I am back with another blind reaction! Here is another singer that I didn't know well at all but who knocked my socks off completely, delivering extremely powerful vocals with loads of emotion. ❤️

Really awesome technical breakdown... I know very little about the skills and physical actions behind vocalists so this is so interesting to learn. Also Finnish is such a cool language to hear it all in that it makes me want to learn that too, haha

Thank you, Anna, for these tears that are now streaming down my cheeks. Even though I've heard this song before, it was your reaction to this feeling (and what I'm going through lately) that really helped me... And therefore I'm a little relieved now. So thanks, God bless you!😇💜

Just for the background; the Song was originally written for a girl. But since he never really wrote songs for Slipknot his collegues Paul Gray and Joey Jordison pushed him into releasing it and even helped him, because they loved it. Corey was scared that it was too „soft“ back then. When Paul died he dedicated it to him and since then really fights to sing along. He even started crying and singing along many times. After Joey died too this year, things will get even more emotional, if that is even possible.

I just found you through the algorithm but you seem like a beautiful human being that might be the best "vocal coach" I've seen on KZfaq when it comes to explaining things. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the two breakdowns that I watched. This song is so emotional and man does Corey deliver. First reaction channel I've seen where the person speaks their native language but have perfect subs to match. It makes it all so genuine too, because you can express yourself, it just works. Your channel will get big, new sub from me for sure.

Stone Sour - Bother (his band) is another great display of his vocals.

@@annavaskelainen Anna, I was driving in the car today thinking about snuff and how I felt. Then I remembered another song that gave me the same emotional punch. I dont know if you have ever heard Johnny Cash's cover of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt". Its similar to Snuff emotionally. Johnny was dying and he knew it. The song is filled with regret for all the bad things he did, sorrow, loneliness, and loss. I freely admit I cried when I heard it and old men are not supposed to cry. You might consider doing a reaction to it. But be prepared and have some tissues nearby.

Such Honesty in your reactions with excellent discussion about the methods used by the artists. Long ago on one of my training trips to Finland I was able to attend a concert by Poets of the Fall and was blown away by the talent. We are quite heavy in Talent in the USA so it is always refreshing to have bands like Nightwish, Opeth, Jinjer, and so many other remind us that music has no limits.

Thank you for this, I definitely wouldn’t have listened to this song if you hadn’t reacted to it. I have heard of Corey Taylor because of his vocal range but am not a fan of the kind of music his bands are known for. This was a great song to react to, not only because of his excellent delivery of the vocals but because it’s an interesting lyric as well. The line “I still press your letters to my lips” really got to you and i’m surprised you held it together. But you did a great job of getting your focus back, even if it took a couple of tries. I am of course totally not addicted to watching you emote like that, nope, not me. I’m going to study his use of rasp and distortion because it may prove useful for me when I’m performing my poems. Thanks again. Catch you next week!

It doesn't need big arrangement and instrumentation to shake my whole being. I really had to fight against the feels when doing this, as you could see thehe. Glad to know I could provide at least some informative content though! 😂 For using rasp/growl, you'd probably like to see my Jessie J reaction! xx

@@annavaskelainen OK, thanks! I will watch that. I’m not a fan of her and don’t watch reactions to her, but I really want to learn more about using those techniques. I did do some more research on this song and apparently it was always a very emotional song for Corey but then one of his band mates died and now he does the song as a tribute. So the thing with his eyes that you caught when he sang the word “angels” was him paying tribute to his boy. I think I will add this song to a playlist, so thanks again.

Music is the only language spoken worldwide brother. Many of us aren't drawn to new/different/unfamiliar genres, and that's just human. But I invite you to take the time to read the lyrics of bands like Slipknot, Jinjer, System of a Down, etc. BEFORE listening to the song. You'll see the true poetry, messages, statements, and emotions behind them without your reaction being clouded by sounds that you may find uncomfortable or distracting. It'll blow your mind brother. Much love.

Even though the video doesn't carry the emotion of this live version, you should check it out. It's gained new meaning with Paul's passing, but the song was always emotional from the beginning. And the video is so powerful. To compliment it all, today we just heard about the passing of Joey Jordison, Slipknot's founder and previous drummer. So this will for sure ignite his future performance, he is an emotional and open guy, to long hidden behind a mask. As usual, amazing reaction Anna. Thank you for reacting to Corey, he is a power house with the ability to touch us in the feelings.

Loooved this reaction, this one still hits hard after all these years. You'd absolutely enjoy the live 'from the room below' performance of Blood Sport by Sleep Token! It's just the bands' vocalist with a piano and he also has an incredible way of just pouring emotion through his voice much like you mentioned with Corey. Fair warning though, you'll absolutely cry (I did my first time hearing it), it's very cathartic, just thought you should know incase it's not something you like doing on camera if you can help it. Wonderful song you should hear either way though. As far as Slipknot's other stuff Vermillion Pt. 2 is another phenomenal acoustic ballad like this one, but hits harder after hearing the first part which I'm sure you'll also enjoy. Really glad I found your channel and sooo appreciate the captions, new sub well earned, can't wait to see what you react to in the future!

First of all, i wanna thank you for this. Whether you sing, put out a reaction or do anything else, it will always be hard to open up and show emotions like you have done in this video, whether it is in front of an audience or published on a platform everyone can see it. Sharing such things with people ist like sharing a treasure and i love the warm reactions your community gave back on you. :) Loved your raw feelings and also the time you take on your videos for the technical parts. Everytime someone like you, someone that seems to understand what music ist about, how it is build up and all of that, giving Corey such respect as a musician, I am very happy. This awesome man was broken by life more than one ore two...even more than 100 times, but he stays there as the best version of himself there ever was as an example that it is not important how deep you fall if you keep climbing up higher. I would recommend you "Corey Taylor - Home / Zzyzx Rd. [LIVE AT THE FORUM]" because i think, this is the first time I look at Corey and can see him as a man that is really clean with himself. and by his lifestory, that would be an epic goal if he really reached that. :) And just because I can´t leave without saying it: You are such a beautiful women that seems to be even prettier at the inside. Great reaction! It's strange to me to hear reactions to this song coming from across the pond! I would assume you speak pretty good English to understand the lyrics of the song. This was the first time I listened to fluent Finnish, it makes a little more sense now lol. It's easier to listen to than read, that's for sure!

Wow, the feels. Didn't expect that, or so many interesting vocal choices! Do you think most are planned or would this be something intuitive?
@annavaskelainen
@annavaskelainen 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the feels. 😭 I think he has constructed this first with raw emotion and then polishing his performance with more thought and "left brain" so to say.
@garyrobb1020
@garyrobb1020 2 жыл бұрын
Some of it is neither. As Corey says at the beginning, this is a difficult song for him to get thru. There are at least two point in this performance where the emotion almost overwhelms him and you can see/hear him fighting back sobs. There are videos of other performances where the emotion simply becomes too much and he isn't able to continue. So... some of the vocal choices aren't really "choices". They are real, raw emotion taking over and effecting his performance. The song was originally written about his first wife. His best friend Paul Gray (who was the bass player for Slipknot) helped him write the song and it became Paul's favorite Slipknot song. Paul later died from an overdose. So not only does the song dredge up painful memories, it also makes Corey think of his lost best friend. Hence why it is such a difficult and emotional song for him.
