Thankyou so much, sadly I bought the P1000 recently, after buying the wonderful B700 (a year ago). and wish I had just stuck to the B700 now. No real advantage with the P1000, having just 16megapixel sensor as opposed to the nikon B700 with 20 megapixels. (Why Nikon has to be so mean with the P1000 having only 16 megapixels is beyond me). Wish I could share my recent "moon surface photos" taken on a tripod with the B700 recently, they are awesome. Thank you again though for a great comparison, my Nikon P1000 arrived about 2 weeks ago, and to be honest I used it 2 or 3 times and lost interest. Long live the B700.

Just got my B700 out of storage & needed to find out if it would still meet my needs. After watching your very great video I'm glad I have the B700 & will use it until I can afford an upgrade to a Nikon DSLR.

I bought the B700 because it could out reach the P900 when recording at 4k. I bought the P1000 and its a whole lot better. Recording at 4k and crop to 1080p gives you 250x "optical" zoom. But on the picture side of the the P1000 vs the B700 I'm finding it lacks detail. Images look over compressed compared to the B700. Shrinking the images by half make them look a lot better. I mainly bought the P1000 for video and the reach so I think its still worth it. Its just hard to get used to the size difference. The B700 is easy to whip out and take a pic or video. The P1000 is a massive heavy beast by comparison.

What do you recommend for street videography or wildlife (better quality) (Travel vlogs) the B700 or P1000? Is the zoom and quality improvement in p1000 worth the money?

If you dont care about the reach the B700 is better because its smaller and lighter. Video quality is pretty good for both. Picture quality is good with both but the B700 has more MP and in my opinion better detail. The main question is 2x more zoom worth 2x the price for the P1000 for you? For me yes as I wanted more flexibility in the zoom plus the manual focus ring I like a lot. Unless they come out with a 50mp 100x+ zoom 8k60 camera I think I will be keeping the P1000 for a long while. I still would like to get a full frame camera though.

Even though the B700 has better megapixals at 20 over the p1000 with only 16 the p1000 seems to take a lot better pics. Glad I got the p1000. Ive own the camera for 2 days. Still getting use to it. Once I do Im sure I can take better pics than I did in the long outdated Coolpix P610

We purchased the B700 without watching any of these comparison videos. The 60fps footages require a lot of illumination in the B700 as per my latest testing. Never cared about 30 fps and 60 fps until i tested this out in one phone, when the level of smoothness suggested why it is gaining traction.

I would love to, but sadly I don't have P900 and P1000 anymore. My channel has very limited possibilities; if I was a big KZfaqr I could buy those cameras on my own and make tons of different comparisons - literally a lot, but it is what it is :(. Anyway stay tuned because there is some comparison with P1000 and ? left to publish. ;)

Thank you for the review. I wish you offered more insight about the abilities of these two cameras for taking pictures of planets. You offered one photo of the moon, and said that "the P1000 is superior for photographing objects at very long distances", but you said nothing specific about planets (and other space phenomena) as the ultimate distance objects. I assume P1000 is better, but I wish you would've highlighted this in your discussion considering the P1000 superzoom is what so many space photography enthusiasts are interested in.

That's a tough one. This kind of use is a niche, interesting one though, that's without any questions. Some telescope + DSLR would be more suitable for shooting planets from what I know though. As you mention - further = better, so logically speaking P1000 will perform better when shooting planets like jupiter and saturn. Both have comparable small sensors so no big difference otherwise. P1000's O.I.S may work better so that could be another difference. In terms of "space phenomena" you have to consider something with a bigger sensor.

I have the P900 and just bought the P1000. If you want a superzoom, the P1000 makes the P900 totally obsolete The added zoom factor is just part of it. There are actually 3 major improvements besides the zoom factor. 1. 4k video is night and day better than the old 1080 in the p900. 2. greatly boosted resolution in the electronic viewfinder. It is so much better you wont believe it till you see it in person. 3. manual focus ring is a game changer if you like control over your focus rather than trusting the auto feature. P1000 is awesome! Now if you don't need superzoom... go with a sony mirrorless. They are so compact and take great photos.

I own a P700. It’s a good camera that does many things well. As mentioned in the video, the EVF is low resolution and basically useless. The flip out screen is useful but would be easier to use if it had touch capability. Transferring files to a smart phone or tablet has been problematic. The Nikon SnapBridge app has suffered from connection difficulties for years. I use the camera to take photos of the moon.

Yes it is, there is nothing else that comes close to a 3000mm lens, period. Of course whether you need it or not is an individual thing but if it's going to be useful there is nothing else.

Yes it is I currently have the P900 and went to a place to see puffins on the cliffs I was far away from the cliffs and even 83X optical zoom and the digital zoom did not get me a good enough photo Had i been there and had the P1000 i would have got a great photo of a puffin

If they had built P1000 on B700 electronics it would be a cool thing but on big screen there is must be seen a poor quality of still images of a new model with old sensor so for quality result an old model is better preference! :)

B700 all day. I mainly use DSLR any ways but for vacations, practicality and something you just want to slip into your back pack last minute without take up too much room B700 is perfect. P1000 is just too damn big and way too expensive for what it is in comparison to B700

I was considering the p950 but then i thought hmm maybe the B700 is just the same with less but enough zoom range. Looking at the photo's though the p1000 seems way better than the B700. You say its not much different quality wise but to my eye the p1000 just looks more colourful and just better in general.

