The hand guards on Enfields contribute to the stiffness of the forend. To do this best they need to fit flat along the top of the forend and be clamped tightly in place.

It would be helpful if you actually showed us how to do all of this not all of us know how to play with the floating systems of barrels and hand guards.

That most be a LITHGOW front band.An early one too. My current # 4s are Savages!

Watched to see how the first band, or last, depending on you look at it, the thinnest, is installed...does it get forced over the front sight?

My No4 has been shooting VERY low... like 10" at 60 meters, even with the sights set up between 200-400. I took a look at the guards and forend, there was zero up pressure at the nose with the top bands removed. The metal insert at the center band was also noticeably putting down pressure at that point. I've shimmed with card paper and will see... any input in the meantime?
