Finally got the opportunity to put my S10 on the hub dyno at Joe Simpsons shop. Learned a lot of great information through the session and I hope it helps my fellow DIY guys out in the car community.
Motor setup :
400 CID SHP Block
Solid street cam 640 / 610 lift
Super Vic 2 intake
AFR 210 cylinder heads
Holley XP E85 Carb
11.5 static compression
Hooker Hustler race headers 1 and 7/8 3.5 collector

Those were some awesome runs! Almost 800 ft lbs of torque with a 400 is incredible! Great job and looking forward to seeing Mr Sparkles going down the track.

Man I love this truck your doing a great job turning your truck I know you got a bunch of time and money tied up in it I think for a 400 cubic inch motor 660 or 670 is great I wouldn't listen to people without seeing what they have on nitrous and how much horse power they are making people can say anything. I would stay in the safe zone and be happy with the horse power it's making and keep it together. I don't know crap about nitrous but would love for you to set up my big block with it my rings are already gapped for it. Thanks for the video. Your friend from Louisiana Rick 427

Awesome video and thanks for the data. I build E85 Harleys and adding nitrous to one of them for this season. Your methods and willingness to put the info out there really says a lot. I'm a new follower and not sure if you drink but i owe you a beer and a big thank you. Im in Ohio and if you ever want to stop by let me know haha I have a dyno in my garage and we can make some noise . Thanks again man.

Biggest issues we had on Chris car, last time on dyno, was blowing through the converter, we had it tightened up and it made a big difference.

If the converter was too loose at that power level, then a lot of those changes with timing, jet etc probably will not show correctly.

Then what about the timing strap on the plug? Would you run your motor on the edge just for two more degrees of timing?

@@TPVPRO Absolutely not. When I said show correctly I meant that the HP would not show much with those changes.

Well done, I found the exactly same as you in regards to timing & fuel. You need to change the stator in your convertor then you dyno power will increase, you are flashing paste you peak with nitrous.

Hub dyno makes all the difference and I think it's the best way to dyno a car .....

That truck is a freaking monster the torque it makes is crazy I love mr. Sparkles bad ass street truck that will run a 9.90 with ease.

Look at that torque. Very helpful information. That's a stout Lt1 you have there. That S-10 will hurt some modern muscle car feelings 😎

It's actually a Gen1 SBC the LT1 is on the stand as a backup motor.

I guessed your race weight w/ driver at 3150# 9.78 @138 mph. Unless your lighter than this it’s going to be hard to go faster without spraying more nitrous. I’d love to see it run a 9.50!!! 👍

I'm not running it in the 1/4 any more. Ran a 9.70 @ 139 on gas and N2o with a 3.89 I have a 4.30 in it now.

I just checked back I had a 73 N jet in with gas on that 9.7 run. But that plate also has a different jetting scale. 70 was a 150.

Do you think a 60 over lt1 with good bores and pistons is worth putting back together with new bearings and rings? Rods and mains need center hone and crank needs a grind and polish…

Could the heads Be holding you back? I think your heads csa is small for what you’re trying to do ,Get some porting done or 245? Aren’t those 200 cc?

AFR 210's on a street 400ci will make good overall power. If you were going more max effort I'd go bigger. I only have AFR 227's on my 421 and NA it runs 6.20's in the 1/8 on pump e85 at 3200lb race weight

We talked about situations like you are explaining. He has so much going on being a one man show and unfortunately he gets overwhelmed. I live 5 min away and swing through to chat from time to time. I got lucky this day, another customer cancelled and the ⭐ s aligned perfectly to get in.

It’s probably been every bit of 6 months since I’ve been able to take in a new appointment for tuning that wasn’t for another shop i tune for, returning customer, or a dyno rental. Good friend of mines car has been sitting in my shop for 3 months untouched because i can’t even get that on the dyno. Thinking this has anything to do with KZfaq is absurd. If you want to rent the dyno, i can usually get you in pretty quick. If you want me to tune it, it’s going to be a while. I spend 3/4 of my day saying that over and over and over again. It’s overwhelmingly exhausting and frustrating.
