One thing I'm surprised no one's mentioned since the leak a few weeks ago is that it's ESRB rating includes the "In-Game Purchases" tag. They're definitely planning to sell some kind of DLC.

Time Splitters took the torch and ran with it though, those games were so good. There's an indie team working on remakes - but it's been a fairly slow process. Hopping to see them finished in 2025

And many of the new games either follow the style of recent, related remakes...or they are intended to fit the look of the series. I think Mario & Luigi looks better than DS, but it might look like what you IMAGINE the DS looks like.

@@Ryu All of the previous Mario & Luigi games were sprite-based and only used 3D models in certain cutscenes, this was basically aiming to retain the charm of that with full 3D models, so it uses cartoony shaders and outlines. I'd recommend checking em out, if you like Mario RPG and seem to be enjoying TTYD, you'll love the classic M&L games and this one's looking to be a great sequel to them.

I have a dream game idea of a DKC collection... You can toggle Original, 2D-HD, or Tropical Freeze's engine graphics. You then can play through the levels as all 4 Kongs, but they have the GBA additional content... and new Kong Banana bunches that can be collected by accessing top secret areas with Dixie Kong in DKC, Kiddie Kong in DKC2, and Donkey Kong in DKC3. Finding all the secrets, 100%ing the games, and the Top Secrets will get you DKC levels unique to this version of the game and be able to play as Funky Kong across the first three games. So it's a collection, a remake, and a new game all in one.

Agree in that Dream Team was my favorite, so is definitely worth mentioning, but disagree in that I really didn't like Bowser's Inside Story all that much. Not that I disliked it, but there were certain aspects of it that really dragged it down for me. Especially in the replay department, and I value replayability almost more than the enjoyment of a game's first run when it comes to judging whether or not I like a game.

18:20 Phantom Brave first came out in 2004, this is HUGE news that an actual sequel emerges after 20 long years! Those that know, truly know how special, quirky and unique Phantom Brave is. The characters, the story, the gameplay and party customization. It came out after Disgaea did, and to this day, there isnt really another game of it's kind. This game is a sapphire, a hidden gem, a true jewel. I also overlooked this game back in the day, and saw it in stores occasionally. I should have picked it up and shared it with my dad since we both enjoyed the Disgaea series so much. Ryu skipped it and just doesn't know what he's missing with the first game and the enhanced rereleases on Wii, PSP, and Steam. For the love of an otherworldly babe from planet Laika My Bootie III in the Densezar Cluster, please give it a chance and play a few chapters in Phantom Brave, Ryu!!

perfect dark and golden eye on the N64 are running on the same game engine. they do not only look similar, they also play very much alike

They even brought over several guns from Goldeneye into Perfect Dark. Think most are only available via in-game unlockable cheats, though.

Can't say I'm freaking out. In terms of graphics it's a little bit better, but in terms of gameplay there was 0 new things. Everything they showed was pretty much exactly the same as other Prime games. And in terms of environment they didn't really show anything all that special either. And that overview shot at the end ah... doesn't even look quite as impressive as the environment of Xenoblade Chronicles X, a 2015 Wii U game. I mean, it could be an amazing game. But this trailer was complete garbage.

I'm withholding judgement on the graphics/new things because it's just a teaser for an unfinished title; release will probably look better than the footage. I agree it didn't give us much, but it seems like the point was to show it's real, even if unfinished .

@@Stratelier That's also why I'm unimpressed. They haven't shown anything unique to Prime 4. For a Nintendo trailer, it was just bad. Nintendo usually focuses on showcasing new things in trailers and what the game's actually about.

Man, I know the series isn't for everyone but seeing Ryu insta-skip Ace Attorney but not the dumb Funko Pop game was a little painful For real though pretty awesome Direct, lot of good stuff coming, always wanted to play DQ3 but I'm not sure if I can justify paying $60 for an NES game with better graphics...

Perfect Dark is Goldeneye on steroids. The story isn’t based on a film and is more interesting. Plus the weapons (with each having a secondary function) are more diverse and fun to experiment with. I’ve been hoping for so long that one day Nintendo would bring it back.

If you've never played Dragon Quest/Warrior before, I still recommend playing I then II then III. Or at least play I before III.

I agree, because spoiler warning for those who haven't: The surprise ending of the third game pretty much rides on you having played the previous two games. It would be like watching the Star Wars movies in chronological order, and expecting to still be surprised when Darth Vader reveals his identity to Luke. The games are narratively designed to be played in release order, otherwise you miss out on the build-up to the third game's ending.

So that new Zelda trailer ... you gotta admit, technically Link did save the princess... Also, looks like you can only create up to 4 echoes (metered by the triangles trailing behind Tri), and some objects may have a higher "cost" than others.

Good Direct! Lots of great stuff! Yeah, I've heard Nintendo never liked Conker's Bad Fur Day even after it launched on the N64, so the odds of it ever getting re-released on a Nintendo console are like slim to none. They want to pretend it never existed.

For some reason I still don't have the N64 update. The GBA update worked like usual but the N64 app says it's up to date and yet there's nothing new, no Turok and no Perfect Dark.

I've been hoping for a zelda game where you play as both zelda AND link back and forth in different segments of the story, and in the end can tag team between them. This is one step closer at least :^\

I gotta say calling the game a remake because you "think" it looks "old" graphically because it's utilizing the Mario & Luigi games style is a tad presumptuous. I mean you admit you've never played those games. I highly recommend you look up Mario & Luigi Dream Team and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam for a bit of reference. In my perspective this game looks absolutely phenomenal graphically speaking, especially compared with those older titles on a much less powerful platform. I understand everyone sees things differently but let's try to be fair here. Cheers.
