Hi Mr. Ticks, Lithium Ion batteries are made to give all the power they can for as long as they can then die real quickly. Look at a cordless drill works strong, works strong, works strong. Then the next time you pick it up not even a whirl noise from the motor. The battery needs recharging then back up to full power untill the battery gives all that it can and stops. It's hard to make a % meter that is really true for a Lithium Ion Battery ...

I'm not sure the Funfit, with all its capability, can actually 'talk' to the watch to pull things like heart rate over to your phone. It's a good start, but if you really need fitness data to work with on your phone, the Amazfit will be a better fit.

Wow, I wish I knew more about the screen technology, but I really don't know how to answer you on that. I can see the pixels with a magnifying glass on the D7 more than I can on a 1.3 inch 400x400 LEM5. The AMOLED looks brighter with more saturated colors, like a Samsung phone. The viewing angle is great on both, just eyeballing them from a side angle.

Oh my. I'm not really prepared to start comparing screens on all these watches. That's a factor I haven't been tracking. I'd suggest you look at the specs on both watches, and any others you want to compare, and find out the screen type and pixel dimensions. With knowing the diameter of the actual lit-up screen (not overall diameter of the watch from bezel edge to bezel edge) you can then calculate the pixel density. The higher the density, the sharper the screen and the less actual dots you will see.

Hi, read my review of yesterday (29 may 2017). I bought it for the long battery life and GPS outdoor functions. GPS does not work and battery life is worse (best till now without using apps, gps, bluetooth is about 8 hours).

I'm getting mixed (mostly bad) reports about the D7 battery life. Check the comments here to see what others are saying. I'm not as impressed with the D7 anymore because of several issues. You might want to hold off buying a bit until the newer long battery life watches come out.

Double check your memory by going into the File Manager app and seeing what it says for available memory. If it's 5+ GB, then you have 8GB in the watch. if it's only 1+GB then you have 4GB. The memory shown under settings is only the internal memory, not the total memory. Still, you're limited in the number and size of apps you can install by the is shown in the setting memory information. Hi, thank you for your response. I checked in the file manager and it shows 4.91GB as total memory. How will I know that it has 1GB RAM and and at least above 6GB of memory if this has a 8GB memory. Under settings it's exactly the same as you have shown in the review watch. And which is the best app for tethering, could you please let me know or should I stick with funfit. Update: To add to the disappointment, the watch stopped responding to the screen touch. It has become intermittent, as soon as unlock the watch using the button and try swiping it hangs within like 10 seconds for some reason. Was some how able to do a factory reset but nothing changed, it got stuck at the language selection screen, not responding to any touch input. Only thing that works is the button on and off. Any advise?

I like it, but I don't have time to wear any watch very much. I also like the SMA-TIME which has a similar display. It is less expensive. You might want to look at the review on that one as well. It's battery lasts much longer than the PACE, up to 30 days.

Were you impressed with the amount of time it took to drain the battery, compared to what you're used to? I did cancel my LES1 and ordered one of these from dx.com. The battery life and the easily removable SIM is what sold me.

Still don't have an opinion on the battery discharge. Doing another super conservative test. Charging time is awesome! 75-80% in just 30 minutes. I can handle that if it gives me 24 hours with just a 30 minute daily charge.

AS for Google Maps, yes you should be able to use it for driving. Going into Google Navigate may be a bit hard because the screen is so small and round, but you can try. You'll probably need to install a running app to see your running route, but it should be possible, again, on a tiny screen.

As long as you're not trying to do video (which you won't be as this watch doesn't have a camera), you should be fine. You can connect easily to WiFi anywhere, just like with your phone, and get high speed data. The most important thing to check is whether your SIM will work with the watch rather than will Hangouts work on the watch.

Thanks, it should work, the spare sim is AT&T like the sim you used, with data only, and works in a Phablet I have. I don't need a smart watch but will buy this just as a novelty, but it might end up being useful.

