Agreed But Ironing Nitrous out is a Blast and a skill not many have , even in Nhra Classes Nitrous RULES over Turbos and Blowers But Defiantly needs the 1000% dedication to getting it perfect and consistent, ive done 100 , 200 and 300 hp shots and the torque seems to be BRUTAL vrs Blowers and Turbos and way less affected by atmospheric conditions changes. I think im going to get Serious and Move to 2 or 3 Systems !

@@MrR6guy All turbos are multiplication of atmospheric conditions. They are effected drastically by atmosphere . I have a sbc 383 with a s488 and a compound turbo cummins . Every winter especially in my truck that makes 110 psi I make allot more power use more fuel . In the summer in humid conditions I drop power . You can feel the huge difference. Turbo charging is just and dedicated. You want to feel brutal tq. Come drive a hopped up diesel. Double the tq vs hp. My trucks between 900 and 1000hp and double the tq . In a vechile that is still dailly driven that's insane.

Nitrous is only rough on engines if your ring gap isn't set properly and if you're just using a simple button or RPM trigger to have the hit all at once. With progressive nitrous controllers, you can have an extremely wide power band. They have an older nitrous video where they prove its far more gentle on the engine when a progressive controller controls flow than just using a button. They also prove that setting ring gap for the maximum shot you're going to use is important, because they broke ring lands on a few cylinders. Even better with those progressive controllers, is that not only can you tune the nitrous flow, but also fuel flow so that you maximize the performance gain and not wash your cylinders out. Generally speaking on OEM engines, you can get away with running as much as a 100-125shot before needing to start opening up the ring gap by a few thou.

I had a 2007 Triumph Rocket 3 and got the bright idea to run a dry 50 shot. I had a tune boy and wired a momentary switch on the handle right handle bar. I was running 70mph when I hit it. I watched the RPMs scream up while the mph dropped down. Seriously confused I let off the throttle and the rear end snaps back straight. My buddy following me watched as I laid a 100 foot patch in the road. Dropped tire pressure and did a wheelie at 90 on a 700+ lb bike. Good times!!!

...as dangerous it is to drop and crack off the valve, I've always been surprised that nitrous bottles don't have the valve cap protection that other 'rocket capable' bottles have like say an O2 bottle (mind it does have more than twice the pressure) has...and it can't be a weight thing as you unscrew those caps when you have secured the bottle and are ready to plumb it...

Yea but that motor was built, how much nitrous can you run in a stock motor, like an LS or 5.0? I know you can get about 1000HP out of an LS with stock internals by boosting it but how much nitrous can those take? The 5.0 coyote question was more of a personal question as I’m thinking about putting nitrous on my 2015 mustang GT but I want to make sure I get the biggest shot possible without risking it blowing up which from what I’ve read online is about 100 or 150 shot.

What i like about nitrous is that you kinda have 2 cars in one. I can drive my car to work day to day with pretty good mpg and without having lots of engine wear. But with the push of a button it turns from a sporty naturally aspirated car into a race car. Only when I want to. A turbo, blower etc. on the other hand is always engaged and you always have a little more wear. I do get your point though, that’s just my opinion on this. It depends on the car really.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic but how is the vehicle going to run (street car) with the timing advanced when I'm not activating the juice. Do I have to change the timing back and fourth between "runs"? This kind of sound like deflating the tires for a street light run and then inflating when going to the store. I'll guess and say that Nitrous is just for the drag strip and not for light to light sprints.
@bure4me
@bure4me 2 жыл бұрын
Msd box can help by having a retarded function wires to the wide open throttle switch. That means timing can be pulled only when in use. Msd digital 6 is an example of a box that can do this.

Depends on the engine. Modern engines with modern ECUs can change the timing by the push of a button. Now make that the same button that you engage the nitrous with and you solved the problem.

@rotor13
@rotor13 Жыл бұрын
They recognized its running rich so they went back to using a different fuel jet because the plate they used maxed the nitrous flow and obviously gained more power. Bottle temperature coincides with pressure, as they stated at the beginning of the video. Hence why they mentioned bottle warmers which operate based on pressure - pressure too low, bottle warmer turns on until desired pressure is achieved. Even showed the dedicated bottle warmer they used for the video

Freiburger, You are confused about the fuel air ratio with nitrous. The extra fuel is added as a coolant. The manufacturers typically measure the exhaust temps and add extra fuel to bring the exhaust temps to normal when nitrous is applied. You don't need to tune the a/f ratio of the system.

I'm a bit surprised there is no consideration given to the spark plugs. My kit suggests 2 steps colder for a 250 capable setup.

My question is about purging before a run, why? Isn't that wasting the nitrous?
@Antiganos
@Antiganos 2 жыл бұрын
It clears the lines of anything "non-nitrous" which ensures that when you hit the fun button it's nothing but clean nitrous oxide and instant power. Sort of same philosophy as doing a burnout and "wasting" tire to ensure a quicker launch.

Another reason is that if Ur bottle pressure is too high for what ur tune up is u can purge it to lower the pressure, but mostly it's so u only have nitrous in the line

Here is another thing. If they would of switched the -4 fittings to -6 fittings, i bet you they would of gotten more power even out of the smaller jets they started with.

Wouldn't heating the bottle make more difference on a half full bottle?
@vipervidsgamingplus5723
@vipervidsgamingplus5723 2 жыл бұрын
Heating it raises the pressure, so lets say you have half a bottle heated and compare it to a bottle that is full without having been heated and the results would be similar. So to answer your question, yes and no.

Basic kit uses a wide open throttle switch or button. Whenever you floor it or press the button it could be on. I have raced a few time using n2o and typically launch around 2k off the foot brake. Stomp the gas and start the spray in my case.

@@bure4me unless you're built most advice is to spray above 3k. Lower than that can put strain on your rods.
