Clearly you have no idea what the ranch truly is. You didn’t even watch all the episodes so where is your ethos? You don’t like needless cliffhangers? Clearly you have no appreciation for cinema. Cliffhangers need to be used at all times. I wish there was 2 cliffhangers in every episode. You don’t think there’s artistry? You’re wrong. The dull colors and poorly shot scenes are used for a more realistic effect. It’s also a throwback to the great dust bowl in America that ruined the lives of many farmers and ranchers. Just as these characters constantly ruin their lives because they can’t control their hormones. If you had only read up on this show you might have seen that even Steven Spielberg thought it was amazing (probably why they won countless awards). It definitely has nothing to do with the fact that Aston Kutcher and Steven Spielberg are secretly lovers. Have you ever wondered what kind of sounds they make while they make love? I have. Often. What was I saying?

I have never heard someone with a British accent say the word "ranch" and honestly, this is probably the equivalent of listening to Americans gleefully repeat "tea and crumpets" over and over ad nauseum, I finally understand.

Yeah Americans love to stand around saying tea and crumpets, it’s a huge pastime. Out of all the many English accents we parody that one nonstop. We’re just obsessed with them and they clearly matter a great deal to us and our ability to do the relatively recently invented posh English accent well is paramount. We just have to get right that one out of dozens of accents from that country the size of a smaller state in America.

@c d Well Fuller House at least had nostalgia going for it. It's a cash grab but it's got a purpose like he said. From what it sounds like this really doesn't have anything. It's a bland low budget cookie cutter sitcom. Fuller House is like a corporation selling you cookies like mom used to make only they taste bad and nothing like what mom used to make but you still end up remembering better times while you throw them out. The Ranch is like Cookie brand cookies in a plain white packaging the shape of every other cookie package. Simply labeled cookies, they look bland, they smell bland, they taste bland. The only thing they do is fill your stomach (take up your time) and you forget about them in the cupboard if you're lucky.

It's kind of like a sitcom, without the com, leaving you to just watch the sit which is trying to invoke drama at every turn, then kicks you in the teeth for being invested by attempting the com again. It's like it deliberately wants to berate you for attempting to find one thing you like by switching gears into something else entirely which doesn't fit or indeed flow. And the delivery...oh gods, the delivery... quickfire wit delivered at quarter speed. It required canned laughter just so we'd know something was meant to be funny. Even then it wasn't. The whole thing would have been better as simply a drama. I wouldn't have watched it, but at least it would have concentrated on one thing instead of failing at several. I'm sure some people enjoyed it, but as a Brit who enjoys comedy such as IT Crowd, Black Adder, That 70's Show and Brookyln Nine Nine to name a few, it was about as interesting as watching paint dry. Beige paint. That dries very slowly. In a beige room. Beige.

Scrubs was one of the first American sitcoms to do away with the laugh track and move to a single-camera setup and was critically acclaimed for most of its run. Boiling its influence down to 'it had a voice over' is giving it way too little credit. Also, I don't see the characters in Friends having become less stereotypical over time at all, in fact the flanderization in later seasons was pretty rampant. If anything, it was a return to sitcom norms years after Seinfeld turned the format on its head and paved the way for Chuck Lorre style garbage that would dominate the genre for many years after

I actually don't mind The Ranch. I even like it at times. I really don't know why. I wasn't expecting to like it because I'm usually not into really anything the show offers, but I do. I think you're being just an once too harsh on this. Like... 13 Reasons Why exists. So no, this is far from the worst. The Ranch is many miles away from any kind of form of art, but it's not really hurting anyone. (I don't think.) As someone who can (not super proudly) say that they've seen every episode, you're pretty on point. I just think you just expected a little too much from something that was put out by Ashton Kutcher and Netflix of all things. It is the way it is I guess.

I was amazingly dissapointed too...I mean, Sam Elliott! He's not bad, at all!! And...apparently he really needs the money, and he knew he looked the part, some... some easy money...I tried to watch it because of him (I HATE Aston Kutcher, and most sitcoms), but, TBH, I didn't get past the 6 minute mark...And though I respect him and like him, I get the feeling he didn't even tried to play his character right....How could he? it's ...it's one or THE worst show I've seen...ever

John Doe while true, and by the way nice use of google to buttress your argument, language evolves and terms are used for many things that differ from their latin root word origin. We arent speaking latin anyway so relying on it as a hard and fast rule is pointless. Masturbation also has many varying colloqiualisms and joking terms used to describe it. Besides, nowhere in netflix and chill does it say intercourse. Youre talking about an assumption or supposition. Which can mean many things for different people. Maybe for him netflix and chill means just watching netflix and sitting on his ass. For someone relying on an urban dictionary youre being quite literal. Besides, I was kidding. Relax.

John Doe personally I consider my penis to be my best friend. Another entity with a mind all his own. So masturbation is essentially a mutual act. Half the time hes the one telling me when its time to act. Maybe the mind and the body could be considered working "together" or mutually.

I would argue Colt actually does grow as a character. He goes from a selfish prick to a loving husband and hard worker who wants to provide for his family. I actually liked the show in the beginning, but it fizzled quick for me. Like making Maggie use the F worr felt really contrived and out of place for me. It was really fun to see Kutcher and Masterson back together for like 5 episodes, until I realized that they were both just rehashing their That 70s Show characters altered just enough. Kutcher's character here is easily as dumb as Kelso was there, and Mastrson is a lifer alcoholic, while Hyde just smoked himself stupid. Didnt pick it back up after the 1st season.

