This was one of my favorite games when I was growing up in the 80's. I was 12 and could pop it in and run the entire game through in 30 minutes. It took me so long to get smooth runs that felt easy to do.

Wow, I remember leaving my NES on for a week to beat this game and playing for a few hours a day. It's incredible to see it beaten that fast all without any special weapons too.

I like speedruns where people don't massively abuse glitches (like duke nukem 3D.. omg), this is fun to watch :)

This guy's resemblance to Benjamin Burnley of Breaking Benjamin is uncanny. And his Ninja Gaiden II skills are rad. Even with the smaller sword hitbox and the punishing health allowances allowed by the route, he makes it look like, "Pffft. Coulda done the TAS strats."

Excellent run. 13 minutes 04 seconds with your metaphorical hand tied behind your back ... just amazing.

I've been playing this game all my life, but never tried a Sword-only run. This was an amazing run.

NG2 was the only one in the trilogy that I beat on console. I got really close to beating NG1 but died at the boss and quit out of frustration until I beat it on emulator YEARS later... This, Mega Man, and Contra are arguably the best series of games on the NES period. This was an awesome run, duckfist!

NG on the NES is definitely a top 5 trilogy for me ever since i first played it back in 1990. loved the run, thanks!

Always enjoy your videos! These are games of my childhood. They still work on my original system with my original cartridge, but these days I play emulator. Even with state save abuse some of these games are very hard to beat. Ninja Gaiden 2 is one such game. I did beat it on the real system and cartridge back in 2002. Took almost a week pausing on and off (system stayed on, amazingly) but did it. I just finished Ninja Gaiden 2 on emulator using state save abuse prolifically and don't know how I ever beat it on the actual cartridge!! Anyway, after revisiting an old NES or SNES title on emulator I sometimes do visit here, and I do very much enjoy your speedruns of such games. Not only is it in admiration, but it is an education to watch your very cool videos. Plus commentary on glitches/hit boxes is always enjoyed. I like every bit of your treatise on these games. Incredible the technology we have that mediates your experience of such game to mine!

I have beaten this game, and I think it is a little easier than the first one. I just got owned on the first one a short while ago. I was at the boss in 6-3, and had to start at 6-1. I said screw it for another time. I have yet to beat the the first Ninja Gaiden.

Walkthrough is nice, but as for me I liked walkthrough of NG1 with that on the left side. In this walkthrough I would love to see using abilities but it is speed walkthrough, how can I judge him?

Fantastic run. The audience needs to run better timing on their applause, and keep the claps to be short and sweet. Especially when the runner is about to call time, he had to basically yell over the clapping.
