Keith Eccles is an award-winning professional videographer based in the UK, having worked with many renowned brands across a variety of projects including fashion, corporate and weddings. Having previously worked with the Atomos Ninja V, Keith was keen to incorporate the new Ninja into his workflow.
One of the most striking differences between the Ninja and its predecessor is the new look and feel of the monitor’s touchscreen, brought about by the AtomOS 11 operating system. Keith agrees, and adds: “The design is faster, fresher and cleaner”. Not only is the touchscreen more responsive, but the icons on screen have been enhanced for ease of use.
As a videographer regularly on the move, Keith recognises the importance of having travel-friendly equipment to lessen the burden of long journeys and shooting days. The Ninja is compact, portable and can fit in a bag with other accessories easily. “It is fantastic for any videographer around the world,” he said.
The Ninja boasts a range of state-of-the-art tools including remote timelapse mode and colourised exposure with the industry recognised EL Zone and ARRI false colour tools. Keith explains: “It colourises exposure in stops, so what you see on the monitor is a true reflection of what you are recording.”
Keith is also able to take advantage of the new Record Assist feature, which enables him to set a time for his recording to start; “It’s ideal for pre-arranged events, especially when you need to be somewhere else.”
With its’ vibrant 1000 nits HDR display, Keith can use the Ninja to easily see his footage on screen in bright sunlight which is paramount for his outdoor-based action shots. He concludes: “The Ninja is ideal for shooting in all environments. This monitor can really do it all; the best just got better.”

@@gsanchez922 I see the logic and I'm fine with paying for them providing a service. I work in the audiovisual industry so I value other's people work. I already paid for a couple of codecs upgrades on my ninja v let alone I bought some of their hardware like the HDMI to sdi adapter. So I would rather to pay let's say 200 bucks for an upgrade on the software to have to pay $600 or $700 for new hardware and move onto other device

I don't want to rag on creative peeps' efforts, but this grading does not look good. The sickly yellow tone and crushed highlights do not lend credibility to the message. Beyond that, there are some decent UI enhancements here, specifically the exposure-scale/legend on the side of the false-color screen. False color has been useless because the colors haven't had any specified meaning. The time-lapse and scheduled recording are nice. It would've been nice to see some drop-down lists for things like codec options; repeatedly tapping on a text label and getting no indication of how many choices there are in the list, or where you are in the list, is bad UI and a PITA. In the end, though, I don't see why anyone bothers with a 5" monitor. The Shogun Connect makes a lot more sense, since its 7-inch screen might actually be enough to focus with and provides a big step up from cameras' included screens.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your detailed insights. Your feedback is immensely valuable in our ongoing efforts to improve our products. We're pleased to hear that you found some of the UI enhancements beneficial, especially the exposure-scale/legend on the side of the false-color screen. Your point about false color is well-taken, and we are actively working on a solution to address this concern. In addition, we're excited to share that we've recently introduced the EL Zone False Colors Chart, which provides a standardized reference for accurate color representation. We believe this will greatly enhance the credibility of the grading process. We appreciate your candidness regarding the user interface, and we acknowledge the importance of user-friendly navigation. Your feedback will certainly guide our future developments in this area. Regarding monitor size preferences, we understand that individual needs vary. The Shogun Connect with its 7-inch screen is indeed a compelling option for those seeking a larger display for precise focus and improved visibility. Once again, thank you for your thoughtful input. We are committed to delivering products that meet and exceed your expectations. Should you have any further thoughts or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out . ATOMOS