The Ranch was an interesting idea, but it was very flawed. The characters (well, mostly Colt) kept doing and saying stupid things. It felt like very forced drama. And the set was awful. Half of the scenes were just outside on the porch, but it was so obviously inside a studio. They never filmed outdoors scenes to make it feel like they were on a real farm. One good thing was Elisha Cuthbert just because she is pretty. And the relationship between the father and his new girlfriend was pretty convincing. Edit: nearly forgot about Heather (Kelli Ross); very sexy!

They have a laugh track.like why they don't use it in any smart ways. Btw how is a laughtrack realistic also all there plots never really ce together. As well the only decent characters are the dad in his stoic n can be funny and Masterson. Bt it's from the point of view from the most charmless ass of a character it makes the show so dull. Like if he died I wouldn't feel.bad he's a dick to everyone and never really Evolves or Learns. He has no ethos. The dialogue sounds like it's written by cookie cutter execs it doesn't go into any real issues on farm life it's just where they are also all the Obama jokes are soooo lame they don't have any edge if ur gonna tear into something go in. My husband loves it bt he grew up in that kind of Midwestern life style bt I think it's nostalgia just another brand of Make America Great Again. Like no it's a mess of a shyte show. Btw 13 reasons is shyte bt at least you can find some entertainment if just making fun or analyzing the stupidity of these millennial characters bt this show is white bread with mayo bland

Okay, so here’s my take on it. The Ranch is junk food. It offers little to no artistic value at all. It’s jokes are hit and miss, and even the actually good jokes are undercut by the annoying laugh track. The multicam setup is an automatic detriment to any attempt at conveying drama. It never really attempts any jabs at a thematic core, and lacks big ideas. But that’s not to say that there isn’t stuff to be enjoyed. Sam Elliott is a goddamn national treasure, and when Debra Winger grabs the controls and disabled her acting auto-pilot, you’ll remember why she has 3 Oscar nominations. The jokes that do land are a riot. The chemistry between the actors is palpable (except there’s also Lou Diamond Phillips). I’d probably love the show if they had the balls and/or the cash to shoot it on location instead of a sound stage.

Jessica Jones Season 1 was horrible. They took a semi engaging story with great characters and then decided to place a horribly bad antagonist in to ruin everything. Like come on, a mind controlling villain is literally omnipotent, there's no way the writers could finish that better. Season 2 was great at first, showing off the great characters and an interesting villain with a overlying plot I really got into. But it really should've ended at episode 10. The stretch of the episodes forced the writers to make good characters annoying, like Malcolm or the lawyer. It also made Jessica a full on criminal for very little reason. If they stopped at episode 10, then I would've really loved season 2, but the last 4 episodes made it just very mediocre. And the reveal of the villains true identity wasnt a surprise at all. In conclusion, Jessica Jones isn't a Daredevil, but there were 10 episodes of season 2 which places it above the other marvel trash, and the characters are amazing nearly throughout (seriously fuck the ending for Jessica Jones Season 2 that shit was trash - but I'm not going to lie the last episode wasn't that bad and brought in some interesting ethics - still not enough to redeem the other ones). But there's so much more enjoyment to be found in other Netflix originals, like Godless or OA or Black Mirror that Marvel is just boring in comparison. They've lost the momentum of Daredevil and really couldn't make an entire universe from it. While Jessica Jones always starts great, they can never land the ending.

I have pretty much the opposite opinion. Kilgrave was by far the best part of season 1, thanks in no small part to David Tennant. I think that antagonists have to be threatening, make the audience want the protagonist to overcome them, and have an understandable motive or psychology. Kilgrave absolutely nails the first two - better than any other Marvel villain - and is less strong on the third, but by no means weak. As for season 2, I really enjoyed the character arcs for Malcolm and Hogarth (lawyer). I don't think they did anything that sabotaged their already-established characters, unlike Trish who they threw under a bus. I also can't imagine why you think that Jessica became a criminal "for very little reason." Think about it: what are the two greatest traumas in her life? Losing her family and Kilgrave. There are deep psychological wounds there. Jessica was unstable from the beginning, so what do you think would happen when those wounds are reopened? That she'd actually follow the law despite the fact that she constantly breaks it even under normal circumstances? Basically I think you don't appreciate the strengths of the show nor do you understand Jessica's character so it makes sense you wouldn't like it.

Chad Thundercock I really loved Jessica Jones (season 1 and 2). I won’t go into countering your points since someone else already basically said everything I would, but I find it extremely annoying that people don’t like Jessica Jones because of the lack of action. People also say it’s way too serious and gets uncomfortable, but if a show makes you feel or think about something serious or something that makes you uncomfortable, I think that the shows doing a good job. It’s way more different than the action every 10 minutes thing the other Marvel shows like Luke Cage and Iron Fist had (hate them both, honestly. I really like Luke Cage until they killed the villain and replaced him). It was something new, and if she didn’t brake a doors lock every now and then you’d forget she had powers. That’s what I loved about Jessica Jones, it didn’t entirely feel like a superhero show.

I watched the first episode with my wife and the whole time I was saying "Laugh track" a few seconds prior to almost everyone.

No *family matters or Fresh Prince reference for awesome sitcoms?* They were far better than Friends IMO. Friends often put me to sleep. *Bernie Mac was good too.* ✨👍

ai i I think the reason you don't like Friends is because you're probably just watching it on Nick At Nite without having any clue what's going on. You have to binge watch it.
