For those who are wondering, Troy is playing a Fylde Irish Bouzouki and the guitar part of Marko's Warwick bass is a Framus guitar. Also, the greatness of Nightwish is how easy they're able to make complexity look so easy and of course they are absolutely amazing skillfull.

Yes, we can hear the purrrrr. 😸 From the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album, it's one of the heavier songs on the record. I like that Kai gets showcased a bit in this. The song is a criticism of the negative aspects of organized religion. They aren't opposed to one having beliefs or to religion in general, just some of the things that have been done , by man, in the name of religion.

This is my favorite Nightwish song, it's a full banger musically and the lyrics are absolute daggers. Personally I don't think Tampere is a huge amount different but the visuals are quite different. I will say that many Nightwish songs don't immediately blow me away. If I'm honest only the Anette era singles, Storytime being the prime example, hit me fully on the first listen, because they are intentionally simple and poppy. When Tuomas has worked with his full depth some of my favorites only became so after revisiting. This song is similar in message and concept to Tribal. The once upon a time part is among the greatest Nightwish moments to me.

I think this song is a grower (and you were quite distracted). I'm pretty sure it didn't strike me too much at first listen as well...to be honest, I'm quite often like that, so I would be a horrible reactor 😂 But give it few times and I'm sure you find it great too. For me there are not many NW songs that are only ok. Great to see Bruno is still with you ❤

Hi Bruno, good to see you, and welcome back to you both! This is a NW song that I think is massively improved live. It is probably my least favourite on the studio album, certainly very near the bottom anyway; as a result the live performances get a boost, but although thoroughly enjoyable it's still not a favourite of mine and I can relate to your feelings. Next up _is_ one of my faves, though, so you'd better like it! (Joke. You feel how you feel, no hate here.) All the best.

@The Metal Muse: After yesterday, I am grateful you still have Bruno, Dom. I lost my boy Bear due to old age yesterday afternoon (I'm in the US Eastern Standard Time timezone), at roughly 12:30 pm. He was 15 years old, and in his last week, wasn't eating anything. He also knew his time was getting short. But he was a good boy, him and his brother Toby both. It just hurts to lose a friend like a kitty or a doggo when they been a part of your life for over a decade. If you could, Dom, I have a request to make: Yaad by Bloodywood. Yaad is specifically about losing pets or other family, and is an emotional, cathartic song to listen to.

This song is one of my favorites but I'd not seen the Wembley version before and I agree with you, it's kinda "meh". As everyone and their brother has already pointed out, Tampere will give you a very different experience. If I can make a suggestion?.... I always liked those blocks of crystal they do the 3D laser burning inside the block and it looks like a 3D portrait in the middle? That would be an awesome keepsake for you with Bruno. They would only need your favorite photo with him and they literally burn it I side the crystal. OR You can have him put in a giant Pokémon card if you're into that sort of thing. I hope you include him in your videos as long as he's around.... Bruno is a very handsome boy. Give him a scratch for me too! I, for one, always appreciate honesty. Not every song can be your new favorite, though it certainly happens a lot. Some are going to be just okay. For myself I always liked the message of this song but I have to admit that as a Nightwish song it's not as multidimensional and compositionally interesting as many of the others.

At another time and venue, this song may have captured you. But for right now, you are applying your attention towards its best and highest purpose. "In Praise of Cat" The classiest state of being there is.

Don't like the track much myself and I would have loved if you'd been able to go into specifics. Something you seldom see alas. Some of the most entertaining/inspired film reviews I've ever had the pleasure to read were those from ppl who didn't like what they saw. Anyhew, my two specific points are the transition into the folky part: drags on for too long w/o much happening. A change-up for changeup's sake imo. Then there's the ending. You have two stellar vocalists crying out in a powerful crescendo and [BOOM you'd think, the end] then a redundant number of bars are added by way of ending the song. The overall message "need for a better tale" is nice enough but where Tuomas gets into specifics it would've been nice if another belief system had been referenced instead of the tired old dig at Christianity. For comparison, take Floor Jansen's first band After Forever (mainly Mark Jansen in that dept.). They at least had the guts to openly criticize radical Islam in e.g. "Follow In The Cry". Bruno looking a bit ragged 🙁 Weak Fantasy has grown on me over the years and is now my No 6. You might have a different opinion if you watched Tampere instead and werent (rightly) distracted. Try revisiting in a few months at Tampere. This is about organised religion. Hete are some band comments: One of the very best, growing on me all the time. This song, being anti-organised religion, caused a lot of controversy. Here are some band comments about that: MARCO: What comes to the new lyrics, "Weak Fantasy" was the only one that actually hints at ancient tribal literature We obviously realized that religion is a touchy subject and that we'd have to carefully consider the tone of the lyrics. It's still funny that you can publicly criticize and mock art and politics as much as you want, as well as artists and politicians but when you stick your finger in the hornet's nest of religion.. uh-oh. TROY: We were working on "Weak Fantasy" for quite a while. Tuomas originally used more direct, aggressive metaphors, but in the end, we decided to opt for a more ambiguous tone. Some people might still find "Weak Fantasy" confrontational, but you can have different interpretations as well. The wisdom is in the eye of the beholder. TUOMAS: We discussed this stuff with the band for hours on end, and everybody stood behind the lines in Weak Fantasy" for instance. In Nightwish, I have never felt the need to neither rebel nor preach, and that hasn't changed, but if the listener stops to consider different viewpoints because of our music, that's always great. There's never enough open, intelligent, and unprejudiced discussion in the world. Marco- There's obviously nothing wrong with leaning a higher power per se. A belief in something supernatural can comfort you and help you get through the day. But its just horrible when people use ancient religions as an excuse for their own utterly condemnable acts or to instigate senseless indiscriminate hatred towards others. Blind fundamentalism seldom leads to anything good, whether you bow to Allah. Jahve, Jesus, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or something else. TROY: As the wisdom goes, if you could reason with a fundamentalist, there would be no fundamentalists. TUOMAS: It's only during the last years that l've started to question my own religious stance. Why have I been a Lutheran and believed in the kind of God Lutherans do? It's simply because I was born in Finland in the 1970's. In another culture, in another time, there would have been another god above others. In 10th century Denmark, I would have worshipped Odin and Thor. If I'd been born North Korean, I would've been forbidden to believe in any kind of Supreme Being In other words: what you believe in - or what you think you believe in - is based on pure coincidence. TROY: It's baffling, but some of my friends are actually afraid that I will be cast intothe fiery pits of hell. I can only compare these dear friends of mine to chain smokers in this respect: they know it's unhealthy, but they still refuse to quit. I don't understand why people believe in something without any proof, yet laugh at other similar beliefs - I mean, if I were to claim that you can live to be 150 by eating just yoghurt, nobody would believe me. They would ask me for some kind of proof and research findings. Why can't they apply this logic universally? TUOMAS: To be precise, I consider my- self an agnostic atheist. I don't believe in God, so that makes me an atheist How do I know that God does not exist? I don't, but neither does anybody else. That's why I am also an agnostic. To confess that you do not know some- thing is actually an intelligent and constructive stance. It makes you humble, unlike a blind belief in something unproven MARCO: We had just returned from an 18-month hiatus, so everybody was itching to make some noise again even to rehearse! It's always interesting to play new material, because new songs are not in muscle memory yet. I'm using a double-neck instrument for "Weak Fantasy" for example, and there's a moment when I have to leave the bass humming, turn on the guitar, and, on a certain eighth note quickly grab the other neck. You have to practise these things quite a bit to be able to play them with confidence.
