I’ve been using this camera for years! So glad to watch someone else’s thoughts on it. I need to replace the light seals but I love mine.

slight correction/adendum: the original F-mount lenses are referred to as "pre-ai". they have the metal prong on the aperture ring (for coupling with the metering prisms on F and F2 cameras) but they don't have the smaller second ring of f-stop numbers close to the mount. Ai lenses have the metal prong and two rows of f-stop numbers, and Ai-S lenses don't have the metal prong. the pre-ai lenses can be used on the FE (and FM), but not on the later FE2 or FM2, and not with automatic metering; you must either meter at full aperture or manually stop-down to meter at anything less than full aperture. nice video & best of luck with the channel; cheers, brother!

Many thanks for the advice re lens mount, I had got a bit confused over the different variation of f mount. Hope you enjoyed the video, working on a few more.

Actually, the vast majority of Ai-S updated lenses from their introduction in the early 1980’s were manufactured with the aperture index coupler (metal prong or “bunny ears” if your quaintly English) so they could still be used with earlier Nikon bodies. Later as the autofocus era started, certain inexpensive mainstream manual focus Nikkor’s e.g. 50mm f1.8, 35-70mm f3.5~4.5 etc. had the coupler removed and the build was generally reduced to the Nikon series E grade.

hi, i found my dad's old nikon vintage camera from the 80s and it works. Where can I look into lens to buy for the camera?

Lots orc Nikon f lenses about, they can be pricey, if you look around some of the mid zooms can be good value. Ebay can be a starting point. Thanks for watching.

The FE can take all Nikon lenses back to 1959, the FE2 can't. My favourite Nikon film camera. Second favourite is a Nikkormat FT2