I'll see if I can get one, but it looks identical to the IQI I4. By the way, it DOES NOT have a TF card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB as some reviews/site report. I'm still not sure about the level of waterproof being correct either, considering how the SIM card cover isn't very well protected from the elements. Compare with the I4 and see if you notice any differences.

Let's do the easy one first, Kevin. In the Date & Time settings under your overall settings app you can turn off the automatic time zone and select the one that matches your location so your time won't be an hour off. As for battery life, I'm not sure. We are getting mixed results reported here. If you don't need the radios on and GPS, can you try turning all that stuff off? Also, if you dim your screen, even just a bit (but better if you dim it more, all the way to 1) you may get longer life as well. Try turning on Power Savings mode under settings and see if you can still do the things you want to do with your watch. Then decide if you still need longer life or if it's just using power management techniques to get the best from your investment.

Thanks Mr. Ticks . I've put it in power saving mode and am now getting about 36 hours of use without charging . The biggest thing missing still is Bluetooth as this seems to drain the power a lot when linked to the fun fit app and I wanted notifications from my phone. Do you know if the update on the no1 site is need to be downloaded? The file is NO.1_D7_20170526-1556.zip . My watch is on the 22.4.17 version, kernel 3.4.67 but wont seem to add it as an update so I wondered if I'm already on the new version? My build number is rh672_v2.1_w03_njy_a

Check the DATE on your Kernel version. Mine after flashing the new firmware (not OTA) is Fri May 26, 2017.

Answer yourself by how long you want a watch to last before needing charging. If 8 hours is OK, then LES1 is a much better watch overall. If you need more than 8 hours between charges, the D7 should be your choice. It's no good to have a fancy watch if it has no power when you need it.

LEMFO LEM4 PRO will last longest.

Correct. In USA only at&t and T-Mobile "possibly" support it. It all depends own where you are located and which GSM bands are provided, usually 1900 MHz or 850 MHz. Check with your carrier about the watch you want to buy and show them the SIM specs of the watch before buying.

@@SWT my d7 just arrive to replace my zeblaze thor 3g which having ghost touch. D7 does working with watch droid and Eric's universal launcher so i can use watchmaker faces 🥳. And to make battery last longer i uninstalled google's apps like playstore and play service (which in many android watches, this play service causing fast battery depletion)

My understanding is the barometer data is Internet derived, like the weather, I don't know about sensor access, but I doubt it. If the pulse can be transferred Bluetooth to the Funfit app -- which I haven't had success with yet -- then perhaps exporting from Funfit to strava on the phone might work somehow. I really think you need an advanced sports/fitness watch, not a generic Android watch.

Wish I had better news. No idea why this has a magnet sensor in it. Perhaps to help with turning the arm to light up the time display.

The rotating bezel might be in the future since this same company, No.1, created the G3+ with the rotating design. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't migrate that technology to this watch since all the engineering has already been done on the design.

SmartWatch Ticks if they add the rotating bezel in the future it could be used for zooming in in the browser. :)

Very good idea, David. By the way, the video you sent about the heart rate monitor I haven't posted here. I watched it and then tried it on my watch. I could not repeat his results. Mine always said invalid reading. It did not give real readings on black plastic, etc. He may need to update his firmware, but his results are misleading if I cannot reproduce them. I'm not saying the heart rate sensor is accurate or not, only that what he shows is not correct for how the watch performs. It would not be fair to the company to mislead if the problem has been fixed with a firmware patch. Hope you understand.

It doesn't have a SIM slot, but I haven't heard of any software changes, so, unfortunately, with that watch you may not be able to make any calls or do texting at all! This is what happened with the No.1 S6, a look alike No.1 D6 without the SIM (actually, the SIM connector was still there, just covered with a black piece of paper. No calls whatsoever from the S6.

Yes, if the price is good for you. You could also look at an earlier D5 or a Q3 which might be cheaper. This is a good starter watch though.

You can't upgrade to a higher level of Android on these watches. Updating is through the Settings/About/Update but that will only enhance the firmware, not change the Android level.

