I was farming axe users to see if I could get a better one...they just spam triangle, triangle and run out of stamina xD xD The AI is god awful for the axe users

Agreed, so damn slow and easy to take down. Unfortunately, too many damn remnants are either using spears, dual katanas, or the chain scythes.

Gaming With Balance what game are you playing? almost everyone uses katana... also 49,99999% wears Red Demon set and 49,9999% uses Kingo set. xD

Kingo's set is the best for close combat (at least for katanas, dual katanas and kusarigama)

Daan van der Donk I think you and the other people are blind or are selectively choosing remnants. I fight almost every remnant I come across and while most do use katanas, like you mentioned, there are some who use duals, spears, and even the chain-scythes.

But actually, for this build, running out of ki all the time its actually a pro.

I can 100% confirm this.

Prioritize unlock all ki pulse first (allow pulse when dodge, stance chance, etc.) for Axe build, you won't have fun until you unlock mystic art for axe. Try the mad spinner for axe. you will need an axe with skill damage increase, and reduce skill ki consume efffect on it ( element is a plus but for starter you will need those 2 effects on your axe). Run light armor for now (I recommend red demon armor or iga jonin set which you will unlock at region 3 if you are lucky). For guardian, you will want Kato for that skill damage increase effect, although if you are confident in positioning yourself, then go for the bat guardian (aya komori) for massive damage from behind. This game is mostly about how you want to fight enemy, it requires a little skill to always position yourself behind your enemy so that explains how the damage from behind modifier is the deadliest in the game. If you want to tank enemy hit then go with heavy armor like in this video, although early game need a lot of ki management because you will run out of ki so fast. That's why it's better to wait until finish mystic art mission unlock for wearing heavy armor just to be safe. Main stats is just strength and stamina, put some points in heart for extra ki.

Outdated but; you can with enough stamina. also you can roll reduced weight as a stat on armor.

Devo Wizro I have two characters mine saves fine. U can be extra careful by backing up to cloud then turning off auto back up, then when u start a new game if it does delete your original character u can just re download it

This is the reason I don't make multiple saves. I'm worried I'll lose my game. Respeccing isn't all that bad, just need a lot of gold to make these videos xD You can always use a USB to make multiple saves though.

Thank you for the various suggestions. It's good to know there are workarounds. But Team Ninja really needs to take care of this. There's something appealing about the innocence of a new character file, where you're finding stuff for the first time again and scraping by with what you have, that just can't be captured on NG+. It shouldn't be fraught with anxiety.

Basil Williams I hope that's true. I'm always interested in patch notes, but 1.04/1.05 did not state this issue has been fixed (maybe it was fixed in a sort of hushed way?). That's what makes it so frustrating...I'd just like TN to state whether they're working on a fix or already have fixed the problem. It seems some people can make new saves without problems while others get screwed...too risky for me without more info.

Kaido set can be forged by defeating the Kintaro guy in the dojo mission that unlock mystic art for axe. He will drop smitthing text for his armor and his axe (quite a good axe in the game)

Cyrus Wu your build sounds awesome. there's roughly 30k damage on the onryoki here..I have to believe with full buffs maxed atlas bear and gear this would one shot almost everything..but you're right min maxed would be ideal.

Its easily in the realm of a 10-15% increase for the axe builds on normal, non-skill based damage while also vastly increasing your toughness value so you don't have to worry as much when you're trading hits. You can roll skill damage on your preferred axe in place of familiarity bonus though if you use Heaven and Earth or Tri-Spark a lot though. Also, like I mentioned before with the Yasakani' charm, you can effectively forego some damage (~5%) to double stack the two set bonuses from Guzen's and a Kaido and just use whichever axe you can get a better roll of effects on. Using the Mononobe though like I said, promotes you to have 100.0% weight even and since you're saving all the points from the intended stat dump into Stamina, you have more points to flesh out your build for say ninjitsu or onmyo magic skills to support your playstyle. Using the set while using a Steel Talisman I get hit for anywhere between 20-100 damage on small mobs, and somewhere between 300-450 from Yokai when I trade hits or catch the random grab. Not to mention your guard ki from having such a high toughness value means you can block every single hit from an On-Yudo doing his 100-hand slap and still have half a bar of ki to kick his ass afterwards for his transgressions.

I'm not sure how far you are into the game and I probably should have mentioned about necessary reforges and skills from ninjitsu as well, I just thought that it would already be implied. On your pants and boots its required to get 2 effects, "Running Speed" and "Evasion Ki Usage", neither of which can be the critical version. Also, you'll want to have around 20ish Dexterity and focus on the passives near the Tiger Sprint scroll that reduce dash ki usage and dodge ki usage. If you've found enough of the ninja hair by this point you can even increase running speed another 12% there as well. The only other passives require samurai skill points and are the usual from the Kasurigama tree of "Shadow Strike" and "Armor Piercer" as well as the axe skill that just straight up increases damage to Yokai by 12% with axes. If you've unlocked the mystic arts for the axe I'd personally suggest taking the one called "Inner Light" and forget about purifying the Yokai realm pools on the ground as standing in them nets you about a 20-25% damage gain as well. Now after all that's said and done, and if you're still unhappy about the move speed and unable to adjust your combos to it, you can always do what the other 98% of the players in the game do and use either "Red Demon" set for the fastest, most Ki recovered armor set. It would also however require you to have the spear in your offhand so you can still use the Warrior Monk Hood. Or you can run the "Kingo's" set and use the sword in your offhand to get the set bonuses. In the case of the "Red Demon" you won't be able to trade the hits necessary to use an axe but you'll be able to run fast, and in case of "Kingo's you'll need to spend more points in Stamina to get to a "B" rating. You'll do even more damage from behind using the Kingo's but at the same time, the tradeoff will be even greater damage received and harder punishes than the Tatenashi set. Kingo's is for the backstabbing, and Tatenashi's is for the in-your-face approach with no fucks given full of pure rage and limbs flying.

On a side note since I didn't mention it, depending on which route you take from my above advice, you'll also have to pay attention to your spirit guardian that you use and shave off points from your spirit stat to just meet the required needed to max the bonuses of the guardian. Red Demon: Use either Kato (10 Spirit)for ki recovery or Shinka (19 Spirit) for toughness Kingo's: Aya-Komori (15 Spirit) is best used in this slot for back attack and bonus agility damage Tatenashi: Atlas Bear (23 Spirit) for high damage or Fuse-Ushi (11 Spirit) to be even more tanky.

I will leave this comment. I still stand by my statement. But agree with all else's comments. This build is a solid dps build ...WHICH can one hit alot of enemies, which is very nice however ... It isnt the (just guessing) Guts or Gatsu build Think some are looking for! Nioh bosses have crazy HP.

I think samurai did use axes, but I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert.
