I cant imagine Nightwish without Floor. She is an angel with electrifying voice and stage performance. Never seen such a talented singer. Always Jaw drop and goose bumps.

It is quite clear that Toumas Holopainen is a very very intelligent person. It's so clear by his composure on subject he does not want to talk about. Calm and collected and of course tired from all touring. But you can see in his eyes, his intellect shines through.

I saw the Waken show On youtube, I didn't know Floor Jansen at all and I believe that she is by FAR the best singer nightwish ever got. It's all a matter of taste but still, Her presence, voice and character works really well with the whole vibe of the band.

Tuomas is quite the interesting fellow. I can never tell what he's thinking during these interviews. I feel like we only ever see his true emotions and thoughts in his music/lyrics. A lot of people like to paint him as an petty evil dictator who enjoys manipulating the band members, but I have a hard time believing that. But at the same time I can see how he can come off as strange or intimidating. Then again we don't know how he acts off camera behind the scenes with the rest of the band. I just honestly can't read his facial expressions or behavior haha. Anyway I'm just rambling. Hopefully Floor stays with Nightwish for a good many years :) Here's to a new era \m/

Floor in my opinion is in this very moment the best female metal voice,she saved imaginaerum tour for us with those amazing performances,she deserves an album with nightwish,will be the most expecting album of the genre.

I think Floor will stay with Nightwish for a long time. From everything I've read, and everything I've heard, she's the singer they wanted from the beginning.

There is no denying Tuomas is a musical genius. But you cannot tune a human being (much), so you have to work with the human voice you can find. Floor seems both grateful for the opportunity and rightfully proud of her abilities. I hope they choose to get along and see the beauty of the band and the girl, and not see either as eclipsing the other. Music is both the imagining of the emotion (Tuomas) and the channeling of that emotion (the band...and Floor).

i liked the chemistry floor had with the band in the concerts and i enjoyed listening to her and i hope she does stay with nightwish

She is so sweet. I took a video of them at their last show and she looked straight at the camera several times! She clearly cares about Nightwish... Tuomas should let her stay without any second thoughts!

Interesting to read some comments about Tuomas,and his emotions/expressions. One short answer made me smile and laugh abit though. "Its just cause hes Finnish". I have actually talked with numberous Finnish people,who agreed upon the same thing. They thought of theyr own kind (Finnish people) as somewhat cold on the outside,might come off as cold people in public. But if you take the time to get to know them,they blossom with emotions and expressions. As a Nordic brother of Tuomas and Finnish people,i can truly relate. Many has stated that it can be of the clima/weather we have in most parts of the Nordic countries. A long,hard winter,a extremely short spring,a short summer,then abit longer fall,before the much longer winter again. Some actually never experiences true summer,as it goes from straight over from signs of spring,to fall again. It all depends on where you live,within each Nordic country. Also,i have learned to know Tuomas through media,as a rather uncomfortable person in the spotlights. He prefers smaller clubs,venues to play in,above huge stadiums/arenas they sell out. Most in the band might feel the same. And he comes off very humble,doesnt like to talk about himself too much. But rather focus on the other members if asked,or focus on Nightwish as a whole,rather then individuals.

I am so glad that Floor stayed with the band. Floor and the band go good together.

On paper, and judging from recent tour performances, Floor and Nightwish are THE perfect match. Nightwish needs a strong vocalist with a good range, epic intensity and stage presence - which Floor has - and Floor needs a brilliant composer and popular band to front (she loves performing to big audiences) - which Nightwish has. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether Floor and the NW boys get on well and find they have a spark/personal chemistry together! Fingers crossed.

I read an interesting article about how Tarja's departure introduced a growth in Tuomas' writing that was held back by her very specific style of vocals. Anette's style helped him become the song-writer that he is today, and it seems like Floor will help continue that tradition. Hopefully she lasts longer than 2 albums.

I'm glad to see someone actually mention Sammi for once! I always really enjoyed his bass style and it's something I miss, though I enjoy Marco's style too. It's a shame he gets so overshadowed, but I guess inevitable when the next bassist has such a presence as Marco does.

Shes good and i love Marcos as a singer, everyone who mentions Tarja really its been how many years since she left the band i wish people would stop complaining about it if your fans she has a solo career now so you can still listen to her if you wish but she did not make Nightwish.

