, we were the last out the stadium apart from the artists and crew! So she got tickets for June in Gelsenkirchen for my 67th birthday and we had a fantastic day out in Germany beside the canal watching the barges sailing on one of the hottest days of the year, we met other fans of Nightwish (my wife now says they are very good... and when can we see them again? ... but is not a fan!) A 6 month pregnant Floor dancing across the stage and singing as if it was nothing, What and energy, there were only 7000 at Gelsenkirchen but it was an intimate concert in a very special amphitheatre beside the canal, wife, music, boats, and Floor what more can a guy ask for Can't wait to hear and see your reaction to My Walden.

I first saw this when I bought the DVD in 2019. I'd seen GHOST LOVE SCORE & ROMANTICIDE on KZfaq - was very impressed and decided not to watch anymore until the disks arrived. This song was confirmation I'd done the right thing in waiting 2 days so I could really enjoy my purchase - it was difficult holding off from watching more online videos though. Very fine band and their live videos are always a treat. 🇬🇧🤘🤘

Floor famously joined the band partway through the tour. I was lucky enough to see the third show with her taking over vocals, in San Francisco, CA. I had a VIP meet-and-greet ticket. The band was great, and Floor was wonderful, humble, friendly, and just happy to be there. I could tell during the show that there were some songs that she knew back to front and others that she wasn't yet sure on, and that added to the charm of it. Some years later, on their Endless Forms Most Beautiful tour, they came back through and I got to see them again. They were all great again, open and friendly, without any of that ego baggage that American stars seem to have. Floor was just as down-to-earth as she was the first time, but now it was her band and her music, and she was flawless. I'd read that they had no intention of playing The Greatest Show On Earth live because it's just so long, but they played it at that show, and it was amazing. Yes, you absolutely need to see them live when they next tour. Of course, without Marko it's a very different band, a very different sound, leaning a bit less metal and a bit more folk, especially on those songs where Troy takes over the male vocals. But they're still amazing. I look forward to seeing what their next album is like, and hopefully watching another of their live shows, if they come anywhere near where I live.

Every time I get in my car and go somewhere, the first 3 songs that I play are Dark Chest of Wonders, Storytime, Ghost River from this concert, then the rest.

My fav concert and second place Wembley 2015. I'm an eighties metal head and avid D&D player and fantasy lover. Nightwish brought all my musical dreams come true. Yes there music encourage us to improve and experiment musically. I believe this style of music maybe the future. Even Steve Harris from Iron maiden thinks so.

One of the three or four great openers. All about going back across the sea of life to the innocence of childhood when all of life ahead eas a wonder. Yes a longband gruelling tour and huge audiences. If you had found this band earlier you could have seen them on tour but I guess that's US media for you.

Great reaction! This festival and this song was Floor's coming out party for Nightwish's massive European fanbase. She had been with the band about 10 months and had mainly been touring in North and South America. Only a few small shows in Europe before the festival. Many oif the fans knew Floor from her previous bands After Forever and Revamp and were eager to see what Nightiwsh and Floor would sound like together. As you can see, right from that dramatic entrance , she grabbed the audience's heart and has never let go.

Well, Floor🌷 enters and the rest is history. She doesn't even need to sing, just enters and BOOM the world is on fire and the crowd loses its breath.. the Goddess unleashed.

Lets dig into this, Tuomas writes from observation and experiences. You know he has some well used pseudonyms for himself in lyrics with references thereto, so when you have boy, poet, dreamer, writer/song writer or ocean soul in a lyric, it is Tuomas referencing himself. The dark chest did and maybe does still exist, Tuomas as a small child found it in his grand parents attic full of toys and story books that carried his imagination off in excitement to all manner of wondrous places. Therefore throughout this song Floor sings "of the one” in a very high head voice, just as you might expect from an excited small child, that being Tuomas himself. Now look at the lyrics again and it all makes sense, Tuomas never includes notes or lyrics that are "fillers" or embellishment, it is all there for a very good reason, sometimes almost impenetrable or ambiguous. "Of the one with pure heart, once so long ago", Tuomas the Peter Pan child as he has said he is.

This opener was just perfect for this concert!!

Oh, very good point about Nightwish music inspiring creativity. I've tried writing to NW songs, but I always get drawn in by the music to the point that I forget to write. However, I can listen to NW before writing. Sometimes listening to the instrumental versions of NW tracks works too.

Concerts are usually far from my house, a lot of way to go, there are too many people for my taste... But I have to go to a Nightwish concert at least once !!

NW have been using this as an opener for much of the last couple of decades or so.

Keep up with Nighwish but don't forget about Epica, they have so many great songs too