Just one of the shapes of things to come. First time we've seen something smaller than 1.39 inches in an Android watch for awhile. The ladies will be happy about that. Finally a watch that doesn't look huge on small wrists.

Android Wear is licensed from Google. Basic Android is license free. Simple as that. Chinese either can't or won't pay the Wear OS licensing fees. At least that's what I've been told. Anybody else have a different story?

Like most Android smartwatches, it's not all that good. You need to be in the shade and have a high contrast display in order to see it. This is not a transflective screen like the SMA-TIME.

I bought Amazfit just for having this kind of screen and the battery life is 5 days. I do not understand the grace of making a device that does a thousand things and its battery can not last for 24 hours, especially if that device proposes to be a watch that read your heartbeat uninterruptedly .... Yes, my SIM is an at&t 4G LTE card I usually have in a phone. It works fine on 3G on watches the support it. You can see the data results in the video on the LES1 and I4. This is the same SIM card.

No, it is NOT verified. Phone works but data doesn't I'm going to try and change the APN and see if that gets me data. I'm afraid the 3G frequencies for at&t are not in this watch. But that's just me and my carrier and my location. Your Country, carrier, and location may be just fine. It's a case by case thing.

SmartWatch Ticks After updating with the 13-06 firmware my call notifications are coming. Some of the watch faces are too big and getting cropped in my d7. Can I modify them, so that, they fit? how? TIA.

Good to hear about your notifications working. I would imagine it will take some work to modify watch faces to function on the smaller pixel screen of the D7. I don't know how to begin to tell you how. You can either learn the ins and outs of watch face design (in which case you'll KNOW how to modify them) or you can try and hunt down the original developer and comment on their posting page that it doesn't work and request them to modify the face for you.

Paul Sandin If I turn off the palm bright it lasts a bit longer. My lem5 lasts way longer. How do you turn off the data? I use it standalone but want to receive calls and texts. Know how to use 12 hour instead of 24 hour clock?

I also turned off wrist as it do not work. It also caused the wake up on button press to not work. In Wireless and network settings. Choose data connection off

YEs. Plug it in and leave it alone overnight. Let the battery get a real good charge on it. You should always do that if you can. If it still does't work, try downloading the firmware from No.1 and refreshing the firmware from your computer.

This is not good. We are getting several reports that the battery is not good. I got a little over three days from mine in standby. Can you guys start saying what is "not good" for you? Does it last 4 hours? 8? 12? only 24?

I hold 8/9 hours with the just bluetooth on. With the gesture app I can reach the battery usage : 82% by phone ! With no sim card ! !!!

Very interesting Pierre-Edouard. Now I really don't know what to think about D7 battery life! I guess it really depends on how the watch is used. I'd advised folks make sure location services (GPS) is off if not needed, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth, and Cellular. In other words, put the thing in Airport mode when not needing any kind of connectivity.

It has only what I show in the video at this time, but you can probably download Google Maps on your own from the Play Store.

Since this is an Android watch, yes, you should able to install a PDF reader app.

Yea, probably. Since nobody has it yet, it's too early to tell if there are hidden bugs or issues, and we're not really sure about the battery life claims, but it's a good starter watch for you.

No Brian, not yet. It will just work for smart locks at this point, so I'm told. I don't know if that's just a firmware patch to give it more capability down the road or not. Still early technology for these pure Android watches.

I'm doing live testing right now and posting the battery results in the show notes under the video. As of right now I've put 13 hours on it and it is at 79%. Eight of those hours were overnight, but I was wearing the watch.

With that said, I really like the watches that have the charging port or pins on the side, not the bottom. You can strap on a charging battery and charge while wearing it. Check out the first comment under this review on the D7. I'm doing a full battery test and results are very impressive.

Absolutely right. What I've stared doing is putting my phone in WiFi hotspot mode when out and about and connecting the watch via WiFi. Then I use it with it's own apps. Get's all the social notifications that way, everything except actual calls and replying to SMS. Of course, the WiFi switches automatically to home or work WiFi when the hotspot is turned off, so it's seamless for the watch.
