Exactly! Although Ninja Gaiden I and II has better gameplay, Ninja Gaiden III actually has better storytelling. We see more of Ryu Hayabusa. He's not just some merciless killing machine. Underneath that badass ninja outfit is still a human being. We see what being a Dragon Ninja does to this man's consciousness after years of slaughtering numerous beings. He would have just been another one-dimensional character if it wasn't for this game. This goes for the same as Kratos in the God of War series. Thank God of War 4 for giving us more of Kratos' personality.

Where do I begin ? The series was REBOOTED in ninja gaiden black, so ryu is no longer married. A good proof of such is the fact that joe (ryu's father) is alive in this game (remember he died on the first nes game). Really ? Complaining about his hair ? Seriously ? «all soft and good with children» Would you prefer him as a heartless killer ? Nothing wrong with giving a bit more emotion to the character. And no, they did not destroy the franchise. It's still going.

***** wasn't black before NG2 came out? and Sonia was meant to be a reincarnation of Irene so i assumed he got married to her again- though even if he is an unmarried bachelor in this here game his behaviour is still too out of character and very un-Ryu-esque. very serious indeed. another minor detail which i don't like ;) compared to how he is in this game then yes, i would prefer him a heartless killer. Ryu is a very deep, emotional, and caring character even before this game. he was just less talkative and wasn't as soppy and forthright about it- which suited him more. should they have wanted a lad who adored children and got giddy at the thought of being a father etc it wouldnt have been difficult to give him a different name and make him a whole new character. the franchise may still be going but it is destroyed nonetheless.

Ninjas like Ryu that act like humans live longer n are legends.. Why do you think kenshin died? bubbamax1990 First of all, love how you use fudge. secondly, just because he's being kind to a little girl and talking to another woman doesn't mean he's cheating. Third, when did he get married and have an official relationship with her? Forth, he's more human, relatable, believable, and fleshed out in this game despite the horrible story. Fifth, he's damn hot as he is and I love how he looks in this game; never liked the long pony tail....doesn't fit. Sixth, this game shows two important sides of him we never really got to see in the other games. His kind, caring, calm, patient, reserved, and gentle nature with his friends and village. As well as his more deadly, cold, emotionless, merciless, and unforgiving killer towards his enemies. Seven, he never boasts about his powers, strengths, and hasn't shown superiority toward anyway and is a very respectable man, so I believe he is still honorable, even in this game.

Thankyou, lol! xD I understand where your coming from, however three years on and i find myself still feeling the same way about this reboot xD I always really liked Ryu Hayabusa's character for the unconventional nature that it was. he was always very kind and caring- keeping a constant eye out for his fellow ninja's, following through with promises to bezzie mates no matter how difficult, so on and so forth, but all while remaining quiet and humble. At times i even felt very sorry for him in the old version of his personality- because it would sometimes appear that he had been deeply upset about something, yet because of the kind of person he was he would never allow himself to grieve or indulge in those kind of emotions- which i somehow found more impactful. So this version of his personality feels alien to me and not very Hayabusa-like. TBH Ryu's relationship even with Sonia threw me off a little, and i was revolted when i found out that they were a legit item, but i'm sure it was an official thing (not sure where i read it exactly as it was a long time ago, but i'm sure it was legit). Also it cracked me up how you find him hot in this game because i couldn't believe my forelock when I first saw his new look! He looked so beefy and disturbing to me xD it's hilarious how different people view stuff, ey?
