Nothing against age gap relationships in most cases, but that woman being 45 and dating a 16 yo and then marrying him is disgusting and shows just how disturbed she is. Even if he kisses you or whatever, you are supposed to be the ‘adult’ and say no and walk away. I’m 42 and the thought of dating a teenager is quite disturbing to be honest.

Agreed. It is abuse, actually. I don't care what some random legislators who probably only wanted to get into kiddies' knickers, say, is the age of consent. A 16 year old is a child. Even the previous age of consent at 18 was dicey. I remember what I was like even in my early 20s, so naive and impressionable. Thank goodness I had a stable, secure childhood in a protective family. I wasn't exposed to or vulnerable to seeking love in inappropriate places.

Yeah I agree I feel bad just dating a 19 year old cause hes still teens too but I will never go 17 and under that's a rap case there. I would of had to say no to that for sure. 16 is way to young. That's even to young if you were 18 and trying to date a 16 or 15 year old.

I was married to one man who died at 49. We had been married 21 years. I felt lost especially going out to eat, etc. I then noticed all the couples, not to mention, the women who were “friends,” change and stopped seeing me. They actually had jealousy if one husband out of kindness mowed my lawn just to help a grieving widow out. He never asked me, he just did it. I cried as you said. The only thing that restored me was my relationship with God and my job as a nurse. It turned out the unit I would at times be pulled to, the nurses there wanted me to be the nurse of a woman who just had shock treatments from losing her spouse. I didn’t know that someone told her about me and as I proceeded with taking her vitals, she asked so sadly, how does one heal? I asked her if I could sit on a portion of her bed & she nodded. My message as I held her hand was that it’s never easy but with the help of Jesus Christ, I am able to go day by day. She asked me for prayer and prayer I did. There was a sweet presence she and I felt. She said, I know now I will be alright. I knew she would as well. I was a widow for 3 years and remarried a Christian man, who loved God. He didn’t take the space away for my previous loss but added everything I needed. I didn’t think I could love again, but God.

The only problem is when age takes over. My husband is 10 years older than me. I got married the 2nd time 2 years after my spouse died at 55. I married a 65 year old vibrant man. He is now 85 and has dementia. I am now his caregiver for the past 2 years. He has no memory of anything in the past or day before. He says I am the one who tells him what to do. It is like taking care of a toddler but I made my vows at marriage and I care deeply for him. But people here need to think about the near future. Can they take care of the aged spouse? It is a very hard job, mentally and physically.

My husband is 22 years older than me. It was love at first sight. We became engaged within a 5 week span, and married after spending just 17 days in each others company, 4 months after that. (he lived in New Zealand, I was in England, he was visiting his family after the death of his first wife from cancer and had to go home for work, before returning to marry me!) We now live in New Zealand and have been married for 36 years. So it can work.

@@AT-eu4zu My husband is my life. I nursed him through cancer 12 years ago - he wasn't meant to survive more than 5 years, but he is here and now considered cancer free. You have to weather the storms as well as enjoying the sunshine. xx

@@mythoughts6922 She probably can't grow the eyebrows back. She lived her youth during an era where everyone plucked their brows to pencil-thin lines and many weren't able to regrow their brows later in life. My aunt is the same way - pencil brows forever.

I think Joan is stuck a decades or two back on what was seen as attractive, but I personally think her skin looks older than her years and I wonder if the tanning has helped with that. Also her hair looks very thin, and again I wonder if years of bleaching hasnt helped that either. If only she learnt less is more!

Joan take some advise. Your eyeliner is too harsh Tanning booths are illegal in Australia, they are cancerous. Tanning makes your skin look old. Your hair is overbleached and it looks brittle. Go to a salon get your hair well cut, soften your eye make up and dont tan. Use a artificial tanning lotion, its much safer.

We don't choose love. Love chooses us. My mother never married after Dad died. A young man in our neighborhood started seeing my mother. The age gap was 40+ years. My siblings and I had a crazy fit. My brothers hurt him. Still they would see each other. We thought it was him pursuing her but it was the other way around. After seeing how happy our mother was, we gave in. Love conquers all. He was good to her. He gave her companionship. Helped her around the house. They were together until she passed away but never married. ❤

I’m all for it people doing whatever the heck they want to do but if that was my kid at with a grown woman at 16 I can guarantee she wouldn’t want to meet me. I know in her eyes she said well if the roles were reversed, people wouldn’t look down at me than. Well atleast for me id still feel the same. I think she should’ve at least let him grow up first. Just because you can have sex with somebody when they’re 16 and you’re an adult doesn’t me you do it.

After my divorce younger men pursued me more than men my age and asked me out on dates. It boosted my self esteem for sure when post divorce most women are not in a great state of mind. It was fun and I am still friends with most of them. I enjoy older men due to the maturity of conversation etc but if they are young at heart only which is what these older men seem to be with the younger women. Ultimately do what makes you happy and dont care what everyone thinks.

The french president and his wife are 20 years apart , she was his teacher though and its the only thing made me go eek . I know it's politically incorrect to say so, but I cringe at age gaps this large. Why would anyone want to date someone who has so much less life experience than you? What about meeting of the minds? equal maturity level? Male or female, I don't care...It's disturbing to me. I couldn't imagine dating someone of my daughters age; it's gross.

I was sure I would find something wrong with these couples, but I can't. They do seem to be genuinely in love. The only thing I can fault is, sometimes love is not a good enough reason to pursue a relationship, but on the other hand there's no guarantee any relationship will last.

I honestly have no issues with age gaps and they can be lovely and adorable. When both parties are sincere adults. Of course you can tell when somebody’s being used or it’s it’s not genuine but when it is, both people can be really happy.

@@PHlophe But it's the U.K. What law was broken? Age of consent is 16 there. So there's nothing that could have been done, legally speaking. But they were socially ostracized and the guy said all his teenaged friends deserted him. In the past, in the U.K., it was extremely common for 16yr olds to finish school and then go into fulltime employment, move out on their own, maybe even get married. In the past, like the 60s, 70s, 80s, 16 yr olds were seen as pretty much adults - young adults at the start of their adult working lives, but still adults. Not children.

I have naturally large boobs. I so wish I didn't. They are heavy and clothes don't fit me properly. I don't base love on age, but rather let feelings flow freely. I have had relationships with both older and younger women and am grateful for each of those relationships. Furthermore, I am happily taken and yet at the beginning of our relationship as a man, I was the one who repeatedly asked if she was really sure about herself and if it wasn't a problem for her. The biggest age difference used to be 24 years, now there are 14 years between us. Live and let live, and I only have a problem with it if one of them is not yet of age and therefore an adult.
