I got the yellow switch lite as well. I'm happy with it as my first experience with Switch. I treat it as a succesor to 3DS, rather than a console.

This seems like a worthwhile device for its audience and price. If you just want to play singleplayer games on a cheap but highly functional and simple handheld there isn't anything available that comes close to this. I agree that the OG Switch felt somewhat "loose" and fragile as a handheld. It's the OG Switch's biggest flaw in my eyes.

I use my switch exclusively handheld, mainly while watching my kids. I had assumed we wouldn't be able to have downloads active on two devices. If we can, I might grab a Lite.

Your impressions sold me on this little device (except in turquoise because that color is gorgeous) . I've been scavenging videos trying to figure if I should buy the V2 or the lite. Its 1:28am and I stumbled upon your video and it helped me a lot! You went straight to the point and gave great points. I've had a psvita and the new nintendo 3ds that I played often. I also have a ps4 already connected that really gets played less than I'd like. So the handheld is such a better option. My only concerns were the screen and if I'd want the TV mode. However this cleared it all up. Good video!

Pretty neet so see a size comparison with so many handhelds over the years actually. And I believe the Atari Lynx I was even a tiny bit larger than the II. Still probably not as long as the normal Switch.

I love Nintendo handhelds, but I've yet to get a Switch due to funds going towards my new PC build, so this is right up my ally with the cheaper price, but I think I'll wait till Nintendo gets some refurbished units up on either their official eBay store, or website, and save even a bit more coin.

I actually hate the feeling of the joycon. Its too small for my hands. I'm looking forward to getting the lite.

While I do love the formfactor and D-Pad, I kinda prefer the whole dockability of the OG Switch. But that's just me. :v

Nintendo switch lite feels complete, I know demo kiosks at Target aren't the best, the anti theft chains and such make it heavier but atleast when you hold it, it feels like a complete unit unlike the switch. Love my Switch but the joycons on the side and the switch itself, joycons wobble too much during Gaming, if your not careful, one day those rails will break, thus making it useless for handheld mode. Lite feels like a New 3dsxl, which was comfy.

I dont understand if it had tv out and detachable controller wouldnt be called a switch then? Why would they call it a switch lite if switch lite had all the same oltions as the switch? I just.dont get where they are coming from.

I'm a fan of the smaller systems like the Vita and esp the PSP but the new Lite Switch is grabbing me I want one more than the other. The regular Switch is to big so weird to take places but the lite with a good case I think it works. Still will always love the Vita more ,,,well for now cause I don't have a Switch lite.....Gotta sale something to buy something oh well 😊

While a small size is obviously a plus for a portable device, what most people don't see to remember, or care about, is that the smaller the device, the more uncomfortable it is to handle over long periods of time. I find the dualshock controllers, and even the Xbox One/360 controllers to be a bit too small for my perfect comfort while gaming. Not just in girth, but also and more importantly in the distance between the left and the right part. I want them to be as far apart as possible. The original Switch with the detachable controllers had something going on, but the little I used one I find them too thin and not the best of shapes to hold for a while, to say the least. Why can you not play the same game at the same time if they are downloads? Is it a DRM reason? Do you have to be online to play your games? I am asking you as I don't have a Switch.

Actually, that power adapter is known as a wallwart, for obvious reasons. A "brick" is the type that has the adapter "inline", where there is a cable on either side of the adapter. One cable goes to the AC power mains and the other goes to the unit. So it looks like a brick between the two cables. The XBox has this type of adapter as do other electronic devices. A wallwart can have issues with space consumption when plugging into a power strip. It can cover up some of the other outlets depending on placement. A brick generally has a 2 or 3 prong plug on the AC side which alleviates that issue. And sometimes the AC side cable is removable and can be a more or less standard power cord, ie IEC. I know it sounds nit-picky, but the distinction can sometimes be a deal breaker or a best a pain in the rear.

