Worst part about nightwish's music is that it has an ending

I'd suggest Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd's High Hopes next (live). Marko nails the vocals on that one! It's sooooooo good!!

If you wanna hear more of Marko, their cover of High Hopes is a really good one, probably also their cover of Phantom of the Opera when Tarja was still with them!

Marko is the Incarnation of an metalhead for me. Somehow fierce, friendly, upstanding without beating his chest, tolerant and yet dedicated to metal music:) and you know you did reach metal pantheon, when floor does your background singing. Nice recap stay healthy you two

This is another lovely little Nightwish song. Marko was terrific, playing the guitar on the bottom neck while he usually plays the bass on the upper neck. He also knows how to pick his backup singer.

What Marko says at the break which was not subtitlet is in finnish (his native): "ok, if I do the chorus you will singalong okay? You will? ok then we'll do it"

You missed Marco's humorous introduction to the song. Great Marco song with a pretty good backing vocalist IMO. You may be able to tell that Marco started out on 6 string before he changed to bass. He's excellent at both, hence having The Beast built for himself. Love the look of horror on Dominika's face when it finished! BTW, Marco wrote the music for this. Tuomas supplied the lyrics. Have you done While Your Lips Are Still Red from Wembley yet? I don't recall. There's another channel where, when the lady said she liked her first Nigjtwish song, I commented she would say that to all the songs. I got a long reply saying no band could write songs such that she, or anyone, could like them all. I don't know how many she's done now, but I'm still waiting and I still occasionally throw in the comment that I haven't seen her find the one she doesn't like yet...

Imagine having Floor as your backup singer? Only in this band with other amazing singers and even less egos. I miss Marco. I heard a rumor somewhere about a possible return but for now, it's still a rumor

I almost want to classify Nightwish ballads as underwhelming and then I realise the songs are so beautiful, and my expectations are not what I want them to be. They still have that little extra at the end. The other two that I love are Walking in the Air (Tarja from The Wishes to Eternity concert) and Sleeping Sun. You really can’t go wrong with either Floor or Tarja for that one. For me, it’s what I’m in the mood for. I love both.

I do think their best song is the Greatest show on earth live in Tampere. Is a long ride but really a masterpiece.

The double neck is heavy and therefore quite unpractical. But in some songs Marko plays both the bass and the guitar, and there is no time to ghange to another instrument in the middle of a song. In Buenos Aires 2018, Marko starts "Elvenjig & Elvenpath" by playing the double neck, but in the right moment, when there is time enough in the middle of the song, his guitar technician hands him his regular bass. In this song, The Islander, he only plays the guitar part of the double neck. He could have used a regular guitar, but the guitar part of the double neck has a nice acoustic reminding sound that fits the song. I saw some fan videos from a festival in Oulu Finland (7.7.2022) where Marko performed with his current band. The guitarist Tuomas Wäinölä had an acoustic guitar attached to a rack, so that he could go from an electric guitar to an acoustic one fast enough in the middle of the song. And the guitar was attached to the rack the whole time he was playing it. During one song Marko played the cello as well. Marko is a Black Sabbath fan. He's favorite BS song to perform seems to be "War Pigs". The lyrics are one reason for sure. He has covered it in Finnish too. Just before the Covid pandemic they played the song in Prague, I think. There is a good quality video of it. "All Hietala Power Trio" is a band with Marko, his guitarist brother Sakari a.k.a. Zachary, and Marko's son, Miro (20), the other one of Marko's twin sons, on drums. They play Black Sabbath covers. There are a couple of 40 minute live stream videos, from a couple of years ago. Marko and Zachary had a band called Tarot, I think they started in 1986. You would not recognize Marko from a 1986 video. The band ended when the drummer died. A good one from Tarot: "Tides" Undead Indeed '06 DVD. Edit: This is not the only double neck Marko has, he has another one. He plays it on the video "Isäni Ääni" (The Voice of My Father), a song from his solo album released a couple of years ago.

Lovely reaction! Music originally written by Marko. He decided it wasn't a good fit for his band Tarot and brought it to Nightwish. Tuomas added the lyrics and they created this gorgeous song. Floor and Marko's harmonies are so gorgeous no matter who has the lead. Floor was laughing at the end because Marko went higher in that final belt then normal and Floor had to adjust on the fly.

But if you like to take a little detour from Nightwish and want to see yet another side of these magnificent musicians I suggest Franz Schubert's Ave Maria sung by Marko and Floor during the Raskasta Joulua tour (Finnish for Heavy Christmas) even if it's not the right time of the year.

Marko's double neck is a custom Warwick bass/Framus guitar combo. Both brand names are owned by the same company. And ,yes Andrei, it is heavy. I've heard about 30 pounds ,which is about 13.6 kg.

Such a short video already, and still (well, almost) you are compelled to stop the video before its end. A flaw that lots of YT reactors have for some unknown reason. Just let Nightwish live videos run till the end, most of them have some sort of thank you towards the fans, or in this case Floor congratulating Marko with a big smile as he walks back.

Nightwish as you know are so excellent, I really think Marco leaving has left a big he, Floor does a fantastic job covering but when songs are played where Marco played a strong part Floor is covering both, they really need a, male vocalist with a gritty rock voice, Troy has a nice voice but you really need someone like Marco as well. I will be interested to see your reactions to the poet and the pendelum and the greatest show on Earth, the Tampere one. This is a nice mellow song, I really like your reactions.

Hold on! What happened to his spoken introduction? You are missing a key aspect that says much about his character and what makes him so cool. You'll need subtitles of course, although it doesn't have subtitles for this bit when he stops after the first verse and asks the crowd to join in with the chorus.
