@@knockingvalves2539 no I just happen to know that the Maserati he’s on about wasn’t around or even conceived at the time these maserati were built. Yes it is an utterly glorious noise from that V8. But as I said the engines in these are a V6.

@@mickdick1138 Why ? Ferrari uses the stupid flatplane crankshaft, they sound like glorified inline-4s Maserati figured out how brilliant it would be if they used a crossplane crank like it's meant to with a 1-8-6-2-7-3-4-5 firing order figured out by god himself

@@behroozsalehi8571 A friend of mine works in maserati, the latest engine they put in the mc20, the nettuno, a car, wich i saw whit the camo skin on 2 years before it went out, it was all done by maserati, from 0. Inside the gas chamber, the pistons have a strange "helix" on them, wich helps whit the combustion, than they have new and not common market spark plugs, and also the injector. A new engine from scratch. I mean, u guys can search online, but no one is mlre trushworthy than the italian who asked thill despair his friend to tell everythimg about the engine. 😂😂😂

@@Giuseppe-ew8rx Maserati is such an underrated car maker, with a good investor support it could get past its quality issues and put all the other flamboyant and classy brands to shame but in this economy and with all the cowardly bean counter financiers it's impossible

Imo as an American it doesn't get better than a V8 with maybe a borla, but from factory the Maserati is hands down music. Of course v6,8,10,12s are all brilliant sounding. They all have lovely sounds.. I remember hearing a G35 in 04 and I had to have it. My double midnight blue g35 was the tits

Right mate, you have missed 2 of them, both made by James May. 1st Maserati Bora and 2nd pre-facelift Maserati Quattroporte which he was driven in Sicily.

They have always made reliable engines but in the 70s-80s their electrics were iffy, in the 90s they were decently reliable but when the 2000s rolled around they ruined it again with the F1 transmissions. They offered a manual for the GT but hardly anyone bought it. Their cars these days are actually more reliable than most luxury cars, especially the German ones.

A colleague of mine bought an 8 year old Quattroporte (probably for about 30 bucks or so) and the only thing that he could say that he thought may stop anyone laughing at it was "It has a Ferrari engine". If you have to justify your purchase by telling others it has a motor from another brand, you know it's a pile of junk!!

Why didn`t someone tell Jaguar when they brought out in 1998 a V8 XJR that it should sound like a V8, Maserati knew all the time, the Jaguar sounds like a Ford Pinto! At full throttle, all you can hear is a Supercharger! Having said that it is a great car.

Owned a 430se 28 years, from new, never has let me down. Been all over France in it. Got a Levante as well, best car I have ever owned. Clarkson should stick to farming.
