Old-fashioned, prudish style of filming. This harkens back to when camera operators would always fully show female divers head to toe. But, the opposite for male competitors. No close-ups below the navel. Compare this video to two from today filmed the modern way. They cover Canadian diver Vincent Riendeau & an Italian champion, Stefano Belotti.

I guess he forgot to tie his speedo correctly and tightly before his dives, lucky that his speedo did not drops down completely.

I grew up near a community college that had a fantastic aquatics dept. The swimmers and divers would often work their skills late evenings and nites..I would sneak into the field house and assume my favorite stealth birds eye view location as they most always were totally nude!!! I did this for several seasons during my early teen years.
