@@bh9976 I personally use both finger (index & middle) to use R1 & R2 respectively. Same goes for L1 & L2. I would not recommend using only your index finger to do all the input.

You can first learn whats essential to the gameplay like stance switching and flux ll since they can bring greater result to your performance. Once you are comfortable with it, you can move on to other techniques and digest one at a time!

I suggest starting with stance switch and ki pulse to get used with the basis, then move to flux techniques when you are getting comfortable with core mechanics. What I am showing here are info to understand how to effectively use those techniques. Depending how you put yourself into challenge learning them, this guide its like a shortcut instead of spending your time discovering them for past 3 years.

No, I wouldnt suggest doing it. That will be another extra input to go for mobile sheathing attack and you wont enjoy it. You may have to perform sheathing attack only when you are going forward (for an easier experience temporary).

hold block L1 + X is a few frame slower than this dodge cancel,. You mostly need to have proper rhythm inputting this consecutively.

yea this is pretty much an advanced technique to learn after learning ec with low/mid stance. I did infact switch to low stance while doing a high stance dash attack animation so this is how im usually doing: >High stance dash attack >Switch to low stance while doing high stance dash attack >Dodge with low stance >EC to High stance (which it is R1+sheath weapon+High stance >Hold dodge to buffer running >High stance dash Attack >Repeat Importantly, you will need to learn how to press your inputs in a proper rhythm in order to get the hang of it so practicing it consistently is the way to go until you gets it.

I was a sucker for katana low stance lol. I would spam dodge and light attack constantly, it worked since nothing could hit me.

I did, but I chose to deal with the defaut control instead. if you really have to, you can customize your weapon switch input to a different input. Some players that I know put on left directional pad to switch weapon since its nioh 1 previous input. Personally, it can be uncomfortable the first time trying to get the hang of it, but you will get used to it as you keep practicing it. In my experience, the defaut control has been the main layout to use in order to play the game properly, and also where you get to try out most tech discovered here (especially with a controller). Still, it is all preference. Maybe you will be able to perform better in a different layout like how pc players handles it with a keyboard.

It does appear the devs have it set at the most optimal layout already (including the other available presets that have just minor changes for anyone's preference variations). most of them used to be a thing since nioh 1, and it is still present in nioh so we can assume that its now part of the gameplay (knowing that the devs even fixed a lot of major tech before). Katana isnt like NG, but a totally beast of its own genre. The fluidity and versatility of this weapon is unlike any others despite newer weapons like splitstaff and fist being more mechanically advanced. While your build suggestion is great, using onmyo and ninjutsu items can be a great help to your gameplay, and extend is a nice bonus to your kits. Even though the rpg aspect is valuable to level up your character and building your gear, most gameplay mechanics can be done very early without having to grind, its mostly your time practicing that counts the most. Ki pulse is valuable to the gameplay, and can be a great way to regenerate your ki especially when doing Flux (ll) with ki pulse, but dodging can save you from getting hit so its a exchange you will have to make. Also, you can recover faster from your attack animation with ki pulse to block early. For blocking you will need to have higher toughness to block better, and some stats like guard ki reduction and block base stat will help a bit, but thats just one of many playstyle to choose from.

@@LasttoLoad Thank you for the valuable information, I am currently trying the depths using no buffs and focusing on the gameplay aspect of the game at penance +9, I used to be a glass cannon in Nioh 1 so I've always been used to getting one shot but in Nioh 2 I feel like I'm a glass cannon that does no damage so when I'm 1v3+ I kinda just get caught in my s from projectiles, I imagine you use that scroll of the damned thing where you deal more damage but take more damage? That would help me... But I don't have it yet. lol

@@Krugmatik the depth is meant for the grinding so its not specifically made for that playstyle, but that doesnt stop anyone from trying it. My scroll mostly have increase dmg against winded enemy, the rest are utilities: -ult strength/skill -Path of the Gods -extend curse nullification -item drop rate (ethereal)

When triggering Ki pulse, you hold it briefly and go from your initial stance to another stance to stance change (which will trigger flux, flux ll if you change stance twice during ki pulse).

Unfortunately, not all weapon can do that so Heaven Flash in particular does not work with prestance switch. There are only but a few exceptions like Splitstaff (Fill the Void) for Low\Mid Stance and Fist (Knifehand Strike) for all stances.

Stance that you are in doesnt affect Skill dmg. Only thing that can increase skill dmg is the dmg increase with specific stance in your weapon stat and clan buff (also with one indirect exception like High stance buff that you gain from perfect Ki pulse).

you can do NG+ IF you are struggling to beat dlcs. starting NG+ will give you good gear with higher rarity to beat dlcs easier.

You can try to see which buttons are for stance switching, ki pulse, dodge and sheathing weapon for instance. Then, try to reproduce similar input than what it is shown here, but with keyboard\mouse.

Lots of playtime from Nioh 1, we just tested many things that had odd and 'accidental' mechanics

@@connorericson Pressing those input individually is harder to perform evasion cancel. Instead, I recommend sliding your thumb in between X and O (while holding R1 during dodge). If you are sheathing your weapon on the spot, then you successfully evasion cancel. That would be the first step to know how evasion cancel work. Next phase is to know how to perform evasion cancel in quick succession. Timing is important to do it consecutively (which its why I still recommend to slide your thumb for this tech). It is not recommended to do it too fast either since you can disrupt the timing for it. You have to follow the rhythm depending to your character speed until you get it right. At that point, you will need to learn how to use your thumb as well as your finger to press those input properly. *Holding Block is needed to Evasion cancel in quick succession Practice!

The development staff are pretty aware of this stuff despite it being unintended and they provide balance patches which take it into consideration. Any game with competitive elements is going to have its boundaries pushed and its not a bad thinh at all.

Nothing forces you to learn everything to be decent. The video mostly shows most gameplay experience that you can do in this game. Of course, its dedicated to those who are willing to learn how to technically play the game than focusing on the rpg aspect.

You can beat the game with only one stance and ki pulse only if you know how to beat every boss, but you are definitely missing out valuable feature that can help you go throught the game.

Nioh 2 was always easy depending how you manipulate its difficulty. Either you overwhelm the difficulty with overpowered gear\tactic\cheese or call for help from visitor to assist you in your playthrough. Whatever method you try to beat the game is all based to your goal like how you want to beat the game or grab some achievement. Whatever satisfies you the most is why you are playing Nioh.
