By far, my favorite Nirvana video. Probably because I know the locations so well. But I really prefer this version. It even has the apartment on Pear Street in Olympia.

It’s crazy how a different drummer can change the vibe of a song. Both Dave and Chad have an interesting and unique twist on the song that is cool to hear

The layered vocals that Butch added and Daves drumming make it top-notch!

Many don't know this "alternate version" was meant for a unreleased album in 1990, this was the first single to that album

It pisses me off that the rock n roll hall of fame didn't include and induct Chad Channing with Kurt, Dave and Krist. Chad was in the band during the time they had to work the hardest. Being crammed in a van touring the country with no money, etc. He was there for the toughest times helping the band make a name for themselves. Who cares if he only played on one album, his contribution went beyond that.

I still remember when this video / 1st version of In Bloom came out on Muchmusic, months before Nevermind was released. It was my first impression of Nirvana when I was like 9 and loved them immediately

This was the version I grew used to as a kid, MTV2 in the UK used to play this version all the time. I heard the released version after it, so I naturally gravitate towards this one.

Kurt really nailed the solo in the later version. As simple as it was I always thought it was freakin brilliant.

So unique how Kurt has these overtones in his voice. Yes, reverb, delay, and double tracking adds to it, but there is more to it. He may not have been much of a technical singer (and no doubt a lot of that was deliberate), but the timbre and overtones of his voice are just unmatched.

This has been on KZfaq over 15 years and I'm *just* seeing this lol. Excellent take on a quintessential Nirvana hit, I like how stripped down it is, with Kurt's raw vocals shining through in the mix. It really boils the track down to its essence to hear this after being only familiar with the Nevermind version.

I just heard this version for the first time last week (at age 61) and I had to track it down. It was on a local radio station, the last place I would ever expect to play it. Maybe there is hope. 🤞

Kudos to Chad for his amazing drum inspiration, and kudos to Dave for aknowledging that, paying his respects and play the parts almost the same and more powerful!

I'm 42 as i write this in 2024. I remember when this song was released in 1991. That was 33 years ago. In 1991, 33 years ago (33 years before 1991) was 1958. That is insane. Basically the official video of this song is supposed to take place around 1958. So kids today are as far away to 1991 as I was to as a kid to 1958. 1991 is their 1958. So crazy to think about.

Who remembers the days before youtube and MTV would play this video once in a blue moon. And your eyes were glued to the tv because you got to see a rare snapshot of Nirvana before they were big. And when this video came on it was like gold. I used to have a vhs recording of this video because there was no way I was going to not record this video because you didn't know if you were going to get to see it again. That's kind of how it was with all the Nirvana videos for me. I had to preserve these gems and savor it because it was some of the last great music we had. It's timeless. I can't say that about really anything else that came after Nirvana. Oh and live recordings of Nirvana gigs before they were big, before youtube....no way! It wasn't available until youtube unless you had bootlegs or something. I didn't have those. So I never saw old Nirvana live shows until youtube and before that there were only photography in books. But that's kind of what made those times special. Today things are too accessible and therefore it doesn't have that same magic.

Nevermind made me discover Nirvana but Bleach made me love it for more than 26 years and it will always be THE album that I associate with grunge music.
