Troy was singing in Welsh at the beginning. He sings lead on the song Harvest…worth checking it out. You might also like I Want My Tears Back or Alpenglow…they have a similar Celtic vibe.

I concur. Elvenjig is a folky intro they added to Elvenpath in live performances. It’s a twist of a song called “Jigs” from a previous Troy’s band called Iona. Elvenpath is the first song of the first album of Nightwish, back in 1997. Here is the link: Elvenjig + Elvenpath (live in Buenos Aires) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7hzbKp31JfZZ6s.html

Please consider reacting to TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - "A LIFETIME of ADVENTURE" (Official Video) In 2014 Tuomas released a solo album inspired by a graphic novel by Don Rosa, the illustrator/ storyteller. The album is a soundtrack to a film that does not exist. Such a beautiful song. Totally different from Nightwish music, but as great. Vocals by Mrs. Holopainen, Johanna Kurkela. Originally Tuomas was against releasing a single/video, but Nuclear Blast Records insisted for marketing purposes. They agreed to publish the album even before listening to it. Tuomas was so taken by the trust they showed, that he agreed to make this video. I'm glad about that. I return to this video over and over again. Before, hopefully, reacting I suggest you watch a three minute video: "Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova - Part One" Interesting and funny story about how they met, and how the album was, finally, recorded in London. I also suggest you read some comments on the music video. The first one tells how big an impact music can have on us. It can sometimes change one's life.

Since the addition of Troy it was possible to add a little taste of Celtic folk metal to the Nightwish sound. You two nailed it again! Inspired by Henry David Thoreau. Tuomas is a big fan of the classic literary giants. I will taste the manna in every tree Liquid honey and wine from the distant hills An early morning greenwood concerto Greets my Walden with its eternal voice Weaving my wings from many-colored yarns Flying higher, higher, higher into the wild Weaving my world into tapestry of life Its fire golden, in my Walden I do not wish to evade the world Yet, I will forever build my own Build all the way, forever my own Forever my home

My Walden is about the book 'my Walden' - the house in the forest by the pond / lake where you can find your ultimate home and piece and be 100% yourself. Marko referred to this when he left Nightwish, because he couldn't stand the money-men, or rather the money trail to The Middle East - in the big music industry, on the world tours. He wanted to find his 'Walden' in music, without these greedy people, which he won't support. *** It's one of my favorites - Floor and Troy are doing excellent in this one. You should consider doing either 'The Carpenter' from Buenos Aires 2018 - Floor and Troy also doing an amazing duet Or 'Deep Silent Complete' - also from Buenos Aires 2018. It's a song and a performance you haven't seen before from Floor - but something Nightwish/Floor are using more and more - like in their current outtro 'Ad Astra' - from their official song to World Land Trust (amazing piece of music). Link is here!!! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jNmYo7Nzp8vMqHk.html

I love the whole 30 minute orchestral piece that Ad Astra is a part of (All the Works of Nature That Adorn the World). Really showcases what an amazing composer Tuomas is. Sue, you got the meaning of My Walden perfectly! Finding one's own Walden is to find a place, whether a physical location or a state of mind that let's you feel at one with nature; at peace with the world. With a nod to Mental Health Awareness Month, I'd like to ask everyone to check in with loved ones, friends and neighbors...esp elderly who live alone. There is still a stigma to asking for help when you feel depressed... but offering a listen or a hug (I know I've missed hugs since covid!) can really change someone's day. Tell the greeter at Walmart they look nice, or just wish them a nice day. Start a conversation w a stranger at the market. And if you have the means...it is kitten season...if you can foster for a few weeks, please do it! You'll change their fortunes and receive much.joy!! I hug you ALL!!

