Matt Johnson has got to be one of the smartest and most creative guys in the industry right now. I love listening to him talk. It's especially hilarious in contrast his his character in NtBtS where he's a bumbling idiot, and then you see how he actually is and all the great stuff he has to say.

It's the constant struggle, right? Like, guaranteed funding means you can theoretically make anything because the money is there. But it also removes any incentive from people apathetic to art to even pretend to care. Entirely commercially funded art is limited by what business people are willing to fund, which by their nature is the lowest risk stuff with the highest potential return on investment. But, they are sometimes incentivized to fund creative risks for a potential economic edge on the competition. Ups and downs to both, but I feel like countries with arts funding get a healthier mix of the two extremes.
