Exceptional car 350hp (im guessing at the flywheel) is impressive for a 3.8 atmo engine. The vq has been tried and true for nissan for over 20yrs now and yet they seem to improve upon that same engine still.

Great video man! I own a 350z Nismo #1382 and I love the car. One day id love to import a 380rs to the USA and have both of the cars.

Some interesting comparisons you make... NSX Type R is a full aluminium mid-engined car, the RX-7 also aluminium and the STi or Evo are AWD. Good video regardless - thumbs up (didn't know this car existed).

When he says the sti or Evo Handel's better. Ur comparing a turbo charged 4 wheel drive car to a N/A rear wheel drive car.

I want one of these so bad, there's one for sale right now on this Japanese auction site I look at but it's 2007 so I can't even drive it in Canada yet, can't wait to find one in a few years.

@@andywu8558 I already own an 03 350z and it is an amazing car to drive, definitely not the fastest or lightest... but all around great and fun car to play with, that 380rs looks like a circuit monster.

The first 350z had 286 hp, the facelift version had 313hp with the 3.5l engine, now this has a bored out 3.8l race engine with forged internals and more, and only makes 350hp? I find that to be a low amount of gain for those kind of mods? Or is it just underrated from the factory as many japanese cars are? Great video, thumbs up and subbed!

Ok first of all, forged internals don't give you extra horsepower. They are meant to withstand the extra power from the higher displacement. Due to it being a race-car, it is going to spend a lot of time higher in the rev-range so forged internals guarantee the engine won't blow up. Second, the motor is heavily detuned for street use as per Nismo. The actual race-car makes 395+ bhp and 310+ lb ft of torque. Compare this to a Porsche GT3-RS which makes 500 bhp from an N/A 4.0L H6. Those are very good numbers for an N/A motor with that much displacement. The intake manifold, exhaust, air-fuel ratio, ignition timing, VTC and other specs were downgraded and optimized for street use. Honestly you could twin turbo this motor and make well over 850+ whp without worrying about internals, it's a tank lol.

It's detuned to be good for street driving. It makes 400 HP on it's race tune.
