A simple comedy on the surface, but one of the most hilarious and densely packed shows on television at the moment from co-creators Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol. Everything they do in an episode seems to revolve around some pop culture reference and this is my video of capturing them all from the series so far.

Nirvanna the Band the Show is a Canadian mockumentary television series based on the web series of the same name, created by and starring Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol. It follows two best friends who devise a number of schemes in the hopes of achieving their life's goal: getting their band booked to play a show at a rock club known as the Rivoli.

love how they just decided to put one singular just straight-up stolen shot from My Dinner with Andre of the subway doors closing. I know they did that quite a few times with quite a few different things but that one is just so odd and so *at odds* with what you're actually seeing in the rest of the scene, like in one singular shot the subway is suddenly mostly vacant and covered in graffiti but I never noticed it until it was pointed out in this video.

Yeah I noticed it watching this video as well. Its done so seamlessly and its something you would probably only notice if you've seen My Dinner with Andre. The fact that they use the exact shot from the movie makes me chuckle though.

This is awesome but I think you forgot my favourite one.. besides the Hackers one. The reference to a popular Canadian PSA from the 90’s where they play He Ain’t Heavy by The Hollies and hugged. It’s at the end of the Doubtfire episode I’m pretty sure.

Have you seen the PSA? It was huge when I was a kid and it was a pretty emotional commercial that stuck with me and I’m sure many others including Jay and Matt. When they referenced it my mind was blown. Haha search he ain’t heavy Canadian psa or something on KZfaq

Hi, annoying bore with no friends here checking in to say that the footage of Iori's laugh starting from 14:51 is from King of Fighters '98, not '96. He does the same animation and laugh in pretty much every game he's in though. Thanks for the supercut!

I'm not saying any one interpretation invalidates the other, but the choice between otherwise identical White Hat or Black Hat before making a conscious evil choice with reverb-y piano at 15:15 seems pretty clearly a reference to William in "Westworld" (HBO series). You're doing God's work here.

Motion In Art WW season one ended almost a year before NTBTS season 2 premiered and has identical music and placement of the two identical white/black hat options so I think it’s a safe bet
