A complete playthrough of the 1993 Electronic Arts' Action-RPG for the Sega Genesis, The Immortal.
This is a really pretty game, but I still prefer the NES version because of its music. This one, however, has some epic death scenes going on. I've included many of them over the course of the playthrough. Hope you enjoy it!

game difficulties back in the 90s were really something else. games have now gotten far easier in the name of accessibility, but in reality it’s just game studios wanting to maximize profits by shifting focus onto easily marketable elements while letting more players feel confident playing them. a bit sad considering difficulty was one thing in games that drew crowds. nowadays people call Souls games “too difficult”…
@okarowarrior

@@Peterotica totally wrong. Back then it was more profitable for you to spend 100 hours in the same stupid cryptic game because the game market wasn't as populated as it has been in the last decades. And ffs, people calling Dark Souls franchise "too difficult" most of the times do it for the meme. It's a _meme_ you brick headed doofus. Let me guess, you define yourself as a _gamer_ dont you? my god...

This is by far one of my favorite Genesis RPGs. One of the finest and hardest games for the Sega and took much training to finish. Special thanks for engaging in one on one combat! Too many playthroughs are skipping some of the best animations, which were found in those fights. AND showing some deaths for our Wizard as well! "It's not about IF you die, but HOW you die."
@ryanamberger

This game is amazing. The grotesque violence in such an early game is astonishing. I like the animation of going down ladders, how he puts his staff down, starts on the ladder and grabs it as he descends. That some attention to detail with the programming. You blow my mind as usual with this amazing play through.
@NintendoComplete
@NintendoComplete 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) the attention to detail is really impressive. But, sometimes that becomes a real pain, like when you die trying to use the ladder if you aren't standing on the right side of the gap ;p
@VastyVastyVoid
@VastyVastyVoid 4 жыл бұрын
@@NintendoComplete I used to play this on the Amiga. Fewer animations, but still, for my money, the best animation (in either game) is when Ulindor stabs Dunric. You can almost see the muscles moving beneath the skin; you can see the tension of his body, how he's stretched out in agony. Given the 320x200 resolution, this shit would be hard to do with super-deformed cartoon characters. But when you have _realistic_ proportions? It's just breathtaking.

Lol this game drove my brother insane with frustration, especially the part at 35:17 - 36:17 where he couldn't figure out how to escape the sewer monster. When he tried to go up the ladder only to have a tentacle pull him back in he screamed bloody murder and I was upstairs at the time and had to rush back down to his room. Ah, memories...

never owned a genesis but I had this on Nintendo. Such a huge influence. Glitchy as hell but you could see the effort they put into the layouts and animations and overall creepy d&d dungeon feel. pushed those little 8 bits as far as they could. the genesis kept it more or less the same but just smoothed everything out. I still think it's a totally underrated classic. the soundtrack was also badass.

From start to finish, I feel this game, on the Genesis, is the most D&D 1st or 2nd ed. based video game they ever made, and it isn't even D&D. The mixture of the graphics, the dialogue, the items, and just about everything about this game puts into your mind an early D&D game, in the starting years, run by a dungeon master for a solo play. I honestly feel incredibly sorry for those, when the game came out, who played the NES version... The graphics were much poorer, and the dialogue and item descriptions were often truncheoned, and the fights had no battle-chess type endings, to the point where it was impossible to feel about the NES version the way you felt about the Genesis version.
