If Nintendo would really let this year pass without new hardware, they're more stupid than anyone thought. Repeating the same mistake like they did at Wii's end. The Switch, as much as I love it, is obsolete at this point. And the silence really isn't helping.

Lmao, it was probably Nintendo themselves who spread this rumor that the Switch 2 will be delayed till 2025, so that the current Switch sales wouldn't plummet. If people think they'll need to wait one more year to get the new system, they will still buy the Switch in 2024. Nintendo wants to sell the Switch as much as they can, and surpass the PS2 numbers if possible

I am in complete agreement with your opinion and am not giving up on Switch 2 in 2024 for all the reasons you listed and if it doesn’t release this year we all have a backlog that’s constantly looming over us 🤣. I’ll be interested to see what their software gameplan is for 2024. Last year many fans thought Tears of the Kingdom was going to be the last major AAA Nintendo release outside of of course whenever Metroid Prime 4 releases and I do still think MP4 will be a cross-gen title.. But then the June Direct happened and we were all taken by total surprise when Super Mario Wonder, Super Mario RPG and Pikmin 4 was announced along with seeing a first look at the Princess Peach game and learning about Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. So if the Switch 2 doesn’t come out this year, I think Nintendo will still find a way to take care of its fans with 1st party content and I can think of a number of ways that they could do that.

"Strike while the iron is hot." Delaying the Switch successor to 2025 is beyond foolish. Interest will greatly decline by then, and Nintendo will have to contend with more powerful hardware from competitors. That's why I still cling to a 2024 general release. But again, Nintendo has done some pretty foolish things in the past...

i can live with an early 2025 release, but at this point, it only makes sense for it to come out in mid-late summer. and the "sources" of the 2025 claim only makes sense with the arguments given in this video about holding back 3rd party releases to prevent oversaturation at launch

I’m afraid that if Nintendo waits too long to release it the switch 2 will end up like TOTK. Where people start to get exhausted by the wait, and yeah it’s objectively better in every way but it still gets hate because it does not have the novelty and may not be worth the longer wait times

Whether it's this year or early next year doesn't make TOO much of a difference for me at this point. Longest we're waiting from here is a year (assuming any of these leaks are correct) and that was where we were a few months ago anyway so it isn't much of a set back. I'm just concerned with what they're going to do to fill that gap between the original end of the year date and the new date next year. I expected this year to be somewhat dry but I hope they don't just try to stretch it too much. As far as the whole rumor subject, I think the reason rumors are so rampant and used to gather information on Nintendo stuff is due to how quiet Nintendo actually is. They aren't very transparent, and if they were more open with things like the development of rumored or leaked games or consoles then leaks and rumors wouldn't be nearly as popular. Don't get me wrong, Nintendo can do as they please. They don't owe that transparency to anyone, and they can run their business however they want to. It's just that the popularity of rumors and leaks are the consequences of their silence. It is what it is.

If we get just announcement of a code name either this month or next month and they follow anything close to the Switch timeline, we might end up with launch between February and April 2025. If we get surprised and this coming Direct is a general, not a partner showcase, then we might get an announcement via code name either closing out the Direct or having a code name dropped on Twitter as a supplement to the Direct, which means this pretty likely. If it is just a partner showcase, we’ll be hearing something about releases of hardware and software one way or another, some time between March and May. If we get a code name this month or in March, we could see a teaser trailer with no release date going up Q3 FY2025, a reveal event in late December, and a launch in February or March 2025. If we get a teaser this month or March that also reveals the name, we’re probably getting the reveal in May or June for a launch sometime between September and very early November. If they do a full on blowout reveal in March, it’s going to probably be a summer launch. Because that could sabotage sales of new consoles (which have been in decline since 2021 or 2022, whenever the pandemic buying started dying down for them) and new software, which software sales themselves overall are in a decline for Switch as well. Lots of moving parts and conditionals. There are other possibilities that I haven’t even mentioned. But yeah, some of the dev partners who have reported this are from markets that typically get a delayed hardware launch anyway, in comparison to Japan, the US, and other larger markets. So it could be that those markets aren’t getting as delayed of a launch as usual, but Nintendo wants to save the launch of games made in, for example, Brazil for the Brazilian launch.

