XBC/XCX spoilers Well, when you compare it to the main character being killed off at the end of the 2nd act, or alternatively literally everyone already being 'dead', suddenly it's not so surprising.

I know. My point is I'm not thoroughly convinced that Takahashi doesn't *do* lighthearted. :P Actually I'm kidding, during the demo GamExplain showed, there was a cutscene where Rex was trying to pull Pyra up but she was too heavy so Poppi had to stand in and help. I'm assuming stuff like that is what he meant by that statement.

@@zt9233 When Shulk was a child, during the "Monado Expedition" he and everyone else in the expedition were killed, but Shulk was revived by the Monado. That's all I meant. Definitely play both XC2 and XCDE! Sorry about the spoiler but don't worry, this was only one minor one in a series absolutely packed full of surprises.

Radiant Beach Shulk should I start with XCDE or with XC2? What’s put me off of XC2 all this time is I’m worried about “fan service” being too much and making it too awkward. Even though story seems really intriguing to me.

@@zt9233 The stories run parallel, so you could start with either, but you need to play both to understand both. I would personally say start with XCDE, since XC2 explains some stuff from XC1, while XC1 really doesn't explain anything from XC2, and we currently only know of one XC2-related retcon in XCDE. Now, about fanservice in XC2. It is definitely true that there is some moderate fanservice in female character designs. However, among story-required characters, only Pyra, Mythra, and Brighid have noticeably fanservicey outfits for the duration of the story, while Nia does have an optional appearance later in the game that's less modest. (Mythra does have her "censored" Smash Bros. outfit available in-game as free DLC.) Yes, those characters do have fanservicey outfits, but their costume design has no bearing on their characterization, and all of them are treated in a respectful, non-sexualized way in the story (well, except for the obligatory hot spring scene, but that can be skipped, and the foreshadowing in it will go over the head of anyone on a first playthrough anyway). Female story characters do have equippable swimsuit outfits, but those are optional paid DLC. As far as optional Blades go, there are some pretty bad cases of oversexualized female designs (Dahlia comes to mind), but the best rare Blades in the game (with the exception of Zenobia) have respectful, relatively modest designs, so you can have an S-tier party setup entirely without those sexualized optional Blades.

The Kengeki Goomba Because it's the original dialogue most of the time. Also generally, Japan has a lot more talented voice actors for this kind of stuff, so the quality tends to be higher. Trust me, for every cringy japanese line you hear, I can find you 10 english ones since the VA usually isnt up to par.

Dude, same. Fortunately though, Xenoblade 2's english dub is actually pretty good. Not the best, but certainly enjoyable. The characters of different nations have different real world accents than each other, and I think it really adds to the immersion. Not that I didn't like the all British cast last time around, I think Xenoblade 1's voice cast was just as charming if not moreso. I just really liked the variety and it added to the immersion for me. And Rex's voice acting isn't even as bad as the initial trailers led everyone to believe. I don't even know if they kept "Take THIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!!!! in the final game, I'm super far along in it and it still hasn't happened.
