This was a test conducted with a specially tuned and chassis prepped Nissan verses an off the shelf 911 Turbo that was not even equipped with a PDK. When all is said and done, there are no bragging rights to be had here.

Porsche GT3 is not a "drag race car" but a track car which is what all you clowns talk about when comparing Porsches and GTRs. The Porsche turbo is a luxury-want-to-be-Porsche meant for really, really rich old farts and is not an enthusiast car. You guys want to compare it to the GTR because the GTR can only compare to this "Porsche" but its the GT3 where all the race goodies are in and it shows by a racing pedigree that GTR can only dream about. Like experts say "In a REAL race track the Porsche GT3 will be 20 laps behind in the first hour but will finish first by the last lap" You don't have to like it, but the GT3 is supreme and that is the way it is. Nissan marketing has led people to believe a lot of stories. Nissan GTR building materials are sub-standard to Porsche (JD Power) and eventually we all get what we paid for!! Editorial.

Porsche GT3 is a track car, Turbo is a luxury drag race supercar. but GTR is either the track and drag race car.

***** Without batteries, it would be mindblowing. Its just too heavy. But remember, there is huge difference between few second in the top of the best times and in the back. Making faster time around 7 min means the car is much faster, than if it was 8 min.

I just can repeat my statement, look at the official times driven on the track, i think the cars who are in the ranking drove at same conditions... theres no way a porshe would beat the GTR on this track without additional tuning... So that's my opinion. ;-)

Drove mine hard in a city environment and lost 18K + tax (Down 30k - ouch) on resale after 10 month and 2+ weeks in the shop. I am assuming your comments come after have owned neither? Typical. GT-R is a good step in the right direction, but still a rice burner in every way. GT-R is good car to buy if you dont have the money nor patience to wait for the real thing. Every one I know who buys a GT-R sells it shortly thereafter and then buys something worth keeping long term. Good try Nissan.

Gtr come out 2007 at the time it was faster then the 911 turbo, f430,gallardo,and m3 it's moved the game on.if you've just bought a gtr and lost 20k in a year you've bought it knew and you should know thay loose money at the end of the day it's a Nissan.if you wanted to only keep it 10 month why didn't you buy second hand there only worth 30k and your not goibg loose much even if you are driving it like a dick.

because we purchase full warrantees, fresh starts and dont want someone else's problems. Same story with everybody who buys a GTR. Dont dare buy a used GTR. Then your doubly screwed. Feel sorry for the guy who bought mine. Not because I dogged it, but because it cant even come close to taking hard drives. It that not what its for?. Only car in the world with 3 waivers on sales slip. You think to yourself "aw no way it can be such a dog" you sign away and then drive away only to learn the dealership was not kidding. You get what you pay for. Then you get out of it as soon as you can and go find a car that holds up. You end up with a Porsche and realize it hold up to everything. Absolutely EVERYTHING. You can totally dog it until it wears you out. Only thing you start counting are the number of times you bounced curves and how they are eating your rims and side walls. You then come home and realize the Porsche was just warming up. Your GTR wont even hold up to a heavy foot. Screw the launches, under pass drifts or continuous braking. You quickly realize its a Nissan. You can burn out, over rev, drift and launch a Porsche on every single day of the year and when you take it to the dealer and tell them how you think you dogged it they laugh and remind you to change your oil. So why else would you ever consider buying any good car? To baby it? GTR is a piece of shit car unless your going to most drive it like your Moms Caddy. So I listen to you guys talk HP and the likes and what a great car a GTR is and what? You never even owned one. Otherwise you would know better,

It depends which generation of 911. The latest one (991) comes with four wheel steering, electric throttle and streeting and various traction control or torque vectorin systems. The GTR r35 was merely ahead of it's time when it was released in 2007. People call it a play station car but nowadays most super cars have similar electronics

***** I know very little about the "newer" models (as far as quality). I'm an independent mechanic and work on mostly models from the 90s to the early 2000s. Just sold my 97 BMW 328i convertible and bought a 96 M3 and a 99 BMW K1200RS (motorcycle). I work on a 94 Porsche 968 for a customer. He's currently getting a supercharger installed in southern California. Can't wait until he brings it back to see the HP gain. Of course he's doing all new upgrades to the sway bars and suspension I'll install when it gets back. I already did cross drilled rotors and steel braided brake lines.

Anthony Terrell Syntetic oil is better than the regular one and semi slics give more tracktion on a dry racetrack than the all weather regular tires. The Race mode setup disables the help assistence systems of the car wich are useless for a professional race driver like Patrick Simon and just slow the car down. ps l ve been in both and the GTR is bigger inside too and has more of a back seat & trunk that is usable .That makes quite an argument for the Nissan as well as price :) but boy is the 911 sexy looking :P

richard carr Are you saying that the rear seat in the GT-R can fit a 6" 250lb man? (I was under the impression that neither can fit anything over a 80lb 10y 5" girl in the back). Yes, the GT-R does have a real trunk vs a 2xcarry on in the front of the 911.
