Hi, greetings from Chile. I have a '09 Pathfinder with egr and no dpf (I believe that dpf comes in the facelift); first it poke a hole on the lowest point of the piston crown and then through the side of the piston, 4 new pistons and rings later and after a couple of days it broke the shaft of the turbo (it made a horrible noise and black exhaust). Later we found that the oil line for the turbo was leaking and assume that the turbo started to fail when the hole was created. After installing a brand new turbo from a Navara, code EB70A, (the turbo code for the pathfinder is EB300), we found that the low oil pressure light turned on when stationary (ie. traffic lights), and then turbo started to make some noise; further inspection we found out that it was leaking from the valve cover, the turbo feed line was dry and the turbo noise came from oil starvation (the shaft was a bit loose and some sratchs on the housing, as well as the engine connecting rod bearings that had some excesive wear (apparently because of oil starvation) I have some suspects Oil pump (I saw on internet that the gears inside of it start to wear), Inyectors (I would like to ultrasound cleaning them, and testing on a bench; is that reccomendable?) Engine temperature (because it has an electrical fan, the operating engine temperature is lower than the middle of the temp gauge), but I believe this problem is for yd25's with dpf, Am I right? What are your opinions on the suspects, what I also found in the several oil changes, it was that in all of them it came thin oil. Thank you very much. I like the channel

I brought a max speed rods turbo for my 2006 pathfinder not problems so far, but when installing we had to machine the oil feed pipe to fit on the turbo flange because the turbo was bot machined right and no matter what we did we couldn't get a flush seal, in the end we got it as best we could ,it still has a slow leak very slow like very slow haha. But the turbo performs well.

You can reprogramme deletes back into an ECU (at least with Nissans) I had a J10 come in with a sluggish engine but no codes stored. Had a look round the engine bay and the EGR connector was taped up and disconnected. Seeing as this didn't bring any codes I figured it could have had a remap. I checked for any updates and found an ECM update available, did the update and it brought up EGR open circuit and P2002 for a blocked DPF. Turns out the car had been remapped and had the EGR and DPF deleted from the ECM which meant the car didn't regen and blocked the DPF causing lack of power. We've had a couple of instances where J10's have come in for the engine update recall but have previously been remapped causing a whole load of grief when we then tell the customer that the update has allowed the ECU to recognise faults with their car and is keeping the EML on. I can see why they get frustrated, to them there was nothing wrong before and now they need hundreds or possibly thousands of pounds worth of work done just because they came in for a free update. Gotta love recalls on old cars.🙄😒

Have you had anything to do with the stx 550? Looking at ugrading my stx and the v6 diesel is very tempting. The engine is the v9x and its paired the a 7 speed auto.

Oil supply is the biggest killer, be it lack of oil, dirty oil, or diluted oil. I have had turbos last 20 years of proper hard use on a well maintained engine.

Hi Des, thanks for all the knowledge shared so far, but I'm stuck with a problem again, had my turbo overhauled, re-installed it, boosts fine drives fine but I'm getting pressure build up in my cooling system which has been blead multiple times. Any thoughts on what the issue could be, I don't have any bubbles in my coolant and no smoke at all, I am completely stumped.

Hey guys my name is Rick from Australia just out of Melbourne and watch your videos all the time and I've got a 2010 D40 with no boost and lots of black smoke and I've done a EGR block checked and cleaned the EGR and replaced the boost solenoid with a genuine nissan one and only a slight change, revs quicker but still no boost no power if your pulling out on the highway you have to make sure you leave heaps of room to get to a 100klms, also checked all vacuum lines and I did the squeeze test with my wife giving it a big rev and it sucks the hose flat? I'm not really up there with diesels so any help would be much appreciated cheers guys

I've got a 2009 4x4 D40 auto,, 120,000km odo at purchase,, I'm the 2nd owner,,I get it serviced every 5,000km,, original engine shit it's self at 198,000km odo,,,got a second hand engine with 172,600km odo fitted, now getting to 220,000 km odo today starting to see vapour Fumes coming out the dipstick tube,,, just wondering what other engine brand can be fitted?? Because this D40 engine's are lemons & making me sick in the guts!

Why does my 2018 Nissan Navara lose power and shuts down? Is it my turbo system or what? After I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting the battery its ok until it trips a circuit...not sure what the problem is..thanks for your response 👍
