Nissan Ariya is Nissan’s second mass-market electric model. Will it prove to be just as important as the Leaf, and will it win back the bestselling EV title from tesla Model 3?

Your reviews are far more incisive and practical than the usual reviewers getting over-excited by design gimmicks. Who else notices the problem of taking out floor mats without spilling the muck everywhere? (And in a Peugeot 208 you get a nice wack on the head from the stylish pointy corner on the dashboard, into the bargain).

It's a bit strange how few electric models Nissan has given how they got into the electric car game early. I quite like some of the design details they've included in the Ariya. I hope it does well enough to encourage them to be a bit braver with their interior designs in their other cars.

Pretty much just like you I was pleasantly surprised with Ariya, but upon closer inspection I realized that everything was only surface deep, and all of the cost cutting and unfinished work became painfully obvious. Nice, detailed review as we've come to expect. Keep it up 👍

Ouch! Your review is by far the best one I saw on Ariya. And you are correct; almost the entire focus is on gadgets that are there for the sake of being there. With Tesla Model Y starting at 55k in Germany, Ariya will be reserved only for people who REALY want it. :)

Oh dear, lot's of false info in here. There is route AND charging stop planning, there is charger status info, Ariya can precondition the battery without the need to be navigating towards a charger which is the way better solution anyways - you just turn it on and that's it. Etc.etc.. If you do a review, please familiarize yourself with the car first mate, otherwise you are just wasting other peoples time.

I sat in one - felt upmarket compared with VW's id4 and even the Tesla Y, but it's a tough call to not go with a Y because you know, supercharging, (and my local Nissan dealer gives me the impression we're at the end of times).

I have no idea how to live with EV - just never had that experience. But Ariya is a good looking car, especially in this Dark Blue. From my point of view design language of Nissan is (how to say it softer)... questionable. But Ariya is pleasant to look at. P.S. Marek and Anna - I noticed that little symbol of sliding images on the bottom of the screen. Nice!

I nearly choked on my coffee about the autopilot 😂😂😂 hilarious. Nice car, I like technology but I hate those touch buttons. To complicated and distracting. I don’t get the sliding draw and centre console either. However I t is better looking than a Leaf but a hefty price tag for 4 wheel drive.

Let's compare Ariya vs. Tesla Model Y. Ariya: base trim priced at $43k (doesn't qualify for tax credit), 216 mile range, Rear Wheel Drive, 59 cubic feet space. Model Y base trim: priced $39k (after tax credit), 279 mile range, All Wheel Drive, 72 cubic feet space + great fast-charging experience for long-trips.

We test drove fastest and most expensive version of Ariya but it was so unresponsive and traction light came on. Then drove the Model Y Peformance and we were blown away by it's technology, performance, storage space (nearly 1000 litre over all, crazy) but the specs we want is Red exterior and white interior so the price was out of our budget, then we purcahsed a Model 3 Performance in this exact same spec. It's the fastest, best and cheapest to run car we ever bought. M3P is just amazing and hopefully we will get Model Y Performance or Model X P100D if we need bigger space in the future.

Ok here in Canada there are 6 trims. All with different names that have nothing to do with each other. Engage, Venture+, Evolve, Evolve+, Platinum+, and Premium... where's Platinum? Where Engage+, Premium+. Some are AWD others FWD, different ranges, different packages mixed up... none of the trims are related to each other.. LOL. Who thought up this insanity? Oh the car looks very nice esp in that dark blue but I can't figure out WTH comes with any of these trims!!!
@MarekDrivesENG
@MarekDrivesENG Жыл бұрын
I think it's so expensive here in Europe that it made no sense to offer too many trims, and only sell three of each :)
@kevinn1158
@kevinn1158 Жыл бұрын
@@MarekDrivesENG The strange thing is, the trim levels don't build on each other. It just looks like Nissan are late to the game and their pricing is aimed at a market of 3 yrs ago. Same price as a Model Y AWD long range. Which brings me to the Polestar 4 starting at 60k USD for a RWD base model. 10k more than a AWD Model Y??? Good luck with that Polestar. Polestar seem to be Porsche wannabes. OEMs just look like they are shooting in the dark not knowing what to do with Tesla.

For better or worse, no one can currently take the ev crown from Tesla. No one has their supply chains, streamlined manufacturing process or even profit margins. Maybe there are better cars that run on electricity than Tesla, but from pure EV perspective, they are far and above the competition. Their sales numbers speak of that. I personally bought Model Y, even though I dislike quite a few things, but sadly no one can touch them on performance, price and efficiency.

It’s an underwhelming overpriced blob. In the US market this makes no sense considering Tesla’s price cuts and that a Tesla model Y is the same price but gets an additional 7500 rebate while this does not. Why does this exist?

@chillout1109 Жыл бұрын
I see I'm not the only one who finds the Ariya rather disappointing. Nissan have been doing this for a very long time. With all the data and feedback they got in all this time they have been selling the Leaf, they should have blown the competition out of the woods with the Ariya. But instead, they bring this half baked product lacking any conviction. The electrically operated storage, the sliding centre console, the Japanese lantern patterns, the touch buttons integrated into the wood-like dashboard - these are all gimmicks that are not going to sell to anyone. Nissan have the experience and capability to produce an 800V platform with 250KW charging speed capability, propelled by powerful but efficient drive motors that could easily deliver 400+ miles of WLTP range. It's as if Nissan didn't really believe that this car would succeed. It's as if they simply produced an EV because they were pressured into doing so. Such half-hearted decisions from legacy makers is why Tesla is doing so well with their cars. It's because the legacy manufacturers are messing about instead of pooling their advantageous resources and decades of vehicle manufacturing experience and bring us some convincing EV products. The Nissan Ariya is unconvincing and disappointing. AND it's also very expensive for what it is, a fact that will not really help it that much either. I really wanted to like this car, and to buy one, when it was launched. But after having driven it quite a lot now via test drives and loaners, I have finally decided to buy a Skoda Enyaq IV 80 instead.
