Just wanted to say a heartfelt "Thank You" for your clear, concise and very informative 'how-to' videos. Especially those concerned with this particular car. I belong to a number of Nissan T30 X-trail groups, and am constantly referring other members to watch your videos when they need/want to know how to do particular jobs on their own vehicles. Your videos, information, sage advise and wisdom, are particularly welcome, pertinent and relevant now in 2022 with the cost of living being so high for so many. You've saved us, your viewers, thousands of pounds in maintenance costs. Not only that, but you've shown how to do the jobs properly and what to consider when doing such jobs. For many of us owning these cars, they are not just family wagons but also literal work-horses, because of their capacity and abilities, often substituting for vans or tow-trucks, etc. etc.... especially for those of us who are self-employed. Ironically, one of the reasons you are so popular, is because many Nissan Main Dealers/garages, appear to genuinely NOT want to deal with these cars, often citing that they (the cars) are too old, and seriously over charging for simple basic work such as this to put us off going to them. Yes, I know main dealers are traditionally more expensive, but what Nissan dealers charge, are expensive even by Main dealer standards. What's worse, many of the so-called technicians often know less about these cars than their customers!!! To give you an example, I once observed a technician spending about 20 minutes trying to locate the throttle body and DPF on a 07 reg, 2.2DCI T30... The UK spec cars from 2002 to 2007, with this engine, don't have them!!!... something I feel he should've known, given that he was a main dealer technician, and, especially because he would have been able to easily access such basic information from their workshop manuals!!

Thank you so kindly for this comment Andrew. I do try my best to put as much detail in and not to assume the viewer has prior experience. I think things are coming to a critical point in the automobile industry and things look rather bleak for us car owners now. I do wonder is the car manufacturers are over charging on purpose to assist in getting the cars of the road now. For example the timing belt on a 2018 Honda Civic with 1 litre engine is £1,599 to have changed and I believe you can't buy the parts or the tools to do the job yourself !!!! I can't help thinking they have done this on purpose so the 2nd or 3rd buyer refuses to pay such a price and then gambles that the belt will last but once it snaps that's another petrol car off the road and hopefully they buy electric. Keep hold of your car's while you can.

Keep up the good work. Your vid on the fuel filter made me smile. I too have an xtrail. When you change the pads you may have to educate the new pads with a little bit of grinding on the edges as all the new pads see slightly too big. Take care

I think they seem to perform pretty well especially with their fuel economy. Never gone off road in mine so can’t vouch for that side of things.

Thank you. Normally its once a year or every 12,000 miles roughly. Regular oil changes are always a good thing.

Thank you so much for the support Gaya. Ironically my OBD2 has just packed up so I'm looking at them myself. I'm understanding that over £500 gets you far more advanced scanners that will code components etc like if you bought a new ABS module that needed codding to the car but for most normal things I'm looking at either the Autel MD806 Pro or LAUNCH X431 CREADER. Hope this helps.

@@gayadom2394 I think the more you pay the more you can read so I'd probably see what others advise for your vehicle on google or on the amazon reviews. I think it's a bit of a hit and miss minefield. If you buy from amazon you can send it back if it doesn't read your car properly.

How quickly do you drive down the single lane roads

I don't normally but there was a bit of a story behind this drive. I was driving slowly with my camera's rolling when I got to a very remote spot (with no mobile signal) and I don't think the locals appreciated me out there in a 4x4 with camera's rolling and gave chase. I was actually driving as if my life depended on it back to civilisation. I feared they might have rammed me off the road. I later found out they have had some issues with strangers driving over their property in 4x4's not caring about the locals that live there so maybe they thought I was going to do the same and put the video online and encourage more 4x4's to trash their area. They tailed me for about 8 miles till I stopped at a public place and words were exchanged. I'm hoping it was just a misunderstanding. Wasn't a very pleasant experience so I sold the Nissan and bought a MINI instead lol When I started doing KZfaq I never imagined it could be such a high risk job !!!

@@CoatsandGaiters so they have a problem with people who drive 4x4's because if you ask me the xtrail is just a softroader Edit after actually understanding you Makes sense i mean id cruise as well if i was being tailed

@@CoatsandGaiters haha I have a t30 xtrail just like that but mines the 2lt petrol with a qr20 engine and i got oil in the cylinders that went in from the plug wells that were drenched in oil so my coils are alright and i was wondering would that oil (and theres quite a bit) restrict the engine from firing up again i removed the plugs and they were pretty good so i dried them of oil can i reuse those plugs

@@khaliphilemoyo607 I'd personally try to syringe the oil out with a syringe and some clear tubing, clean the plugs with a bit of solvent and then fire it up. Might be a bit of blue smoke till it clears a bit, or turn the engine over without the plug in and cover the plug wells with tissue to catch some of the oil spitting out and hopefully the oil might work back down into the sump with the pistons going up and down. Ideally I'd suck the excess oil out if I could with clear tubing.
