'Breed' An early recording of the song. Recorded at Smart Studios, 4/1990. Originally titled 'Imodium', this version has a much heavier overall sound to the one eventually featured on 'Nevermind'. It is said to have been originally written about Tad Doyle's (lead singer of fellow Washington band 'Tad') diarrhoea whilst on an early tour with Nirvana. Most of these have been converted from lossless audio .FLAC files.

Yeah, it has its strengths. The album version is great, though. It has a lot more momentum and that fuzz tone on noveselic's bass is just incredible. Like everything else on Nevermind, it's candy-coated and polished to the max, which I love.

@@jamesbarker7788 GTFO of here! Grohl came up in the D.C. Hardcore scene. He was a beast on the drums. Channing was ok, but not great. A much less experienced and energetic drummer. Without Grohl, Nevermind would never have blown up. He brought the momentum that gave the songs that hardcore edge that appealed to so many people coming from the punk and hardcore scene. His intro on Teen Spirit is legendary and, along with the opening guitar riff, is what really broke the song and the band out. Channing could never have pulled off what Grohl brought to Nevermind.

@@elizaely5428 This is definitely not true at all. Sure it's important, but it's way more about feel and groove than just timing. Just look at John Bonham or Dave Lombardo, they were known for having pretty inconsistent timing, yet it somehow worked very well for the music, and kept it feeling human. Chad sounded fine, I see drumming more as something to keep the band together, and not a bunch of counting to keep things perfect