Selling Switch 2 AFTER the Holidays has to be the dumbest decision

The uncertainty around what the memo says and who received it leaves a lot of uncertainty on the scene, especially if it's all within the fiscal year with that investor meeting coming up. I've also been wondering for a while about the issue of having too many games release at the same time, though more from a line up perspective prior to now. It would make a lot of sense for Nintendo to be strategically staggering releases, and it would be all to easy for third party dev to have been expecting a very early release to then misinterpret what it means for their game to get pushed back in the line up without talking to other devs. As for the line up, the two biggest games thrown around for launch titles is a new 3D Mario and MP4. Would those step on each others toes? In that case, I don't think so, but we have seen releases like (iirc) Super Mario Galaxy and FE10, with the latter being completely overshadowed (though, not marketing it doesn't help, either...). Now, I don't have a great sense for which games would outcompete each other, so I'm not sure what to think for expecting staggered releases (Donkey Kong over shadows Kirby making the latter's sales plummet? A new Mario Kart causes no one to want to use MP4 multiplayer? etc) Are there possible launch titles that cannot coexist together and would have to be staggered just so Nintendo could avoid shooting itself in its proverbial foot? If it's not a nebulous question, may be worth a video when we get closer and have more to chew on for what software is coming down the pipeline.

2025 seems far too late to release a switch 2.

It will be out this September. The reason why is because it was accidentally leaked by an actual developer making peripherals or games for it that Nintendo themselves made them retract. Look it up! Most likely it will be released on a Thursday in September. I believe September 5th. 2024.

I think the Mig switch caused the delay. If "Switch 2" had backward compatibility via a cartridge slot that could take Switch 1 cartridges, the Mig Switch would allow piracy from day one. Hence, they HAD to make major last-minute changes to the Switch 2 to combat the Mig Switch cartridges.

This is the only time a console tht was never announced in the first place got delayed, which in reality means no delay at all, and will be released when it was supposed to be released.

here is why 2024 makes sense because switch 2 will be bc there is no need for nintendo to worry about having enough games for switch 2 launch so many of us switch fans have a huge backlog of games to play..

I still believe a 2024 reveal and launch will happen, as I have since around October 2023. I think they are giving some devs later times to have their games ready by to help space out titles across the fiscal launch year. (That's why it's the first quarter of 2025 or last fiscal quarter of 2024.)

At first I was thinking 2024, but with theses reports, it sounds like Nintendo wants to have more games ready for the system. Plus their still making games for the Switch(Even if their ports, remakes and remasters) so we're not exactly in a Wii U situation. A 2025 release makes more sense than it coming out late this year. Nintendo and Nvidia are currently working on the system, features, and all the bells and whistles, etc etc. The system is in its drafting stage like any other console, duh. Nintendo is not going to rush out the Switch 2 for the sake of rumor bots (Jeff Grubb), idiot KZfaqrs, and fake desperate fans. Plus, nothing was ever officially announced by Nintendo themselves. If anything, Nintendo will likely follow the same route as the original Switch. A reveal trailer in Oct 2024, and potential big presentation in Japan on Jan 2025, and a worldwide launch in Mar 2025 with a big launch game. As well as having one heck of consistent lineup of big games in the first year like the Switch did. The Switch's hardware and software sales momentum is still going strong (140 million worldwide) and they're not going to stop that. And the usual evergreen games will still push Switch sales. Plus, more games are coming to Switch. We just don't know what and/or when yet. So far for now, there's Mario vs Donkey Kong Remake, Paper Mario TTYD Remake, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, and Freedom Planet 2. Right now, there's over like a thousand Switch games (1st party and 3rd party), and a bunch of quality indie games that fans probably missed out on, that should go out and buy/play them instead of complaining.

I think a teaser in March where they only share the codename for the next system is going to happen. They reveal the system and some games in June Nintendo Direct. Business wise releasing it March 2025 would be a good idea. Nintendo may have upcoming Switch games not announced yet that could sell more Switch systems. When Bloomberg reports it I think the Switch 2 rumors are true. Nintendo's strategy would be building up an install base on Switch 2 and then open the floodgates with lots of games. Hopefully Assassins Creed Red is coming to Switch 2 and Assassin's Creed Jade to Switch.

We are either getting massive games/remasters this year or we'll end up getting a next generation console in 2024. Nintendo is a busy company but they can't just stop providing new content for an entire year, surely something BIG will be announced this year.

I was hoping Nintendo didn’t need a 2017 again bc the third party titles, ie Elden Ring, Madden, 2k, COD etc. could help carry the system while we have first party games 2-3 times a year. If Mario is not ready for release in 24, I understand then. But having multiple first parties ready doesn’t make sense

I really think this thought makes perfect sense. I know can still be wrong, but that's how things goes when we don't have the real information, we are ALL only speculating. Anyway, I really hope the 'switch2" will be reveal this year, even if only launching in 2025.

The Brazil theory doesn't make sense, PH is Brazilian but his sources are from other places in the world and at the time of the launch of the Switch 1 in 2017, Nintendo was no longer officially in Brazil, this has now changed and it even launches Physical games around here, so that doesn't make sense

If the delay rumor is true, it is still a delay of an expected launch this year, meaning Switch games won't magically appear instead. So is a dead, old console year worse than a slow new console launch? Don't know, but Nintendo can be pretty squirrely with what they think is best. And of course, Nintendo will delay games that aren't perfectly polished yet. I think the announcement of the Switch 2 still has to be done. Can Nintendo really go into the next investors meeting with just two remasters for a whole year? I doubt it. And again, games don't appear out of nowhere. Switch 2 delayed or not delayed (and its subsequent games) seem to be what Nintendo is spending all its time on.