Wolfman needs a rocking chair😁 This Tampere was gig was special 20 000+ Finnish spectators and Floor's parents among the audience. Floor has told in interview, that her parents were among the audience and looking at them in certain songs would have literally and mentally rose "lump in her throat"...
@rnowak852 жыл бұрын
Originally Nightwish was supposed to be a folk music group. But Taraja's vocals were so powerful they knew it wouldn't work, so symphonic metal became their direction. For more of Tuomas and Troy's folky side checkout their side project Auri with Tuomas's wife Johanna. Desert Flower is a good introduction. Another genre you might be interested in checking out is folk metal. Bands like Eluveitie ( Call of the Wild, Rose for Epona) and Saltatio Mortis (My Mother Told Me) are good examples.

Hi you too, another lovely reaction, thank you. As someone has already mentioned, Troy's opening is Welsh but he is a fellow Englishman from the North East. I do apologise in advance for this lengthy post but I know how hungry you are to find new bands. I hope you don't mind my suggesting quite a few?! From Japan I highly recommend 'Babymetal' (who are unfortunately very strong on copyright, but other reactors seem to find ways of counteracting this) they are 3 lovely girls who are backed by an amazing heavy band called the Kami Band. Next band from Japan is an extremely talented 5 piece all female band called 'Lovebites' - I would suggest starting with 'Swansong ' but it has to include the Chopin piano introduction (a lot of reactors miss this!). I would also like to recommend a really good Canadian band called 'Unleash the Archers' , very talented too. Not sure if you've covered a Dutch band called 'Epica' before?! - the lead singer is Simone Simmons (one of Floor's besties) and Floor appeared as a guest in one of their concerts (with full orchestra and choir) singing a couple of songs 'Sancta Terra' and a beautiful classical duet called 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa' which I'm sure you'll recognise when you hear it. Another German band who are very melodic called 'Beyond the Black' and sadly not covered enough on KZfaq are also fronted by a multi talented young lady who can sing, play the piano, flute and I think the Cello too?"Songs of Love and Death" is a cracking tune! They're doing a tour with another Swedish Band 'Amaranthe' also fronted by a lovely lady called 'Elize Ryd' who I believe auditioned for Nightwish after Tarja left but missed out to Annette Olsen. Another band (currently supporting Nightwish in the States - LA tonight I think? - and in Europe) is 'Beast in Black' - they are an interesting mix of good 80's style anthemic metal with similar keyboard patches from the same era . Yannis Papadopoulos , the singer, has an insane range and has done his own version of Ghost Love Score which is not to be missed!! I could go on but I think I might have lost you good people already 😆 🤣 😂 P.S I just have to mention 'Ayreon', especially a song called 'Everybody Dies' it's a combination of a lot of different artists and Floor Jansen's Sister 'Irene' is on backing vocals!! Last but not least 'Kamelot' - the lead singer Tommy features in the previous Ayreon song I mentioned. One of Kamelot's songs is 'Sacrimony' which features 'Elize Ryd' from the band 'Amaranthe' whom I mentioned earlier. The live version is great as well as the video. Sorry I've gone on so long - hope you haven't fallen asleep?!! 😆 🤣 Take good care of yourselves.

For a long time Troy used to play with progressive Celtic rock band Iona. They're worth checking out as well.

The language sung by Troy at the beginning of the song is Welsh. Troy plays the Uilleann pipes and the Low Whistle. Both are Irish instruments. Marko is Playing an Warwick Infinity / Panthera Double neck Bass and Guitar ( It is called THE BEAST). Walden is a book by Henry David Thoreau, chronically the two years he lived by Walden Pond, seeking solitude and a oneness with nature by living simply and creating an environment that suited him and no one else. He interacted with others, selling beans he had grown, but did not integrate with their institutions. The line in the song “ I do not wish to evade the world, yet I will forever build my own,” captures that nicely, I think. NWSU 🤘😎🤘.

Great reaction, thank you again. One of my favorites from NW. Tam-pe-re -> 1. The letter "a" in "Tam" is pronounced like the letter "u" in English words: sun, run, gun, duck, etc. 2. "pe" is pronounced like in English words: pedestrian, penicillin, pedant, etc. 3. "re" is pronounced like in English words: record, ready, rebellion, etc. but with a rolling "r" (as all "r" letters in Finnish).
