My 2019 AWD took only one quart to do both front and rear. 10mm hex on all four plugs. Thanks for the video!

The plug on my rear diff was an SAE 3/8, not a 10MM. The 10MM was VERY loose. The 3/8 fit perfect. And when I changed the transfer case I hadn't watched any videos and have a TON of oil on the exhaust. It smells great when driving. hahaha...I cleaned up as much as I could but I'll be making many short drives to try to get that off before parking in the driveway again. Changing the CVT fluid was so stinking easy I think I'll be doing that quite often. I bought the car 48k miles ago and this was the first change for me. Not sure when anybody else changed it but it was DIRTY!

That's odd. Usually, Japanese cars use metric size only and should fit better. Good to know. Yeah, the oil on exhaust makes strong smells. It will be gone after a while. It happened on my daughter Homda Accord. So, I know hot it smells 😀 Thanks for sharing

One thing I do is when I am done pumping the oil quickly stick the tube in an empty container because it is going to run out of there soon. You won't lose a lot, just the stuff in the tube but it is a little bit thick and that can make it a little bit hard to clean it up.

great how to video. Do you use the same fluid for both transfer case and differential? would this apply to all Nissan vehicles regardless of year or model? Thanks

I changed the front on my 2017 Rogue Sport SV and it may be a different transfer case or just things laid out a little bit different. I was expecting it to be the same but it seems a little different. I am pleased that I did not have to cover the exhaust pipe on mine since the drain was not anywhere close to the exhaust. I have heard that in Japan my vehicle is known as the Qashqai. Also no, I did not drain any CVT fluid, it was a really small amount of oil much like what came out of yours. It also filled up really quick when pumping it in that front differential. Really the hardest part of the whole thing was just getting the plastic shield off the bottom of the vehicle. Of course the rear one was a lot simpler yet since all you really have to do is get under there with a pan to drain it into. Just remember on both of them to loosen the fill plug first so you are not stuck with empty differentials. If that does happen, get it towed to a shop it will be cheaper than the parts and labor to replace them!!

@@jw7268 If you take the drain plug out first and can't get the fill plug out, you won't be able to fill it back up, so that's why you take the fill plug out first.

So far I did my rear one and it already feels a little bit different. Like it is a little bit smoother. I will eventually do the front one. Does the vehicle need to be level or can I put it on ramps? I would plan to leave it on the ramps over night so the exhaust will be cool. Really if it was up a bit higher it feels like you could almost crawl under and do it but I am not sure I want to be under there squeezing a bottle pump. I used Liqui Moly 80w90 GL5 with no limited slip in it. I made sure I would not need it and then made sure the oil didn't have it. I know that the limited slip is sold as an additive too but I don't need it.

Thanks so much for the tips 👍, but I have never opened the fill plug when changing oil or fluid so far. My reason is to get slow oil/fluid flows when I drained it. Easy to control if the fluid/oil got spilled.

He is just saying you want to ALWAYS open the fill plug first to make sure you can put new oil back in. You can crack the fill plug and tighten it back hand tight if you want to. But if you drain the oil and then go to put new oil back in but you strip the fill plug or can’t get it off then you are screwed and can’t put new fluid back in

@@venkataramg5480 The diff and transfer case is a tad different from the transmission. I believe they use thicker fluid if I am not mistaken.