It is possible these switch 2 first party games and third party partners games aren't ready to launch this year and launch next year. The technology in the Switch 2 is from 2020. So by the time we get this thing it will have 5 year old mobile technology in it. At this point the Switch 2 will be very close to PS6 and next Xbox coming out.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch successor doesn't come out until 2025. Because if they were truly gonna release it this Christmas, they would have officially announced the console by now, or have given us a codename for the upcoming console. Because the Atlantis was first mentioned in 1996, & then released in 2001 under Game Boy Advance. The Revolution was first mentioned in 2004, & then shown off in 2005, & then released in 2006 under the name Wii. The NX was first mentioned in 2015, then shown off in 2016 under the name Switch, & then released in 2017. Plus, the Switch is doing/selling really well, & Nintendo learned the hard way by discontinuing the Wii early, & releasing the Wii U early that you don't walk away from a slot machine when it's paying off, friends! And they have been known to delay consoles. The 64 was supposed to release in 1995, but was delayed to 1996. Game Boy Advance was supposed to release in 1996, but was delayed to 2001. And, the Switch was supposed to release in 2016, but got delayed to 2017. All I want is a Switch port of Yoshi's Woolly World, & I'll be satisfied!

What are these expected performance intensive titles that are soo demanding that a switch 2 is even needed? my thing is people constantly telling me how things can perform and look beautiful on the switch and any games that don't are purely unnoptimized and not so polished, never gonna get the current big triple A you're gta6's etc so what's the need for a switch 2?? the next Pokemon, Mario , Zelda etc could absolutely look incredible and be better optimised and polished for the current system given whatever art style they choose so what's the need of a switch 2? princess peach showtime couldn't run better without it or be better optimized please 😂

if it turns out to be 2025, my thought is it might have been delayed because supposedly this fall we're getting a new system from Xbox and we're getting a PlayStation Pro. So maybe they didn't want to hurt switch 2 sales by launching it against the other consoles.

If its truly on hold...... "To secure better first party software " ...... Look at the rest of the landscape ..... And it makes sense....... I don't even know what to make of this video. Is it copium to suggest that Switch 2 will launch in 2024 when a bunch of outlets are now reporting that it has slipped to 2025 or is it more hopium that you simply WANT the system to come out in 2024 despite the fact that Nintendo has said absolutely nothing thus far on the system even truly existing aside from "we are always working on new hardware..."? Either way, it seems meaningless to worry either way at this point as it's out of all of our hands and really all that anyone can do is wait for Nintendo to say ANYTHING about their next system actually being a known quantity that's worth consideration. Realistically speaking, if the system is indeed coming out this year or early next year they would have to at least mention it at their next investor meeting in May which will talk about their upcoming fiscal year so I do expect that Nintendo will at least announce the system some time before then; be it in March or April. I've already stated that I really don't have any skin in the game as I can't currently afford another gaming console likely until sometime next year anyway. However, I am getting a bit tired of all of these videos coming up nonstop in my feed basically saying the same stuff over and over again and I fear for my feed all of the negative videos that'll pop up if Nintendo doesn't have some banger games coming out later this year to appease the masses OR a brand new shiny console for people to ruminate over. So I'll just wait to see what Nintendo does to shed light on the matter and then listen carefully for when the actual hardware leaks start to come because realistically until the system is in mass production you know it's still a good 4-6 months out from release anyway.

Nah stop doing this to yourself. Always temper your expectations. Keep it to the lowest even. At this point it'd be great to even just finally get an official announcement or maybe a small teaser by Nintendo themselves this year just to give the public a confirmation of the system's existence (AT THE LEAST). Instead of just pondering through all this "trust me bro" rumors that Some may or may not be true, while others were just born out of desperation (and potentially even to clout-chase). I wouldn't mind an early 2025 launch as long as Nintendo can prepare and bolster a meaty lineup of quality launch-titles for the system. Also keep in mind that they're still hoping to sell at least 15 or so million units of the current model this year. So it wouldn't make sense for Nintendo to completely sabotage themselves now by launching the Switch 2 (say, at the tail end of 2024) and further cannibalize any potential sales going towards the Switch 1.

I don't believe Nintendo would put anything in writing about a release window for a top secret system that they haven't talked about at all!! You want to talk about being realistic let's try starting with the obvious here because that is definitely unrealistic. I agree that I believe it will be released in 2024 but I don't have anything to back that up. It's just a gut feeling being a gamer since 1990.