That was at 60x zoom though which is maxing out the B700 while for the p1000 it's only about half way. That's why it looks so much better. At lesser zooms it should look comparable.

I have a Canon Rebel T7i camera, I can not take nice pictures with her the photos of the phone is better, so I want to take distant photos and her lens is the kit, 18 x 55mm. I was researching value of lens 70 x 300mm with stabilizer and the price is high, I was told the Nikon Coolpix P1000 because I am not even an amateur is for my hobby wonder is worth staying with the Canon or exchange for a Nikon Coolpix P1000 does it take away what is your opinion and one more detail mine is professional or Nikon P1000? Thank you.

Quality will be better on the Canon. Obviously it has much bigger sensor. I would stick with the Canon or exchange it for some other APS-C camera like Sony a6000 or Nikon D3500/D3300/D3400/D5500 etc. You could also consider something with the 1 inch sensor for example Panasonic FZ1000.

if you click once in a while and you are not into photography career go for p1000 or B700 is even better deal for that price. with dslr and mirrorless you have to buy lots of lenses for different things to capture.these lenses are too pricey for a person not into photography. even if you buy a 70-300 mm now,believe me you will soon need little more zoom in few days and the desire to buy a new lens never ends. if you wanna stick to dslr and not buy many lenses go with tamron 18-400 ,so that changing lenses wont be an issue.

Due to crop-factor, that can't happen with current technology and a reasonably portable size. That is specifically why all superzoom cameras have tiny sensors; if they were bigger the zoom range would drop exponentially.

Nikon should update the Coolpix B700 to a B800 with features capable to rival Sony RX10 IV, Canon Powershot G3X, Lumix FZ1000 II / Leica V-Lux 5... At least 1" sensor, 20MP, 20/24 - 400/600 mm with constant Max F2.8, 4K with no crop, fully articulated TOUCH-screen, Viewfinder, popup flash, Dials : "Modes Dial, Exposure Compensation Dial, Droive Modes Dial, Multifunction/Command Dials, Lens barrel with Focus ring and/or aperture ring, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth... A real Bridge/Superzoom for Hybrid users (Stills+Videos)... Z6 body or D5600 like-body could be a great thing for a such bridge... Nikon should check all features offered by the other rivals (the 1" sensor group above) and release a great Bridge... A Bridge Camera is indeed a perfect option with DSLR-Like settings to people who want to jump slowly in photography. I encourage my friends to look at the Bridges on the market. My first camera was a bridge and moving to a DSLR was different but not really too challenging because of lessons really learned using a Bridge. I think Nikon should really bring a Bridge capable to rival other 1" sensor on the market (RX10, FZ1000-2, V-Lux5, G3X) ... A body like the Z6 could interesting ... But Nikon should not bring too much cameras to avoid the "DL Series" trouble... (Canon has already a lot of options in their Powershot series)... One good great bridge camera is enough... One great Coolpix for Hybrid users(Stills and Videos) ...

I don't understand why people repeatedly have to compare the P1000 to other cameras. The thing is it has the latest technology in some instances and nothing can get close to it in the zoom area. It would be nicer if it had a battery that lasted longer than 2 hours, but can overcome this by purchasing spares. Comments about its weight are irrelevant for if you have a regular DSLR with telephoto lens the DSLR weighs the same or is heavier. You should make it quite clear that every camera has different uses and explain in better terms what P1000 can be used for and what you should look out for. I own one pretty well since it was released and can say it meets my requirements and I test it all the time when I go hiking from macro, landscape and bird photography. It saves room in my bag as I do not have to carry as much kit. And by the way I have plenty of camera equipment in my kit, but this one is perfect for hiking because of the range it covers. So why don't you compare it next time to a Nikon D850 with a 200-500mm lens, or even better a Nikon D1 with a 600mm prime lens. Maybe then you will realise just how ridiculous these comparisons are, like you and many others like you create vlogs over. Just look at each camera individually and give a review that way. I am so fed up with these type of vlogs.

I don't see anything wrong - it's a comparison between superzoom and superzoom. Is it bad that people want to know which camera suits their needs best and how much zoom they really want? It depends what you shoot, but often zoom difference between those two is more spectacular on paper than in real life. In the end of the video I clearly said both are for different target group. I am glad that you are happy with your P1000, but don't forget it's only a bridge camera with tiny 1/2.3 sensor; offering pretty much same photo and video quality as Coolpix B700. I appreciate constructive criticism though. Best regards! 📸By the way B700 vs D850 would be interesting for me. Seriously. I just like comparisons.

everyone have their views on different camera. also remember everybody may not be an expert with lots of camera knowledge.it may look stupid to you as you already own a p1000. people like me might be thinking twice to spend thrice the money for minimal or useless upgrades. great video for beginners.good job by the uploader.

That's rubbish, it's a unique camera for specialist purposes, ie wildlife or astro photography, if you don't photograph either of those things there's no point buying the P1000, if you do it's a no brainer and it's not that big considering it has a 3000mm lens, what size and price would it be in any other format? A dam site bigger and far more expensive.
