i think that honestly improves the tone and clarity so much, great video. lovely bass as well.

Well, it's more to my preference for roots stuff, but I also think it would help in a boomy room.

Hey Ed, good to see you're well. That's a nice mute, doesn't kill the sound of the upright.

Great video Ed! I'm really enjoying my NinoMute. You're right. It's so much better than foam or anything else I've ever tried.

I have one, yes, it's very cool, it really helps me sound and groove better, for all the reasons Ed mentioned. I do the roots stuff out on gigs, nothing more.

I heard yours... it really makes those Gallis thump!

Aha! Gonna try this with latin jazz.

When I can got to check this out on my EUB could be great.

This is a great solution for folks who don't want to raise their strings to get more thump or to make and eub sound more authentic.

It's always nice to see your videos. Thanks for you books too. Is your bass a cristopher 200?
@BassWhispererTV4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s the 203? The Academy model. Not expensive!

Great tone Ed. Guess you're not missing the Juzek. Very cool mute. Gives a little bit of the gut string thing.
@BassWhispererTV4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that Juzek was problematic for me.... 20 years of hating the way it sounded.... I like this plywood way better believe it or not!
@dbassman274 жыл бұрын
@@BassWhispererTV It sounds great! I have a plywood (old Kay) and a carved bass. The plywood is much less of a hassle. Cheers Ed. Love your posts!

Ed, this is a great video and addresses something I'm wrestling with. Bought a hybrid carved top and sides. An awesome sounding bass, but so much gorgeous melodic articulation, it lacks the front end punch, which is important for me as I play mostly only gypsy jazz. The forward punch is a big deal. I just bought the Ninomute based on this video, until it arrives I do have one question for you. Why not put on a set of really good guts to get that gut-like sound?
@BassWhispererTV2 жыл бұрын
How's it working for you? I like it! Great with Spiros.

@angelacevedo21122 жыл бұрын
would this be good for the baby bass? even though the sustain is quite short on the BB already maybe it could tame some of the ping of the higher notes in the register.
@michaelmalouf23564 жыл бұрын
I daresay it would help with feedback in some situations.....anyone?
@KingPorter4 жыл бұрын
Hey can you do a quick video about the action on your upright bass??
@BassWhispererTV4 жыл бұрын
Action? It’s not exceptional... not too high, not too low. The key is having the fingerboard well dressed. This one was.
@KingPorter4 жыл бұрын
@@BassWhispererTV thanks. I hope you'll be do videos more often. I always enjoyed your content.
@jazzman19543 жыл бұрын
Funny. Some guys looking for endless sustain. Others trying to kill it. Musicians!
@BassWhispererTV2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the music. I have a bass set up with gut for thump, and one with steel for sustain... but it's nice to make the sustain go away sometimes. I'm a thumper.
@jazzman19542 жыл бұрын
@@BassWhispererTV interesting! Are you still using the KK baby bass? Do you still rate it? I’m thinking of getting one but I can’t afford to buy a lemon. Thanks
