They not the same size V1 the speakers are not on the back, those are vents for the cooling system Speakers are on the front below the screen

The switch is such a game changer in handheld industry of gaming. My biggest and most obvious complain is the lack of power. Wish for whatever next switch they gonna make, they change the chip to much powerful one so it can support more game at 60fps AT LEAST.

You can also jailbreak the V1 switch the OLED too apparently

OLED you need a modchip which is expensive and may not work, and need to be semi-decent at soldering, pain.

v1 and v2 had both joy con color options and even the oled had a neon joy con option instead of white

Also the main difference between v1 vs v2 and oled is v1 is hackable, it means you can play retro games like gba, psp, ps1 snes, etc using emulators. thats a huge impact. but for me battery life is more important.

The back of the OLED has a very wide kick stand. And most OLED snap on cases have a big hole for that. The v1 and v2 only have a small kick stand.

im trying to decide which switch to get. the normal red box switch is currently on sale for £250 (usually £280) and the oled is on for £305 (usually £322). im trying to decide on if i spend the extra £55 for the oled or just go for the red box one

I don’t think so. Even with the V2 the battery is a bigger capacity.

The battery is the same it's the CPU of the V2 that's more energy efficient because they are using a 17nm chip instead of a 20nm chip. So less energy will be lost to heat

Honestly, what I like the most about the Nintendo Switch consoles is their design and concept. Im not a fan of the console as a whole though

After using the OLED. If you had to go back to the V2, would that make the experience lesser? I have a V2 and play handheld only, debating whether to go on the hunt for the OLED. I do realize the screen is the main difference for handheld mode. Similar to buying a new TV but having the same console. Thank you for the content.

For me, if I put more than 20hrs a week into my switch then I would definitely upgrade. But if you are VERY casual, then I don’t think it’s worth it.

Did you buy it? I just bought mine, will arrive soon, it was an upgrade from V1. I'm planning to sell the V1 I have anyway.

I heard the Oled has burn in issues, meaning you can’t play long because it heats faster than the v2 which then causes dead pixels on the screen. If you have V2 and the battery is still good, I recommend you stick with v2

I got the animal crossing v2 set for $280 new and the switch OLED is cool but meh. I think the screen size/body ratio is more noticeable than the OLED after some testing at a friend's. Those clean bezels are a must for some. I play 85% smash bros on my v1/new v2 so I was super paranoid the ui from matches would burn in

No it doesn’t,watch the ifixit tear down.The version 2 has the bigger fan and fatter copper heatsink from the first although it has the cooler chip.same chip as the oled but the oled they cut costs with a smaller fan and thinner copper heatsink.

The OLED is actually a few millimeters thinner and longer then the v1 and v2 models. So some carrying cases and snap on cases may not fit. In my own experience the OLED has better wifi capabilities. My v1 Switch won't pick up the wifi signal in my room. My room is located on the second floor at front of my house and the router is in the kitchen at the back of the house on the first floor. But the OLED picks up the signal. If you watch tear down videos, you'll see that the OLED has slightly different internal components.

You literally failed to mention the main difference between v1 and v2 switches. 🤦🏽‍♂️The only reason v2 exists is because the V1 version of the switch is hackable. That’s why they’re so similar. That is the main difference because the battery isn’t that big of a difference.

@@jdnaveen321 So much contradiction there. Barely can eat, but can buy a pc. You need a very good pc, which will be pricey to run the emulator you mentioned. It's best to admit that you're wrong, instead of giving contradictory excuses.
