Z8 is a fantastic camera just got it and use it along with my R3, I always use overflow anyways.

I can't wait until Nikon catches up with the auto focus, until then Ill continue to use my R3 as well :) I still kept some good nikon glass for the future for when their autofocus can keep up

@@DAVE_WHITETry Nikon's autofocus in Wide area or Custom C1/C2 with Eye-AF. Its feels much better than Sony atleast the A7iv & A7Riv. For Sony, the focus point tends to be on the subject's eyes in the viewfinder or screen but it's actually doesn't land where it actually shows specially for the A7R4 & A7R5 in even in normal portrait scenarios for wildlife.

@@HotGates Shot Nikon from D50 release date until canon r7 release tried the r7 and was blown away with a different systems auto focus

Most will shoot Lossless RAW or RAW HE* in CF card and 4k120 video to V90 card. In case of lossless raw in real world scenarios, we don't hit that buffer of 16fps as we mostly shoot in short bursts and don't keep holding the shutter continuously. If you just lift the finger up for 1 sec, the buffer clears & you are back at 20fps Lossless RAW.

Yes I feather the shutter naturally due to using the R7 a lot. But those times we have a swan taking off, or a bull moose rut fight, or a bear fishing etc. we need that longer burst time which is nice to have. I had a eagle fly in and grab some Canada geese chicks and without the super long burst ability I would have missed a lot of the action in the encounter. With the R7 I would have gotten maybe 1/3 or the shots I was able to get with the Z8.

@@WILDALASKA Yes thats what I am saying the Z8's buffer is enough that you got your shot. The Nikon D850 was also good enough to capture some awesome images of the late Tano-Bora (five brother cheetah coalition of Maasai Mara) & a hartebeest action so the Z8 should be much better. I haven't tested the Z8 in proper real world scenarios yet like in hot humid dusty tiger reserves of India with sometimes unexpected rainfall. My previous Camera Sony A7iv & 200-600mm did relatively well with a Tiger & wild boar kill, i am hoping the Nikon Z8 would be much better along with the 400mm f4.5 specially because of it's really light weight, much easier to handhold at lower angles.

Type A is about half the speed of the Type B.

Not sure but for wildlife I wouldn't use anything except roll over or single card and use a CFexpress

Wow, it's worse than I expected. Not the end of the world for weddings, but no way it would work for dog agility and other fast action. I already knew I was going to get the Z9 as a primary, but this gave me the end of all doubts. I just can't work without dual cards in backup config.

You are doing it all wrong. JPEG fine* is just as big as raw he+. Just do raw primary and jpeg basic+ to SD and SD is not a bottleneck any more.

Who's spraying and praying lol. I mean you can. The main reason you want the fast longer burst is for fast erratic birds in flight or those long take offs, bear fights, etc.
