As a fan from Australia, the first thing I thought when the Primera was shown in the pits was “Stephen Richard’s was involved in the development of that car back in the day. So it was pretty cool to hear he and Greg Murphy mentioned in the commentary of the race. They both did double time back in the day racing in V8 Supercars and super tourers at the same time.

This was my joint favourite touring car era due to the variety and competitiveness of the cars. I grew up with the fantastic racing of the cossie, beamer vauxhall era of Rouse, Soper Cleland et. al. BTCC almost died due to the withdrawal of manufacturers but seems to be making a decent comeback. Still muscling these old saloons around is still more entertaining. ❤

Beautifully constructed super tourers, many specialist parts manufactured for them. No silly hybrid/push to pass cr4p, whoever was the best driver/car combination won. Massive range of brands in that era, a golden age.