She wasn't ridiculed because she wasn't Tarja. She was ridiculed because they didn't like her voice. Her voice didn't suit what made the most famous Finnish band so popular. So all of you fans out there, please stop saying all she can do is sing like Tarja and Anette. I've most likely listened to this woman way longer than most of you, and there is more to her than what you saw in the Nightwish performances. Be grateful you have someone with so much talent and dedication in this band.

Yea she left Monday October 1st and Floor replaced Annette that same day to continue the American concerts. I actually did not know anything about Floor and when I found out about Annette leaving that day, I was not sure about going to the concert anymore because I would have loved to hear Annette sing live to the songs from the new album because I felt it was better than the last. When I had gone to the concert that Saturday, Floor just did an amazing job and I was not disappointed at all!

So nice to listen to this interview, and be aware how Wacken 2013 became that awesome gig, with all those close to perfect songs in the set and the exchange of energy with the audience.

Tuomas already knew she's THE ONE.

This interview happened about 9 months before the magical Wacken 2013 show. And Floor was already signed as permanent member of the band before that show even though it was announced only later for marketing reasons.

Tuomas's English is extremely good. I'm a natural born English speaker, and I think that he's a better speaker than me. Floor is a really good English speaker as well. I hope this band keeps going.

He took the high road. I think he learned from the last separation. Good for him. No need to make it a public soap opera. Sometimes thing just don't work out. Fans don't need to know everything.

As usual he didn't speak much, but he said to me that nobody was going to be able to stop his love for Tarja. After this unhappy meeting, everything changed. The guy that until then said in interviews that, without Tarja, that would be the end of Nightwish, changed his message into: Nightwish is my band, my music, my lyrics, the scenery of my soul. Is up to you to check all interviews from the band before and after end of 2004 until today.

a lot of people still grieve over Tarja, but Nightwish wasn't just Tarja alone. Anette was ok but a band like this requires a stronger voice, and Floor is absolutely amazing! AND most importantly she suits their music, she can carry the songs both old and new and she simply fits in, she has a powerful appearance too. Now again they sound their best live, Floor may be the best thing that happened to them!

i want to hear the story of when she proposed changing the ending, and what was the reaction the first time they heard her Floorgasm note. i want a bottle of Imaginaerum wine!

I think most people who are thinking objectively can see that Floor is an exceptionally talented vocalist and Nightwish could only benefit from having her as a permanent member. However, from what I can tell, Floor is still heavily involved in her own band. She is talented enough that she has lots of options. It seems odd to think of it this way, but joining Nightwish might not actually be a step up for her.

I relate to Tuomas my band had 3 people leave in less than a years time we replaced them and we are still going

I thought that "Once" sounded so dramatic... I thought it could be made into a rock musical or something so when I heard about Imaginaerum I was so excited!! I can't wait for its release later this month... I kept watching out to see if it would be released in theatres here in Ireland.

Floor has her own band and projects as well(ReVamp). Whoever they decide for a singer, I just hope she'll be able to sing classical AND rock so we can get at least one song from all of the albums

I think that is why Floor is not an offical member yet, they want to see if they get along well and if it doesn't really work out they just want to avoid any more drama... Hopefully though we will see Floor as an offical member in a not so distant future! :)

If you have yet to see the Imaginaerum movie. You will want to see it. It brings the album to life even though the score in the movie is not the album songs. A well done movie from a great band. If you have the ability, see the movie. It is incredible.

I developed a new respect for Tuomas after this interview. The way he refuses to dish any dirt on the parting of ways between Nightwish and Annette. I think it shows a great deal of ethics and respect to not rehash the situation for everyone who ask. All too often band trash former members and Tuomas simply refuses to sink to that level. As a side note, the hat is truly classic. Regardless of what the next incarnation of the band brings, I will still be a fan.

Floor Jansen is an incredible singer and she would be a great fit for Nightwish. I've been a fan of Nightwish for a long time and you just have to accept that bands change. I didn't love the Annette stuff but she is also talented and the songwriting was a step up in complexity. I would like to see Nightwish strip it back a little bit and go back to their roots and to start again with a skilled vocalist like Floor it could be a good opportunity.

It feels like she's gonna stay, but the part that makes it seem unlikely is that Floor generally writes her own lyrics and is definitely involved in the songwriting, whereas Tuomas has said himself that he doesn't want anyone else to write lyrics in the band. Not sure if there could be the proper writing chemistry that way.
