Small tip for sneaking around, it worked in Nioh 1 and it works here too - hold the block button and walk up to the enemy. You literally tiptoe around when you do this. Also works great for narrow ledges bc it makes you walk in a straight line. Still gotta get the sneak attack skill tho, just dont want the tiger scroll, such a waste.

Here's some additional tips: 1) Burst Counters, each have their advantages, and some are more valuable in certain situations than others. I would recommend either Brute or Feral as starter guardian spirits as their Anima bonus is more useful in the early game. 2) Soul Core typings can be changed by combining them with mortal soul cores of different types. In this way you can create a phantom type Ippon-Datara soul core. 3) Getting a headshot on an enemy prior to engagement is normally more advantageous than a sneak attack, and leave mortal enemies prone. It's also the best way to grab an enemy's attention and pull them from patrols. 4) Early on in the game, there's very little need to respec if you spread out your points for the initial few levels. Min-maxing is best saved for end-game. 5) Whetstones are a thing, if you have a large stack of them, don't hesitate to use them on your new shiny weapon. 6) I genuinely didn't know that, but there's honestly few instances where I need to pause in the middle of a fight. 7) The Dojo Missions needed to unlock skills are unlocked via story. Also, while the novice dojo missions are easy, they do get harder. 8) You can also get locks of hair you missed in a mission by playing as a visitor. Simply look up where the locks of hair are in that particular mission, and guide your quarry to them. When they loot the hairs, they will also drop for you. 9) Try to get quick winded recovery on a piece of gear and keep it through your playthrough via soul matching. You'll thank me later. 10) Sell blues, yellows, and whites; disassemble purples. Money is important for soul matching and forging. You'll also quickly get to a point where rarity and abilities on your armor are more important than anything else, and it's much easier to soul match a low level piece of gear with baller abilities than it is to play the rng slots to try and replicate it through forging.

I just discovered something today, not sure if it was a secret or not, but it gave me an achievement Hehe. When scrolling on the main map, the controller will vibrate and the circle will turn from blue to red. Click on it when it's red and it's gives you a piece of lore and an item. You also unlock the explorer title and achievement.

When starting a new character I used to wait until "Manage Soul Cores" option was available before equipping a soul core. You don't need to wait, you can equip them as soon as you get 1 which is usually in the very 1st mission which gives a small damage boost.

That fact that you can pause just blew my mind!

Didn't even notice until watching this video, but you can easily see whether a piece of armor is light medium or heavy by the number of weight icons grayed out to the left of the defense number

One thing I felt like wasn't explained clearly (or I just missed it) is how Yokai enemies have two Ki gauges. You need to blow through their first one to begin staggering them with attacks (at this point you can go on the offensive), and then depleting the second one lets you knock them down for a grapple.

Feral Burst counter is infinitely better than the other two. Brute has no invulnerability, and you can be grabbed out of it. Phantom needs to be perfect or your ki instantly goes to 0. Feral has invulnerability, a wide range, and is useful even if the enemy isn't using a Burst Attack. Needs balance.

I literally downloaded this last night and all night I was getting my ass whooped. Couldn't defeat the first mission at all. But I leveled up and got better loot. Wish me luck in my journey 😂

Unless they changed it since the first game, you stop getting staggered by most normal attacks at exactly 200 (blue) toughness. Anything below that is completely unreliable and is mostly for reducing Ki damage on block, which begins at 100 (green) and scales up indefinitely. Your goal should be to remain at A agility, while reaching at least 200 toughness at some point. Higher toughness and defense if you can, but that's the minimum, and not an easy to reach baseline. You will likely be at B agility the first time you can realistically reach 200 toughness at best.

Man, I've definitely been neglecting the soul cores. I have a bunch that I'm not using, and just relying on weapon familiarity, and attack patterns. Those snake broads are ridiculous!

There is a skill for fists that lets you charge up a powerful attack while blocking. So instead of backstabbing I just go behind the enemy while blocking and PUNCH. It usually one shots them.

Tip 11: just die alot in first play through, keep griding til you reach new game plus then rape everything with one shot build like i did in nioh 1

I really hope the PC port runs better with NVIDIA cards. I had to stop my Nioh playthrough because it caused crazy overheating and slo-mo issues on my laptop (and my Xbox controller broke). I can run graphically similar games, and those much more intensive, with no issues. But Nioh on PC made my laptop feel like a bomb even when playing on a cooling pad with the heating off in the winter...

Not sure how I never heard of this game til now... so far looks like Dark Souls meets Tenchu. Count me in!

Jeez am I the only one that genuinely enjoys the Brute BC (Burst counter)?? The demon in me pimping slapping the fuck out of enemies to interrupt their "red glowing" moves is so hilarious and so good!!

Freaking burst counter it is easy to perform but I keep pressing R2 and X, I need to practice more

Here's a big tip if you play the PC version... If you die twice and fail to retrieve your soul. Press alt+F4 to exit the game immediately when you see the game-over screen. The game will not get a chance to save so you can start the game back up and try to get your soul back, this way you will never lose your experience points.

Never played a nioh game in my life. Decided to give nioh 2 a try. I've gotten all achievements for games like bloodbourne, sekiro and dark souls games. But I've got to say I'm having difficulty adjusting to niohs combat it's way more complex. Is it just me lol? I've played it for like an hour today since buying it but hopefully tomorrow I can pick it up. Guess I'm going dojo too to get them skills.

Are the soul cores dropped by bosses random or a true drop per boss. Will I need to do multiple boss runs to acquire the specific boss soul core?

Best Advanced Tip : Yokai Weapons ( Corruption ) & Blessed Weapons ( Puritiy ) these weapons at all times they always debuff Yokai Enemies with certain Imbue ( In Nioh 2 if you debuff any Yokai Boss or Enemy twice , meaning anything like Weakness + Sloth or Corruption + Sloth or Corruption + Lightning debuff ) this will produce a 3rd Debuff called "Chaos Debuff/Element" As long as this Element is present on any Yokai Boss or Enemy or Humanoid.... their Whole Ki Bar will stop regenrate ( This also applies to the Yokai Realm Mechanic to all Yokai Bosses in this Game ) this is a pretty Advanced Tip for players in the middle of the Game like i am... Bear in mind that any 2 types of Debuffs still applies ( Even Poison + Paralysis , or Corruption + Poison , or Corruption + Fire Amulet ) 👍🏼 This is a hidden Element/Mechanic that is not Present in any Dojo or anything 🔥 Goodluck ( You can pretty much Delay any Boss Yokai Realm activiation for 10 seconds if you keep stacking this Debuff called "Chaos" it's indicated as this sign ♋ ) an upside Ying Yang debuff.... This debuff is very crucial against any type of Yokai or Yokai Bosses 👌🏼 Not that helpful i'd say against Humanoid Enemies... but it still makes the Job good & done ( Stopping your enemies Ki from Regenration could lead to Insane Damage )

Hi Anybody knows if the roll/dodge on the high stance has some kinda longer invisible frame somewhat. Like maybe sometimes its better to roll on high stance to counter a certain enemy or boss atttack. Althou switching from stance still aint nautral for me. Especially cuz i start with teh Switchglaive
