It's a showdown featuring the Harbaugh 49ers, Frazier Vikings, and Replacement Refs! Colin Kaepernick does not play in this game, but if I include him here in the description maybe it'll improve my SEO!

I have a friend who was working in a sporting goods store in the Twin Cities when Ponder was the Vikings QB. He saw Christian meet with a man and two young boys who had been visibly upset. Apparently their mother had just passed away. The father was trying to cheer them up but didn’t have enough money to buy what they wanted. Christian got to the register before them and quietly told the cashier that whatever they wanted, they could put on his card, he just didn’t want to make a big scene out of it. He may not have had what it took to be a long term NFL starter, but Christian Ponder was always pure class as a human being as far as I’m concerned.

Part of me still wonders. He was throwing to Devin Aromoshodu, Michael Jenkins and Jerome Simpson, and with a pretty average o-line at that. Yes, he had AP, but boy, he had no help at WR.

The 2012 Vikings won 10 games and made the postseason despite having Christian Ponder as their quarterback and playing 4 of the other 5 NFC playoff teams AND the 12-4 Texans and 11-5 Colts. They also played the 10-6 Bears who missed the playoffs despite having a good record. Obviously they faced the Packers and Bears twice a piece. They lost in the wildcard round to the hated Packers and it wasn’t an all-time great Vikings team but they battled through a tough schedule and overcame an awful quarterback to win 10 games and at least give their fans a lot to be proud of. Plus AP came within 8 yards of tying the single season rushing record and put up a remarkable 2,097 yards on the ground, including just about 1,300 of them and 8 touchdowns in the second half of the season. Peterson also saved his best for the teams Vikings fans hate the most. In 2 games against each division opponent he ran for 262 yards against the Bears, 273 vs the Lions, and 409 (!) against the Packers.

Because they wouldn't let ponder be ponder, he was real good at playing his own game, not so good at playing someone elses, i wouldnt ask AP to play like tom brady, same goes for ponder. They drafted him for his ability to make something out of nothing n then made him play backup to Peterson basically, the offense was designed around ap, which works when healthy, but when hes down what can u do? Cant replace him, cant just call another ap off the bench, so now u have less than a week to redesign ur offense, n on top of it u have an improv mastermind that can pull magic out his ass but u want him to play out ur thrown together offensive plan the way u poorly designed it, he messed up and the fans burnt him to the ground. They would have been much better off just giving ponder the ball before the game like "go do stuff" then make him try to fit a bad offense.

SF defense must’ve been awful because I don’t ever remember Ponder having a good game. I remember a few flashy plays but nothing consistently solid. Holy cow did he throw some weak balls! Lol. I still don’t get how the organization gave him 3 seasons - 3 bad seasons then Keenum gets you to within 1 win of a SB and he gets kicked to the curb! Sometimes chemistry outweighs a stat sheet. “I’m not looking for the best players. I’m looking for the RIGHT players.” -Herb Brooks, 1980 Olympic Gold medal hockey coach (Miracle on Ice) Keenum was RIGHT for this team! Not anymore, but he sure was at the time!
