The thing I loved about Kurt was he brought attention to real serious issues “Polly” was about a girl who was kidnapped.. “Rape Me” was about bringing attention to Rape.. Frances Farmer was about that poor actress who was treated horribly by Hollywood..Mental issues… Depression… Drug addiction.. that’s what Nirvana stands for me ❤

Come As You Are was the first riff I learned to play on guitar. Nevermind is an all time classic. This album put the entire music world on notice and it did it fast. Album came out in September 91 and by the end of the year it was #1 on the Billboard charts knocking off Michael Jackson. Tremendous.

nirvana as a band is iconic, kurt seemed to transcend music and he was universally loved alot of people said he was a whiner but thats not true he was just suffering with terrible mental health problem and heroin addiction, plus being in the biggest band of the time and becoming a father for the 1st time, he was under enormous pressure and its just a damn shame what happened in the end! my go to thing when im chilling and having a few beers is watching mtv unplugged with nirvana, its just so amazing and has a great chilled out vibe to it :) RIP KURT LONG LIVE NIRVANA

One of my greatest regrets in life is returning this album a day after buying it because I didn’t get it. I just wasn’t ready for one of the greatest game changing albums ever. Like Joey says sometimes it takes time for music to grow on you, especially when it’s revolutionary. No band has shaken up the music industry in the same way since Nirvana.

When this album came out I was 21 and I had hair down to my back years since high school . Me and my girlfriend who was my high school sweetheart just broke up and I was heartbroken and really needing a change. Nirvana for me was like a breath of fresh air and I liked it from the start for that reason . It was different and helped get me through a real tough time . Thank you Nirvana 🙂

Found myself smack-dab in the middle of the scene in ‘92. Drove up to Seattle from Huntington Beach to apply for crab boats in my early 20s. A friend hooked me up with some surfers she grew up with in San Diego. Crashed on their couch for a week while applying for boats. They were also musicians and opened up for all the big Seattle bands. They took me out every night to see live bands. The week was up and The crab boat thing kind of fell by the wayside and they asked me to stay and be their permanent roommate. Crazy way to start a new life in a new town but I fell in love with Seattle. Ended up in the outer nucleus of that whole music scene. Seattle was magical in the early 90s. You could feel it in the air. It was a time and a place.

You can definitely hear the influence of the Pixies in this album, particularly in songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit and Territorial Pissings (which you called terrestrial pissings haha). Kurt Cobain literally said that Smells Like Teen Spirit was Nirvana trying to imitate a Pixies song. If you haven't listened to the Pixies, give the record Doolittle (or Trompe Le Monde) a spin. Hell, they even do a couple of songs in Spanish in their first album Come on Pilgrim. Love you Uncle Joey! Keep doing what you do!