I think personally that the switch lite is just on the edge of being too small. remember what kind of games the switch plays. it plays AAA, full sized, console and PC games and some games are already hard to make out on the switch lite like for example Titan Quest. A smaller display or console would make text in most games unreadable (switch already had a zoom in feature for this as it is). also consider form factor. the switch lite has more or less full sized joysticks which require a certain way of holding the console to use. Switch lite is even in this aspect on the edge of being too small. reaching for the joysticks if you have bigger hands means u gotta shift your holding of it expecially if you go between the D-Pad the joystick. Switch lite is the perfect size for what it's ment to play right now. any smaller and it will cause issues. they could though redesign it for a better grip and the same size display but in a smaller formfactor.

I got the blue Nintendo Switch Lite and I’m loving it. I have been wanting to get back into Nintendo games for a while, but $360 + for the system and games was just a bit too much for a primarily PS4 player. I found a Switch Lite brand new for $170 final so I had to. It’s great to carry around, and I’m having a blast with it. Cheers!

I agree, the Lite has a better build quality than the Original Switch. I just wished they didn't named it Switch because it's not a switch, the Lite is not handheld and then docked... then the "LITE" name doesn't give the device confidence.. It denotes a device that is on a lower or a weaker level. It's an awesome game device. More handheld-ish than the original Switch.

Regular switch screen is too small already. It's not a pocket console. It's a portable console. In many games the UI feels cramped. I think the issue is that people don't want pocket consoles anymore. They have a smartphone for that now.

I agree on the love/hate relationship with Nintendo. I WANT to want to buy Nintendo's stuff but the value just isn't there. The specs are so far behind every single other hardware manufacturer its laughable. Somehow in 2013 Google made a very similar product for $70 less than the standard Switch. The nexus 7 2013 even had a higher resolution display. Obviously I'm not expecting the controllers to come free but really? This isn't even a light tablet replacement. There's no reason Nintendo couldn't have launched the new base model with a more powerful SOC and a 1080p display and better app support at $299. As for the lite, 720p is fine, but I'm in complete agreement that the physical size of the complete console is way too big. It should have been a clamshell with the same size display but with a form factor similar to the GPD android consoles. Games, oh my god the games. I admit, I've been spoiled by PC game prices. But the cost of games on EVERY SINGLE platform Nintendo has ever made is entirely too high. When a cheap game is $20 and $60 games have been on store shelves for years, your platform has a problem. And if the games are going to be this over priced, why is the console so over priced for something so under powered? I want to love Nintendo, but it's very difficult to.

got the switch on Friday here in nz its amazing only paid like 10nzd for mine i used money and giftcards i get from doing surveys and other tasks on lots of different websites that how i got the money to build my ps and buy a 4k 50" tv and ps4 and xbox one and so many other things

I don't get this device. It's not even a switch if it can't switch. I don't get why it don't have a cast HDMI stick, even if it would cast in 720p and with the dock mode power.. it should be able to cast on a TV.. Also the original Switch i also don't get. As you said, it's a terrible hand held, so why not just make is a console.

There are no critical reviews of the Switch Lite which is foolish. Just given the amount of reviewers there should be some variance but it seems universally praised. My concerns/comments: 1. I am not a fan of the colors. Why couldn't they just do a black? The problem with light matte colors is they stain over time from being handled. Gloss plasticsby in large don't suffer the same problem which is why you dont see matte controllers as standard. 2. White joycons will stain and yellow with time - see white wii nunchucks on ebay. 3. The joycons appear to be the same build as a regular switch so they will likely suffer from the same drift problems. But now they are even harder to service to fix since you have to open the unit. 4. Am i missing something when people praise how portable it is? It seems like 25% smaller than a regular switch which was portable anyway. 5. No tv out. The unit is less expensive but seriously? The whole switch gimmick is to "switch". I get it's just the brand now but to me it is part of the appeal of the console in the 1st place! 6. Cheap build quality. What is with console manufacturers now? PS/MS/Nintendo all have shitty quality control and build quality. For the price we as consumers pay it's not fair. Look i get the appeal of the switch lite and think it will sell well but the universal positive reviews across youtube have tilted me. These concerns are just basic stuff!

The switch lite shouldn't exist, nintendo should of made the original switch the 3ds replacement, and made a dedicated games console to compete with ps5 and xbox scarlett. Nintendo can't do anything right, with them it's just fuckup after fuckup and when nintendo are forced to make another console there will be two portable switch's on the market. they should of called the switch lite , the switch kids edition or something , then it would make more sense having a second switch on the market.
